AND SINCE WHEN DO BRAINS HAVE FORESKINS??? This is so spiritworld/nature/fertility... Even the design on the dude's crotch looks like an erect cock and the woman's crotch design is a triangular bush shape. Druids made this film I think...
I think Gandahar IS nature, and this is all set in the spirit world where systems are softer and establish themselves a little differently. Soulless and pragmatic machinism is the enemy of purpose and meaning, but machinism is part of purpose and therefore inevitable, and purpose is just abstract opinion subject to environmental necessity, and I think that's the conflict illustrated in this grotesque work of genius..
Do you think that the final thoughts of one of the M.o.M. @ :23 was
"Gee, you know what. Life is good.
The world economy may be collapsing. My job requires me to be a lemming for a giant pink brain. But at least I am not getting devoured by a giant penis with teeth."
Ugh, quit saying Avatar. The only parallel to Avatar is two forces are clashing, one is using technology, the other nature. However, has anyone noticed the mechanical side is powered by a natural force, and the so-called "natural" side is using genetic manipulation, brought about by centuries of experimentation?
This is one of the inspirations to that movie since Cameron is a fan of Laloux and animation especially European animation, adult animation and Japanimation. You can tell Cameron took elements from this movie, Fantastic Planet, Ferngully, Nausicaa, Last of the Mohicans, Man Called Horse, Mononoke Princess, Pom Poko, Total Recall, Starchaser, Dune, Star Wars and Heavy Metal, do you agree?
@Johnlindsey289 Oh, certainly. There's no denying that. You can see a lot of themes and imagery from other movies that started here. Maybe my past comment didn't make my view clear: I really didn't like "Avatar", and I wish people would quit talking about it, especially when there's a much better movie like this on.
I would say that the english dubbing is excellent. Its good they got some actual hollywood actors like Glen Close and Christopher Plummer to do the voices. But I think mostly people complain about the american distributors changing the original French music and giving it generic 80's synth lol.
@Sandcross People see a few bad English dubs (not difficult) and develop a habit of hating English dubs without much subjectivity. I like the dubbing in this. The voice artists might not convey the exact subtleties of the original voice work, but so what? Who's to say the original voice work perfectly conveyed the nuances that the writer intended them to? It's pretty unlikely that they did. It's all a team effort, not one single vision. There are plenty bad dubs out there but this isn't one
@Sandcross Me either, I don't mind the english dubbing. The only thing I don't like is that they cut some scenes and slightly altered what they said in the movie.

the music sucks in the english version. Takes away the otherworldly feel of the movie.

yeah the english version is epic, the voice acting was better than virtually any other animated movie out there

I too appreciate the dubbing. Gentle, soothing voices.....I noticed it immediately and it gives a perfect mood to this dreamy masterpiece.

@Sandcross I don't like the dub, it sounds like they're mumblin despite of their terrified moment
rochelimit55555 1 year ago 2
@Sandcross
The main reason why people do not like the english dub is because the
origional music soundtrack is not featured and was redone
