don't see why anyone would think that a T weld is stronger than a butt weld, they do completely different jobs for a start and a butt weld should be as strong or stronger than the base metal, so that is as strong as any good weld, also mig doesn't use an argon co2 mix, thats called mag technically, mig stands for metal inert gas, and mag for metal active gas, or both can be called gmaw (gas metal arc welding) ;)
