Thanks! And it is a bit frustrating that it sounds a bit distorted. When I made this vid, I used Euphoric (as emulator) running over DosBox under XP...
BTW, music was made by Twilighte (the author of other impressive oric titles, such as impossible mission or Stormlord...)
Are you using an emulator for this? Like MESS? I just downloaded this, but have never had any luck trying to use .dsk. .tap only. Could you offer a little help please?
@gjc82071 Indeed MESS does not support disks. The good news is that there is a new cross-platform emulator that perfectly runs all games. You can download it at:
code(dot)google(dot)com/p/oriculator/
(download tab, windows and other version's binaries plus source code) For any doubt don't hesitate to ask at Defence Force's forums:
forum(dot)defence-force(dot)org
More information and games at space1999(dot)defence-force(dot)org
@fusionvillage unfortunately it is for Oric Atmos+Microdisc (not sure why it wouldn't work on an Oric 1, but needs a Microdisc unit).
But you can use any of the fabulous emulators out there... Search the web for Oricutron or Euphoric, or ask at the forums in forum (dot) defence-force (dot) org, or oricgames (dot) com. Download the game from space1999 (dot) defence-force (dot) org
And there is an elite like game on the go! check 1337 (dot) defence-force (dot) org
а где смысл игры?

And what would be the fun of that? old-school game programming is just a hobby, it is challenging and it has an important nostalgic component.

Why don't make a game with the current technology now.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
This reminds me of knightlore on the spectrum, that game was boring as hell too. why waste time developing this pile of rubish?.
now a decent PC version in direct X or openGL.. hhmm off to start coding.
LOL at the programmers and Oric freaks, oh see how they scathe.

It's an Oric game. A far better machine than the Spectrum (and BBC at half the price). They got a brief mention on the recent 'Micro Men' BBC4 drama.

Damnit if programmers would have done such a great work like this back in the 80's... Probably Oric would had last for much longer... What a pity.
However... "Never late when it comes"
