@ARMONI555 "Vanity" turned it down due to Prince not wanting to pay her the amount she wanted, so she did Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon movie, which came out about a year after Purple Rain. "Vanity" did help with the movie Purple Rain in a indirect way though. Apples wanted to meet "Vanity" to get a feel of the style and character she was to portray. "Vanity" and Apples became friends (Till this day) and hung out with each other afterward.

If anyone gets a chance, check out the Vanity's original version of Sex Shooter. I haven't found a studio quality version of it yet, but it's impressive nonetheless.

Vanity is truely an icon, a legend in her own time. True beauty & a classic essence about her that none can compete with.

She was one of the most beautiful women ever. So sad that she was empty inside though. Her abusive childhood is what almost killed her. I have loved her since The Last Dragon. She has shown us now that she is equally beautiful on the inside and even though Vanity is dead and gone-I love the person in her place-Denise. let me reframe that she was the first beautiful Black woman that I had a crush on growing up. As far as Purple rain there was an intense chemistry with Prince and Vanity and the director wanted that chemistry on film unfortunately Prince got a look alike to replace her. I read somewhere that the director felt that she would have been a bigger star (you know sell more records) if she was allowed to be the Love interest in Pr. But I guess we will truly never know.

The versions that I have are the original one that was without the corner photos of Vanity 6, and the edited one, where that too didn't have the Vanity 6 photos on the side, but her legs was covered up with more of the sheet. I also have the doubled sided Skin on Skin promo poster too. That one is my favorite. "Vanity" was so photogenic.
