Well, it's all a matter of opinion.

The back of the pit is closer to the stage than the first row of seats, but unless you're tall, you won't be able to see much and you'll be standing the whole time.

Seats are good because they're safe and you don't have to worry about losing your spot or your stuff. They're perfect good for your fist concert. Watch the pit and get a feel for the whole event.

The front of the pit is fun, because you're in the center of the action, where the energy of the show is at it's highest -- but also really crazy, and it can be dangerous if you're short, claustrophobic, prone to fainting, or don't know what you're doing.

To be in the front of the pit you have to get there early--no later than noon. People cut in line and force their way to the front, but that's deeply looked down upon by those who earned their spot by camping out.(...)
