  • What @CHUCOFilms warned to us about. And yet, no one realized that Chuco was talking about Philip, "Pac-Man," Chbeeb, Hok [of Quest Crew] and the other dancers. And sadly, @bboyphantom, @bboyrocco and @Mooncricket warned us, yet we didn't care to listen.

  • what he saying in this video ive been feeling that way for years. hes the truth chucho keeps it real and speaks for the streets across the board

  • Keep doing your think Mooncricket... I remember meeting at you Union Sq, NYC

    3-4 years back... Props!!

  • im sorry but i am not feeling this at all. There is no "Watering down" as such. I get where he is coming from, period. i know i know, it isnt original poppin, blah blah. This has been reiterated more than a millions times across the hip hop culture, whether it being Breaking, rapping or popping. Television is there to entertain people and primarily MAKE MONEY. they put up what sells.it wont change i can assure anyone that. I say stop all the hating on commercialization and take advantage of it

  • @Mooncricket And I'm fighting my hardest to prove that even the Gospel Music Industry in Hollywood and all over are making fun of the Total B-boy and/or the Total B-girl!

  • demmm this shit is hard men!! Chek Hawta - dreams

  • so true i agree with this guy

  • it aint the " white man " , it be the " rich man " who controls $hit. this aint a race issue imo. you have plenty of ethnicities who have money pull , plenty of weight.

  • thats some true shit

    amen

  • This filmmaker is one of the best there is! Let's get the word out about him folks! It's about time some REAL talent was recognized. Seems the trash that is in films/TV etc. get's more attention than the kind of quality work you see here. Mooncricket is not only talented, he is one of the most genuine hard working human beings there ever was. (OH & Chuco! The Best!) Tell everyone you know about Beto "Mooncricket" Lopez!!

  • DA BEST VIDEO I'VE SEEN ON YOUTUBE TILL DATE.................MADE MA EYEZ WATERY

  • Real talk : D

  • Can't wait for these video series to come out, do your thing Mooncricket

  • we need to air this on every network on TV!!! TRUE TRUE TRUE!!!!!

  • This is the real deal!! Chuco...mad inspiration!

    Rudy Rexx!

  • "destroying the real hip hop again" The word "again" is sad in it. History already showed it once, when some people start to see some money in street culture, they will take em and destroy it. Yeah, we will rise again but still... And on the other side TV is fake, it has to be fake to make real bussiness, street should know it and be ready for it, we should wisely use tv, comercial side of it all and all that stuff and not be easily used by it.

    Great vid.

  • WOOOOOORD!!!!!true shit right there!!!

We got the same shit in Poland!! !fuck tv programs with gay choreographers judging streetdancin!!!

the truth is on the street:) and it will be always there...

  • chill Temps.

  • jestem wychillowany jak najbardziej Fabianku;)

    just sharing my opinion:D

  • they water it down.... but na he has a point. cool video... nice style

  • i can understand whathe's talking about in regards to so you think you can dance..but that show is to not water people down..because..tey also make jazz dancers do hip hop...see....the show was made to expand your dance ability in different genres....not popping..I'm a popper myself....so I totally understand where he's comming from.

  • This is beautiful, inspirational and above all else, TRUE... Respect, keep filming, posting and promoting. This is theatre material.

  • madd respect.keep doing what you're doing, you're inspiring, teaching and most importantly spreading the word of what is truth.keep true hip hop livin'

  • words cant express how dope this video is. Its so inspiring, on a spiritual level.

    KEEP DOING IT!

  • wow. amazing!

  • Yo bro you should throw these kind of clips in the documentary too. I know it's the "bboy" connection, but a lot of people respect what the poppers have to say to or other styles within hip hop for that matter.

  • i don't think there's any danger of the 80s repeating themselves

  • There will always be the danger of exploitation as in the 80s, but i think the bboys of today can learn from the past and use the exposure to the media for a positive image of bboying and hip hop. Ken Swift once said that bboying was never meant for a stage, which i completely agree with, but how else are we too reach out to the public and show them the potential that we have as dancers and artists? To expand the community, we need the exposure, and as long as we keep the essence where it counts

  • It's not meant for stage if it's controlled by the wrong people....white people to be more exact. We can keep it real. We should have some kind of NAACP where only certain individuals of stature can only judge and control what happens. Look whats going on with "American Best Dance Crew". You got a goofy white dood from Back Street Boys and some cheorographer who can't pop or break. Ridiculous.

  • You are on point. Wuts gota happen is these yung cats who know the history and respect cats like you GOTS to reach back and build a bridge for the legends who are the essence of what's real and the young generation who is pushing hard to make it "mainstream." I dont know if it's possible to do it right, but I know the young cats are determined to cross over so the only hope is if they reach back.

  • the culture is needed, but if this hybridization if all for the better and towards the same beautiful dance and culture that we love, why stop the change? And hollywood always bastardizes the topics that they use, the same is true for the military, police, street racing, whatever. But as long as we have people who know what's up, why can't we let it be a gateway into the true world of hip hop? Yes the masses will reject it, but those who are truly attracted to the culture will find their place

  • How else is this dance expected to evolve to the next level? No disrespect to the OGs but those who expect this dance to stay the same as it was during its conception in the 70s i think are doing bboying a disservice. As i believe moshen was saying, bboying is organic, constantly changing and evolving, without influences from other sources how are we to expect it to progress into something more beautiful than it had been before? I'd agree that foundation is needed, and a true understanding of

  • On the real, much respect for all that was said in this video, this is the pent up frustration that the public needs to hear with respect to this dance and this culture. However, i do disagree with some things that were said. the mixing of dance styles to me is not something that should be despised, but rather embraced. The history of this dance takes elements from so many different roots, capueira, charleston, martial art films, this dance has always been an amalgamation and is unique for this

  • Props to Chuco. Respect the real. Enough with people who will end up using my culture just to make some bread.. To most of them being a b-boy is only a fad. I'm going to be rocking my pumas with fat laces when I'm 80. Cause Hip Hop is part of my soul. That's what people aren't getting. Hip Hop isn't for every1. That's why we got so much garbage music/dancing/fashion.

  • I had to edit a lot more that was said in the video but also what were saying is that real poppers enter battles and we never see the background dancers and hollywood dancers at a real popping battle against real poppers and real popping judges. The script would be flipped because when a real popper auditions there are judges that have no clue about the real bboy and popping culture and tell us that if we didn't take classes then were not dancers or will not make the auditions.

  • i totally feel you homie. Hollywood and TV always want to take something so pure and original and flip it and flip it until it becomes stale bland and tasteless. street dance is an art form and i can see when you dance that you have a lot of passion and pride n what you do and i respect that. so is art thats done for profit any different than art done for love? i think so. and i think thats bullshyt how they take what you love to do and make it a gimmik. love overpowers greed. much respect...

  • someone give chuco that million dollar!

  • What Chuco is trying to say based on my questions I asked him to discuss is that when there are auditions they try and tell real street dancers they need to take ballet and jazz classes and choose a jazz and ballet background dancer who just learned how to pop over one who lives real street dance. What he is also saying is that they have jazz dance background dancers act in movies as a hard core street dancer. The real street dancers can see in a movie who takes classes over a street dancer.

  • What's dancing without originality though? How can new moves be discovered without change? Combining Jazz and Popping is not necessarily "TAKING AWAY FROM STREET DANCING". The popping pioneers are well respected! They made way for the new generations to come and as a pioneer you need to learn to let it go, and respect yourself and take pride that you helped the newbies get into the future. This way, Hip Hop Never Dies!!!

  • respect for the true pioneers

  • allot of anger and hate ,we should all forget our so called differences for me all dance are the same i combine any style i want ,no rules and regulations for me dancing for me is about expression ,the combining of dances is what makes new form of dance emerge, and the movie breaking is the first to start combining jazz and pop so its not even the new schools fault ,anyways people have the right to combine what they want ,lets not star to be the Hitler s of dance and let people be

  • Listen to Chuco, he is correct spynation. we are all different, and you need to realize it. you are misguided man. its not the true shit when you mingle different dancing. this new shit is fake man. and they call it poppng? lol whatever , just be real. like chuco said.

  • in all respect you said (just be real )in your words,

real is what feel real to you and not someone else vision of real ,example im not born in the Bronx in the 70s when bboying started ,there for how can i express my self like an original Bronx rocker ??it is not going to look be the same ,because i haven't live the same thing . Look at Remind for example allot of o.g s use to dis him because you can tel he was a house dancer ,that is just is expression real is what feel real to you

  • The stuff that happened in Breaking the movie, was not even the old school's control of what they wanted portrayed, it was Hollywood making them do those things. Now of course it is on them because they agreed to do it, but they were from poor neighborhoods a lot of them, so a movie deal and money in that

  • situation is understandable for that kind of compromise at the time. But after seeing the animal that came out of that, the old school realized that shouldn't happen and some even know admit it was their fault. Thus why because they went through that era, they're more passionate about stopping it from happening again.

    What happened? Breaking, popping, locking,

  • became looked at as some pop culture circus fad, and not a real and raw dance that requires creativity and not trend following, thus why it died out in the media fast.

These guys don't want breaking and popping, which is now getting worldwide respect again, to go down that same route it did back in the 80's. As the saying goes, if you don't know your history, it's bound to repeat itself.

  • CHUCO

YOU COULD BE A GREAT KRUMP DANCER. YOU DAMN NEAR LOOK LIKE ONE!!!!!!!!!!!1

    Late,

    Skyler Quarles-Ausir

  • Great video man really inspried me to keep dancing forget the jazz and crump or whatever.... its all about the old school wave and breaking hip hop is not what it used 2 be it needs to be lik old school no crump just old school if u dont have skills work on it and you will u just gotta keep moving on if u have skills work to be a legend thats all i gotta say i want it to be like bac in the day and im only 15

  • I love this. As for the audio and video...all the shots are dope. I think the background music could've been done without, it made it almost overly dramatic, Chuco's voice is so intense I feel like there isn't any need for symphonic sounds. Maybe more ambient noise instead? As for the message...it was completely conveyed. Regardless, I'd still watch it again.

    Love, respect.

  • Im feeling this cat, im the same as you brother, keep doing watcha doing, hiphop cant die, it needs to diversify, peace kamikaze

  • dude, you have too much film, and too many stories to make one film. this shit is considered a miniseries. shit, you could probably just make a tv series that'll last 4 or 5 or even 6 seasons.

pitch something to a & e, they'll love it man.

  • this is legite!

  • Great clip. I gotta say the music threw me off at first, because its not the usual hiphop you would hear, but I actually liked it. I think it might've been a bit intense on some occasions, like its a horror movie or something (which might be what you intended?).

Mad props for what you're doing mooncricket. If you haven't already, make a site with these on it and spots to send donations (like paypal or something). Stay strong man! The end protect will be priceless.

  • Thanks bboysleep. Well the music was suppose to have you focus on what he is saying so your not distracted by the beat. Also so you can feel what he is saying with the visuals. I do have my sight up but my web designer never has time to work on it for the adding the videos as I asked him. Having a budget would help my website. As for donations I do have paypal set up for that and trying to save up for the software to start selling other DVDs using shopping cart on my site.

  • Sorry for my delay on webisode 6. I'm having video capturing issues. All my videos have no budget just art but to refill your canvas it can add to your budget. So not sure when I'll get this fixed to continue. I have 6 more webisodes lined up and 2 more ready to be edited. Subscribe to my videos and you will be updated when I get the next webisode up. Thanks

  • WORD!!!

  • Real Talk from one of my all time Favorites!

  • If your unprepared to represent mentally and phisicly. Than guess what? You need to come back when your ready! The media does what it does on purpose. They love it when they turn a true b.boy into a fairy flyer. For the same reason they love drama. We cant be mad at that. We need to step up everywere! We need more education! Hey Chuco you should be a b.boy manager for these guys. Some of these kids are going to these washed up firms who represent them follishly wrong. Hit me up some time? Respect

  • yes!YES!YES! People have been saying this for years! These b.boys go into these shows very dance prepared but unaware of the danger of money and media? These b.boys need to attack back and use the cameras to speak the truth to the world! They need to consult with higher up sources like, Chucco, Rocksteady Crew and so on. Example, Dont you think the president has to speak to an advisor or sit down with the counsil b.4 going to war? Yes! OPEN UR EYES! THE DANCE WILL SPEAK 4 ITSELF !

  • Respect

  • I think this is definetely something to think about. I don't necessarily think it's "wrong" to combine different styles of dance, jazz, ballet, breakin, etc...but each form needs to maintain it's true roots and style individually also so the true form and essence is not lost in translation. If there are going to be movies with watered down b-boys and dance moves, there also needs to be movies about real b-boying, real hip-hop and the truth of it...feel me?

  • Hmmm , I don't know man,,, It's like , we live in a very mixed and diverse environment ... and I agree that the Big Cheese peeps exploit the street art and keep the dough for themselves , but affirm that hiphop and street dance should not be mixed with Jazz , Ballet and other dance styles is a little to closeminded for me ... Let's just Dance , How about that ?

  • Yeah, Paulo, you are almost sure. But they are in original context, do you know? It makes all difference. They have a pure passion and they are the guardians of this truth. So, we have to respect and support them. They have done exactly the same all of us should be done about roots of our culture.

  • Thanks for your response. Many of us are trying to say is that many films, TV shows that have one kind of dance, Ballet, jazz, salsa, tango and etc. there are never 100% bboyin, locking or popping TV or films. He is saying they always mix it never 100% for us. Breakn' electric Boogaloo focused on Kelly with modern dance background that wants to know the street dance. One part of why it died in the 80's. New movies are doing that again not showing the true essence of what our dance really is.

  • Tight Chuco, I been saying this same shit for a minute too. I love the way you put this whole thing together, it gets the message across perfectly.

  • Chuco, respect & big up yourself you got mad skillz bro.

    Peace

  • wow, nice one...good words and dope video, cant wait that movie come out. Finaly somebody care about the culture!

  • Props on the webisode. So true, as a b-girl and an Actress I could really relate to this. It is sad when these dance movies go out and use doubles and quick edits to make someone look like what they think a street dancer should look like. The industry is backwards. Hopefully this will open some minds of some talented directors out there.

  • Thanks for your support folks. I asked Chuco specific questions on these topics because this is what one of my chapters is about in my film and there are many legend and new bboys in my film who talk about this as well including Du-knock before he blew up. Sorry about the audio, as I usually put the mic close because some people talk low, but Chuco has a powerful voice and it was to late to fix once I started editing. When I get a budget for NY again I will have some NY webisodes.

  • Evolutions is the development of a style or kind, not a bread of multiple add ons, I totally agree Bro! Bladestyle

  • WOOOORRDDD!!!

  • this is the best webepisode! i like it. chuco is the man!

  • i been sayin that for the longest, Who is this guy, i wish i could talk with him!!!

is there anyone who can make this happen

  • beautiful story..thanks for this
