i get so tired of people saying there is nothing to do in Midland. If you will get off your ass and actually look for something to do, you will find it. Sorry we dont have Disney Land or something but go to the duck pond, visit the museum, take your dog to the dog park, volunteer at the soup kitchen, or look in the midland reporter telegram, they list things to do on the weekends. It's not exactly the most exciting nightlife in the world, but how can you complain about the driving? Please drive in Dallas, Austin, or San Antonio during rush hour and you'll be wishing you were back in Midland.

This film is primarily propaganda. While a somewhat religious town, Midland has a hip side, and wild side, and even a subculture that is libertarian. There are plenty of Christians in West Texas whose views are much more universal and much less fundamentalist than the ones featured here. As you watch, just keep in mind that you're seeing only one facet on the gem. For example, several of the churches featured in the piece have less than 100 active members. You are seeing lots of the fringe.

I live less than two hours from Midland, and I can tell you that there is not a more rightwing conservative area in the country. However, Texas is vast and opinions greatly vary accordingly!
