Wowwww Awesome sounds very nice (btw I love AE for construction/shaping the bible of the glitch movement), will sound better for my experimental music project that I will be revealing this coming december 2010. If you care to share that and other patches with me, my email is glitch@asylum.com
This is very nice! I know it was almost exactly a year ago :) but it's still awesome. Did you make any changes to the patch after this? and/or did you make more songs/vidoes with it.. Love the sound.
You could add a optional pattern that is not random.
i did actually record about 9:30 of this with a few parts to it. ill go find my old hard drive and post it.
as for the randomization. the kick and snare are pretty deterministic. and other things like effects are randomized in some sort of patterns. (for example, the eerie high pad always plays the same 4 chords, but the choppy vibrato effect is randomized in some multiple of 4. like, it will switch vibrato speeds every 4, 8, 12, or 16 beats and the vibation is in multiples of 4 too
its actually inspired by their aetm3_3 patch that was released on the internet. i find it a little frantic and less hip-hop ish to be iera inspired, although that is one of their best songs, maybe it worked itself in subliminally from a different way.
yeah, the part i hacked was actually just the bass kick. everything else i came up with on my own. its really not too complex. its just a shitload of small-medium parts acting on a whole bunch of other parts.
yeah. its kind of messy for sure. the only thing that really is completely random is the one synth line though. which i made sound more consistent by changing how often certain notes hit. and i added one of 3 fills every 4 or 8 bars. the drums and eerie synth in the background are actually very consistent.
thanks alot. and yes, it takes a long, long time to do alot of the parts in programs like this. but the good thing is once you have certain parts that do a task, you can copy and paste it elsewhere and change or add some components and eventually you work up a folder of these things. which im doing now with effects/drum machines/synths, ect.
Yeah. It seems like once you get the architecture to these sorts of patches you can use them anywhere. Personally I've always used Reaktor since I could teach myself with their preset ensembles/patches that fit what I'm trying to do (a lot like this) so that's a lot more accessible than working with Max/MSP at first. I'm definitely going to continue learning about this, though... This is the type of music I'd be making if I understood the tools for doing so, haha.
true. if you want a solid idea on one way of approaching this. look for autechres "aetm3_3" patch. i think its something close to that. i could email you it if you want also.
theres also some other patches that got leaked by accident and are hard to find. i found them last year, but transfered them to another hard drive and strangely enough the folder with those couple files and some shortcuts were the only files that got fucked up..
dude, command-y your patch is DIRTY. but it sounds excellent - great job man

do you use any external sounds or is it all synthesized by the patch?

Very much reminds me of a couple of tracks off of Confield, actually.

Hi,
nice work.
Are you using the regular metro object?
There are nicer ones though and maybe more valuable for what yr doing.
Also, are you working with a coll list?

thanks. yeah im using the regular metro object, and i dont know what you mean by a coll list, so im probably not using it. haha
Quadrange 2 years ago
Not bad, but it sounds pretty random, and I think you should control that randomness with something...
