Just wondering kp, have you tried the Move controls yet for the game? I've heard they feel very intuitive, as if they were made for the game from the start. Wondering if that's true or not.
I've been thinking about getting this game... i played the demo and i liked how different it feels from other kind of games like first person shoters, 3rd person adventure games and so.. it actually feels like if you were watching a movie, just you're playing roles in it, hehe. What doesn't convince me at all is that you can.. "screw" the story ending depending on how you do in the game? like one would have to play several times to get the different endings, right?.. still i think i'll get it
I had only played computer games. However based on your review and what I had read, I decided to purchase a PS 3 just to experience Heavy Rain. It was sooo worth it. I love this game! I look forward to you turning me on to other awesome games. Thanks for the review!
I surfed about 6 reviews hoping to find someone who had a similar experience to the the one I had in playing this title. While most reviewers had nothing but good things to say about HR, you are the only one who really conveys how unique & immersive an experience it is. This game marks the 1st time that i have ever actually cared about the characters and was emotionally invested in their fates. I Feel like the Heavy Rain's genius is its ability to put you into the mind of the characters and turn their reality into yours. Unlike any other game I found myself making decisions( especially Ethans) and choices as if they I myself were acting them out. so with that in mind I decided ( after much deliberation) to only play it once and treat my experience as a unique one, because if I played it again I'd feel morally obligated to make the same choices.
4 Players going through the game, each playing a different Character? That's what I did! Well, on my fifth playthrough when showing it to my friends. I, of course was Jayden. There was Abso-fuckin'-LOOTLY Nuthin' Ehneh-one could do to stop that.
its one of the rare games that connect with you emotionally, in fact, most forms of medium struggle to have genuine emotional connection. Whether its Movies, music, books.
IMO, Heavy Rain is an important step forward in interactive, personal drama stories.

seriously best game i have ever played, everyone underestimates it too, my girlfriend wont play it with me because 'it's too slow' and all my friends say it's like guitar hero because of the timing sequences. i loved your review, i have over 80 hours gameplay into this game and have to say it still has me feeling the way i did when i first played it... that nostalgic feared sadness. it is so good.

i was in a Game Design course at college...for 1 day, the teachers screwed my chance at it straight away, appeantly we had to take this math course along side it, but nope they never told me, they told everyone else. they even tried to make up stuff saying we told everyone etc. and they was really rude and really looked down on me i wanted to hit em for messing everything up and treating me like crap. rudeeee. lol

The game IS mostly quick-time events. But that does NOT mean that it's just God of War style "press buttons, miss them and you fail."
There is no failing because each button leads you to another part of the game, it's hard to have the SAME exact story as someone.
The story is better than the game itself and that's what makes it so fucking amazing. I'm not even a movie kind of person, this game made me feel so aisndfjksadnfkfkldas ye know? <.<

I love your review, you kind of look like Madison lol :P and the soundtrack in the back is awesome! Anyways, Heavy Rain is my most favourite game right now, I was hooked since the beginning. Of course you know why. The cinematics, with the plot and the characters and the music and the gameplay and all of that just fit together so nicely that you feel like your... well, 'playing a movie'. The experience is very immersive and emotional. I can't get over it! I wish there were more games like this.

I'm in a game design program and it also seems as if no one has a PS3. It's very sad because they're missing out so many great games!
You know, this review is pretty well done. Not just because you're a girl with a cool accent, but you're a gamer who can understand how another gamer would feel while playing this awesome game. I loved this game a lot that I had to replay it many times to try to get all the trophies! But you know, I may use your idea of inviting some friends over, letting them play certain characters and letting our own story play out. This video deserves more thumbs up.
I used this game as a presentation in my course as to how games can be presented in the same way as films (with good scripts, compelling stories) and create emotional attachments to characters and it created quite an intereseting response :] I think it's just one of those games that just need to be played, like you said, be part of the gaming revolution! Great review btw, I like the soundtrack playing in the background, it complements the video nicely :]

@Kawaiiprincess01 Nah it's Sociology and Cultural studies, there was an option to pick a module based on the narrative elements of games vs the gameplay part so I snapped that up straight away! Tbh, it was only a couple of people and the tutor who knew about this game so I thought it would be pretty nice to show how good narrative can be in games by using this!
Hey KP (not the nuts lol), its nice to hear someone being so positive about Heavy Rain. I waited 4 years for it since it was very first announced and it was a fantastic game to experience playing. Like you mentioned the music score was perfectly pitched and mirrored the events in the game perfectly. I got the special edition version with the superb rain effect cover, never made the origami model as I'm pretty anal with things like that (got to keep it "mint" lol).
@ianwilson1978 Never got round to playing the Taxidermist DLC yet, must do that soon! I hear Quantic Dreams arent making any further DLC as they're concentrating on the "move" version of the game and new projects (exciting!).
Have you ever played Fahrenheit on the PS2? Loved that also, slightly tarnished by the bizarre 2nd half though.

Great review, I'd love to know more about the course your doing, I applied for something simlar recently but they said due to having an ND in illustration and a HND in Coin Slot Technology I am over qualified to be doing the course as it was a one up from a GCSE, the course was based in Blackpool, where's yours based, I understand if you don't want to say, weirdo stalkers on here and all.

If i was marking this game from my movie loving stand point i wouldn't be able to fault it, as you stated about the soundtrack, it defiantly matched to grim nature of the game. However from my game loving stand point i cant overlook the one thing any game needs to be a hit, FUN, in my eyes without this it was doomed to fail. Although our overall opinion differ, a well thought out review.

The hardest ending to get is probably 'The Perfect Crime' one, you have to be spot on, on everything, 1 slight mess up you have to start all the way from 'Hassan's Shop' Again ):

This was a great review, it felt very genuine and it was nice seeing and hearing it done with the music from the game. 3 months later and I'm still touched by this game and still enjoy playing and looking for videos of it online.

CoD's great but it's replay value seems to falter and be tiresome in the latter of months...

Hrmm, I unno bout you guys, but in the game, great game and review btw, I encountered a few technical difficulties with the game as well as a few graphical hiccups like massive screen tearing and stuff, but other than that I love this game probably my second or third favourite game on the PS3, the first being Metal Gear Solid 4 and the second Uncharted 2.

I completely agree with your review! The walking was really clunky at some parts but the controls worked best during the quick time events. And of course the story can't be beat despite a couple plot holes. The different people playing different characters idea is super cool I might have to try it out!

2-fully agree with your review.I also found camera changes messing my movement and some minor glitches here and there.But the story is amazing ; the game really gets you to the point where you identify yourself with the characters.To the point I'm having trouble replaying it 'cause I don't want any of them to die,lol.

The game IS mostly quick-time events. But that does NOT mean that it's just God of War style "press buttons, miss them and you fail."
There is no failing because each button leads you to another part of the game, it's hard to have the SAME exact story as someone.
The story is better than the game itself and that's what makes it so fucking amazing. I'm not even a movie kind of person, this game made me feel so aisndfjksadnfkfkldas ye know? <.<

I love your review, you kind of look like Madison lol :P and the soundtrack in the back is awesome! Anyways, Heavy Rain is my most favourite game right now, I was hooked since the beginning. Of course you know why. The cinematics, with the plot and the characters and the music and the gameplay and all of that just fit together so nicely that you feel like your... well, 'playing a movie'. The experience is very immersive and emotional. I can't get over it! I wish there were more games like this.

It's nice to see someone who is as enthusiastic about the game as I am. This is most likely the best game/entertainment experience I've ever had as well. I'm trying to get my friends to play it, but I'm having a hard time convincing them. :P
I'm in a game design program and it also seems as if no one has a PS3. It's very sad because they're missing out so many great games!

You know, this review is pretty well done. Not just because you're a girl with a cool accent, but you're a gamer who can understand how another gamer would feel while playing this awesome game. I loved this game a lot that I had to replay it many times to try to get all the trophies! But you know, I may use your idea of inviting some friends over, letting them play certain characters and letting our own story play out. This video deserves more thumbs up.

I used this game as a presentation in my course as to how games can be presented in the same way as films (with good scripts, compelling stories) and create emotional attachments to characters and it created quite an intereseting response :] I think it's just one of those games that just need to be played, like you said, be part of the gaming revolution! Great review btw, I like the soundtrack playing in the background, it complements the video nicely :]

@Kawaiiprincess01 Nah it's Sociology and Cultural studies, there was an option to pick a module based on the narrative elements of games vs the gameplay part so I snapped that up straight away! Tbh, it was only a couple of people and the tutor who knew about this game so I thought it would be pretty nice to show how good narrative can be in games by using this!

Hey KP (not the nuts lol), its nice to hear someone being so positive about Heavy Rain. I waited 4 years for it since it was very first announced and it was a fantastic game to experience playing. Like you mentioned the music score was perfectly pitched and mirrored the events in the game perfectly. I got the special edition version with the superb rain effect cover, never made the origami model as I'm pretty anal with things like that (got to keep it "mint" lol).

Have you ever played Fahrenheit on the PS2? Loved that also, slightly tarnished by the bizarre 2nd half though.

Yup the Move version should be interesting, if you think about the range of movements you have with the standard controller then done right it should be great.

Great review, I'd love to know more about the course your doing, I applied for something simlar recently but they said due to having an ND in illustration and a HND in Coin Slot Technology I am over qualified to be doing the course as it was a one up from a GCSE, the course was based in Blackpool, where's yours based, I understand if you don't want to say, weirdo stalkers on here and all.

If i was marking this game from my movie loving stand point i wouldn't be able to fault it, as you stated about the soundtrack, it defiantly matched to grim nature of the game. However from my game loving stand point i cant overlook the one thing any game needs to be a hit, FUN, in my eyes without this it was doomed to fail. Although our overall opinion differ, a well thought out review.

This was a great review, it felt very genuine and it was nice seeing and hearing it done with the music from the game. 3 months later and I'm still touched by this game and still enjoy playing and looking for videos of it online.

great review i loved heavy rain it was a great game and a great experience you should definately do more reviews you are very well spoken and intellegent in your review which most people don't seem to do when they review games plus it's very cool to see a girl gamer (especially one that is as cute as you are) play something other than sonic or mario. so keep up the good work. p.s. i plan on doing game reviews of old school games when i get a cam you should check it out if interested

See I agree with your review.I believed the story was remarkable.It was simply amazing.A huge plus was getting so emotionally attached to the characters.It was almost like you were in a huge movie.Very interesting.Also i think the idea of each person playing a different character is an excellent idea!So kudos to whoever had that idea.Anyway great review.I pretty much agree with everything you said!

Ehehe, unfortunately I'm still in school (just turned 16 a few months ago...still ripe and fresh :( but at the same time I feel old, haha!) and let me tell ya, I'm still the only girl in my school that enjoys gaming to such an extent. xP I mean, I do have a bunch of friends who play, but they're mostly guys and tend to opt for the generic FPS *cough* that is CoD. CoD's great but it's replay value seems to falter and be tiresome in the latter of months...

My cousin works for Sony so he got it before me so when I went round his place I found it next to the tv
I literally went mad, I mean I had waited for this game for like 5 months. The problem is that I'm 14
So my dad came in behind me and saw me jumpin round with it, took one look at the 15 certificate an said "you can't play that son ur too young"

Hrmm, I unno bout you guys, but in the game, great game and review btw, I encountered a few technical difficulties with the game as well as a few graphical hiccups like massive screen tearing and stuff, but other than that I love this game probably my second or third favourite game on the PS3, the first being Metal Gear Solid 4 and the second Uncharted 2.

The walking was weird

In places the voice work was a little dodgy like the voice of a bloke who's about to cut his finger off being unusually calm
Part from that the game is excellent
Good plot good graphics good gameplay and it's true about the qtes
They aren't actually that common

I completely agree with your review! The walking was really clunky at some parts but the controls worked best during the quick time events. And of course the story can't be beat despite a couple plot holes. The different people playing different characters idea is super cool I might have to try it out!
