@vardalos1980 I think you're referring to his fight with Duane Ludwig where Ramon had a messed up right shoulder. As far as I know he was in par condition for this fight, but unfortunately past his prime. He is my second favorite fighter of all time, second only to Mike Tyson.

Of course he is past his prime, but Dekkers was the most fewarless fighter i ever know. He never rejected any challenge even with weight dissavantage.

I think thats what made him one of the greatest champions, of course the fighting in Thailand which made him a big name in the sport, but also the willingness to fight anybody, anywhere, under any condition. His overall record however is most impressive. More than 200 matches, of which he won over 175. Besides of that, Dekkers has the reputation of never refusing a fight challenge, even if he's out of shape, or not accustomed to the rules (his K1 Hero's MMA). That makes his record even more impressive.

Dekkers is definately among the best of the past decade.

Well, not exactly. Under K1 rules you can hold someone by the neck or a kicking leg. Of course one has to let go after using one attack technique in that clinch.

Remy Bonjasky is a good example of how you can use knees effectively despite of that rule.

I think it's a good ruleset. K1 matches tend to be more dynamic than muai thai matches because fighters can't hold eachother down to hold up the fight.

Dekkers is more muscular than he was back in his prime, but because of his age, his body fat is up to. He isn't as fast as his was, or as aggresive. Joeri looks like a good fighter, but in his prime, Dekkers was a legendary fighter, Joeri wouldn't have lasted a round with Dekkers in his prime.
