I've been to Croatia, and honestly didn't experience any real culture shock. They got the same crappy reality tv as we do, the same guys who never pay attention to politics. I was probably more intrigued about the country's history and culture more then 80% of the people I meant. You talk to some of these guys, they don't give a fuck if you tear down an 800-year-old building to make a parking lot. "Who cares, it's old" I heard one guy tell me as he was watching soccer and drinking booze.

No one in Europe is gonna like him anyway. Doug Stanhope on the other hand is brilliant and well liked there. It is easy to get disillusioned with Europe if you look at how biased the media is over there. They shit on America for ratings all the time and it works. Nevertheless, jimmy would enjoy it if he went. Average people are the same everywhere you go and I think Jimmy knows that. I think what he wanted to say was that he wouldn't do well enough in Europe to warrant the effort of traveling there. But I guess he was mad at Europe for some reason, so he was overly aggressive about it.

Jimmy is good on that show, but truth is in reality he's a shitty second rate comedian because most of his material is based around his fixation on sexual perversions. No one in Europe is gonna like him anyway. Doug Stanhope on the other hand is brilliant and well liked there. Although he shits on Europeans all the time, they still love him for the intelligent content of his routine. Louis CK would do great in Europe too.

If he could somehow change his act to be like he is on the show, he'd be one of the greatest comedians ever. Also, I think it's ludicrous the way he gets defensive over criticisms of American foreign policy. If , say, Noam Chomsky makes some criticism of the UK's foreign policy (which he has many times) I don't take it personally - I just listen and try to understand.

I think Patrice's experience over in the UK might have turned Jimmy off the whole European touring thing, as well as any feelings he might have had before that. I say that cause Patrice talked about how stuck up the British comedians can be, especially when they talk about irony. They do seem to be hung up on irony though.. any time there's a vid of an american comedian performing in the uk you see a bunch of comments from uk guys saying we just don't get irony maaaaan. Bill Burr is funny imho, but comedy is like that. Jim Norton would do MUCH better in the UK than he does in the US as Bill Hicks, Doug Stanhope, Rich Hall, Brendon Burns and Jim Jefferies amongst many others have.I think he's burning his bridges tbh... I love his stand up, it's a shame he seems dead set on judging an entire nation without any basis.
