I've heard of Edgar Bergen hosting DYTYW (before Johnny Carson took it over). I didn't know it was filmed (Johnny's version was live). EB's version seems a little like Groucho's "You Bet Your Life."
It's certainly a thrill to see Effie with Edgar. When looking up bergen before all I'd get is Mortimer and Charlie. Nothing wrong with them; it's just nice to see her on mr. Bergen's lap.
You can see Bergen's lips move while Effie's talking which is an obvious mistake for a professional ventroliquist of his stature. Watch closely at 3:46.
Good to see Edgar & charlie&Effie again. There are alot of people who have never heard of Effie Klinker. Edgar Bergan inspired me to become a ventriloquist. That was 30 some years ago. Thanks for the post.
