having heard this song from the perspective of a Brian Eno fan, it's interesting seeing the interpretation of this song through the eyes of people who first saw it in Velvet Goldmine.
perhaps. but what is real satisfaction and who decides a person is a poser? these things are left to be decided by our peers who are almost always biased for one reason or another.
I think that the original album is out of print. I can't see that "Baby" listed on the on the movie soundtrack disc but there is lots of other subversive underground music of it's time. I am disappointed that Iggy Pop is not featured on the soundtrack b/c it's his boyhood experiences that the Kurt Wild character is based on.....
deeper meanings are left for fans to interpret. really, it's about paparazzi and photojournalism. i mean -'waiting for photos, oh the plot is so bewitching' -it's pretty obvious this is a commentary on people's inability to believe without seeing. people are dying, no one's watching -they're waiting for pictures.
but to answer your question, my cousin and i made this video for fun. :)
aaargh. I cant take a vid that is literal to the song seriously. this vid is the most literal I've seen. makes the whole experience trite. no creativity.

RogerDaltrey89 - Hi Roger. Just wanted to say I've always thought you and your group (The Who) were utter and complete SHITE. Too bad it wasn't YOU who choked to death on your own puke instead of that no-talent KEITH MOON. Just wondered - do you get into Kiddy Porn too, or is that just your mate PETE TOWNSHEND? Regardless, you can't sing, NEVER COULD SING, and are one ugly-as-fuck git. When was your last hit? 1979?? Funny, but Robert Plant is still good... of course, YOU NEVER WERE.
Makes you realize just how freaking brilliant Brian Eno's work is. He didn't just produce
U2 BTW. He produced Devo's debut, Talking Heads, and many other brilliant works. Not only this he made 4 of the best vocal album's ever. Sorry, rambling. Brian Eno's work. The best legacy in modern music. This clip. Another crappy cover.
hey where did u find this version of this song i want it! i want the Velvet Goldmines soundtrack but i cant find it i dont want to pay for the download but i want it lol would b handy if u could tell me where to get it thanx klkl video btw too funny hahahah
I prefer the Brian Eno's version at "Here Comes the warm Jets'', with the most fantastic guitar solo of all times by the amazing Robert Fripp. But this one is a very, very good cover
Splendid.

made a wrong turn...thought this a compilation of JC's venus in furs and DW's cover of WCPAEB's 'a child of a few hours'.
instrumental has piqued my interest though, especially the drone

If this is seen separate from Fripp's solo, and Eno's vocals, it is quite enjoyable. Can't and shouldn't compare to Phil Manzanara either.

@WPODOD thank you for not comparing and enjoying the ridiculousness of it. :)

Isn't it about masturbation fantasies and the emptiness of superficiality and how being a poser doesn't provide any real satisfaction ?
I could run on like that for hours. ;o>

I didn't need a lecture, i'm well aware. Lol.
Well I'd hope its just for fun.. otherwise I might be asking what a five year old is doing watching Velvet Goldmine.

According to Brian Eno, the song is literally about a baby burning and people laughing at it, that's it.
