I agree with everyone, this is a fantastic score, but the movie was pretty bad and didn`t deserve it. The only good things about it was Jerry Goldsmiths score and Sam Neills performance as Damian.
@TrustYourSkepticism It is a bad film: almost poor TV film of the week quality, despite Sam Neill's best efforts. Maybe that cost Goldsmith an Oscar nomination for the score, because it's inexplicable that he wasn't nominated.
This is nothing short of SPELLBINDING. It's (arguably) the most gorgeous and profound crescendo composer Jerry Goldsmith had ever put together (5:32-6:15). For a mediocre film, Jerry, you could always manage to remain unscathed. Listen to this loud, please. You will not regret it. Sometimes I can't believe that shit like this can come from somebody's fucking MIND.
Yeah, Damien defeated at the feet of what looked like paper, gauze and a string of bright lightbulbs! This series is so confused & narrow, it defies any logic. Even this theme, whilke good in and of itself, is about as scary as music for a car ad. "The Final Disappointment", I say.
I am gonna listen to this on my ipod at the valley of meggiddo when the forces of darkness face off against the armies of the light - ringside seat " C,mon Jesus - kick that horned fuckers head in "
@siltor67, Goldsmith often produced his best scores for really bad movies, which shows just how professional and hard-working he was. He did say in an interview: "I was often horrified when I saw the final cut of a movie."
@ReviewCam Ad Jesum Dominum, Ad Jesum Christum,Ad Jesum Deum, Ad Jesum Nazarenum, Ave Satani. To jesus the lord, to jesus christ, to jesus our god, to jesus of Nazareth, Hail satan
It's true that "I Am The Angel Of Music" from Phantom of the Opera totally ripped off the main melody from "The Final Conflict." But the main melody from "The Final Conflict" is a total rip-off from "Battle On The Ice (Peregrinus Expectavi)" from Sergei Prokofiev's Alexander Nevsky.
Goldsmith had this imbecable memory for his scores-he analyzed Ave Satani then 'grew it up' so to speak for The Final Conflict-too bad the movie sucked ass but goldsmith was in top shape as always
@efan64 The movie *is* bad, sadly. Don't mislead people. :) The music is astounding, though. Easily one of Goldsmith's masterpieces, up there with Star Trek and Alien.
no matter how bad a film is [such as this] Jerry never failed to give as best a score that could go to the movie. Any bad movie with him as composer, is given a little redemption simply for the score.
There are know more conductors like this any more Jerry Goldsmith he was truly one of a kind the master of MUSIC. When the second coming happens I truly hope we hear this music amazing.
La segunda llegada?? jejeje bueno yo recuerdo haber visto la Profecia cuando era pequeño y la cancion Ave Satani me asusta aun hoy me hace creer las mentiras de la religion jojojo...
Jerry Goldsmith was definitely in the school and class of Milkos Rosza, another magnificent epic movie composer. Mr.Goldsmith will be sorely missed by many.
Jerry Goldsmith was one of the best in the movie soundtrack business and the omen trilogy soundtracks are there to prove it. His passing away is a great loss for the movie industry.

I was a pity that The Final Conflict was so crap. If it had been any good this would be one of the most famous movie scores of all time.

@densaner77 Agreed. What a fantastic score. The Main Titles and also the music during the "Fox Hunt" scene are awesome.

What on earth are you on about? I've never once heard 'car ad music' as sublime or compelling as this.
These Omen scores were always far superior to the their films.

I love what the great Henry Mancini had to say about Goldsmith's brilliance and experimentation with musical instruments: "He scares the rest of us."

@nemvak Only the opening of three notes of the theme are (C-C-C-D-C-G). Harmonically, it's rather different.

He studied with Rozsa at U.S.C. for six months in his film composition course, though he didn't think highly of him as a teacher.
