Thanks for this review. I had to wade through a lot of annoying "Top rated" videos which are nothing but pictures that we already see at the sales sites. I'm actually getting the Danby 18" built-in, but wanted to see live interaction with an 18".
Common D/W Tip: Run your hot water before connecting the lines that way the water is hot coming right out of the the tap. For built-in, just run the water until hot before starting it up.
i neva liked portables cause there always right there in the kitchen so you cant wash another load of dishes by hand so im glad we have a european dishwasher thats all integrated very very nice
Contd: Otherwise I do think the machine works extremely well and have no regrets about this purchase. Mine is about 3 years old and still running just as effectively as ever (knock wood!)
Contd: The hugest gripe I have is that over time the 6 of the 8 little rollers where the top rack slides in have crapped out. They constantly fall off and it is a real pain in the butt trying to get them back on. Sometimes I just leave them off because I can't be bothered but then I literally have to stick my head in the machine and make sure that the top rack is in the top port so the upper sprayer arm works.
Contd: As a matter of fact, I am a nanny that has worked in several homes and my little Danby works better than my clients high-end "Mieles, GE's and Electroluxs". It also works fantastic on the economy setting. I very rarely use the longest cycle, usually only if I've hosted a dinner party and there are a lot of casserole dishes or pots and pans.
I have this model but without the third sprayer arm on the roof. I must say that I am 85% satisfied with my machine. The thing that absolutely "WOWS" me the most is that the cleaning of the dishes (the most important aspect) is phenomenal. I have NEVER had an issue with dishes not coming out spotless.
that unit is small. i have an older whirlpool portable, its the size of a standard dishwasher but isnt mounted underneath the counter. its probably is 20 years old but has a newer motor. runs like a top, still a good unit. and its simple
yea me and my girl just moved into an old style house that has no dish washer installed and we're looking for something just like this however we dont know whether to get something this big or a table/counter top one that is basically the size of a huge microwave
I wouldn't recommend this machine at all. Mine broke after only two years, and prior to that it never really cleaned the dishes very well and the cycles are way too long. Also too small for more than two family household.
VERY HELPFUL!

I'd love a portable dishwasher as I HATE doing dishes with a passion, but that thing is just too big for my little kitchen. :-\

Does it come with the adorable kitty, or is that an after-purchase extra?
