Those guys sure as hell took their time with their gear...specially that guy taking his jacket off, he HAD to wait till he got OVER there and had his bunker pants on, when he COULDA been taking it off en-route to the gear.
I have no clue. I rarely rode on the ambulance rigs and back then they used to get new rigs on a fairly regular basis. So it would definitely had been from that era. (late 80's)
Look up Athearn and Walthers. Athearn makes a Ford C-Series tilt-cab truck that comes in many different styles all in H.O. scale. Check it out. I have a 2-axle tractor, a red/white pump, and a Boston-style Heavy Rescue.
Just a thought, maybe you might want to save the rear half of the ALF's cab to make a canopy extension for the Ford cab? Do you think it will fit? Maybe body putty could fill in whatever's different? Again just a thought.
According to the latest Fire Apparatus Journal, "Models By Dave" makes conversion kits for AMT models, including an ALF Century cab and a Ford C-Series cab with canopy extension. Interested??
It was still on tv back in the late 80's so I think I had it on a video tape at the time. Have you tried one of those file share sites? Someone might have it. Thanks for the compliment on the video. I ended up submitting it for a class and received and A on it.
I would cherish this video if at least for the fact that Ford C-series tilt-cab apparatus are getting more and more rare. Next to Seagrave, I would say Ford C-Series are my favorite rigs. I remember as a kid we had a Ford C-750/Bruco Heavy Rescue with a 360 V-8 gas. A bit underpowered, but it was the first truck in the area to carry a Hurst Tool. Berwyn at one time was the Ford C-series capital of the Main Line!!!
thats some good classic video. i haven't seen IIA paks on a rack in a very, very long time. nice job.

Hey Traffic, are there any Ford tilt-cabs left at Berwyn Fire Co. today?
RDG484 3 years ago
I am not really sure. I haven't been there in a while. I think the rescue and maybe one engine still are.
trafficdan 3 years ago
Thanks. I'll have to stop in one day.

Do you have an idea of what the siren is on the ambulance?? Sounds to me like a PA-20A or FS Interceptor.

To answer your question there is a 1983 Ford C/E-ONE engine and a 1990 Ford C/EONE custom rescue still in service.

Ford tilt cabs? You talking about the trucks with a C-900 cab?
You what pisses me off? those trucks were used in alot of dept's, but no model co. bothers to make a kit of the type!

I'm not looking for a model RR model, I'm looking for a model kit. 2 different things.
ColonelSamatoshi 3 years ago
Ahh, I see. You're right as far as that goes. About the closest thing I've seen in plastic models is the 1960's Ford Econoline van.
RDG484 3 years ago
I'm using a american lafrance pumper model with a ford c-600 model to make one myself.
Just wish the morons at the model co.'s would put out a kit.

I'm planning to use the ALF cab to add length, & leave the ford cab as is to look like 1 of the trucks up here in the 70's.
ColonelSamatoshi 3 years ago
That's exactly what I meant. Let me know when you're done with it, then post some photos. I'd love to see it.
RDG484 3 years ago
Ok, now THIS' weird. The ford cab model has a pair of red domes......
& no, I didn't screw up & put ALF parts in the ford cab box(That's the 1st thing I checked).
So Ertl/amt made a ford firetruck model???

What year was this made? Was it a TV series or something?
fire904 4 years ago
It was made in 1988. It was part of a high school project I did. I recently found the VHS copy and converted it to digital
