  • is that jumping because the heli isn't at the same energy potential as the line? i remember someone telling me that electricity weakens as you go farther out so even if you're on the ground and there's a downed power line, the potential from one foot could be different from the other which could electrocute you

  • this is unbelievable

    /watch?v=VHkXWGw7UDU

  • WINNIE ThE POOH TALKING?

  • Thats a CRAZZZZY! AZZ job!!

  • Those pilots are straight elite.

  • yes it's is i've seen this show there looking for crack in the strands . the pay wow

  • Could someone let me know if this is a documentary and if so where could I find it? Also it is real look up faraday principle and it will explain how if 2 things are charged at equal voltage and nether earthed there will be no displacement of energy however if there is a difference in charge and in is earthed it's zappo!

  • Awesome!

  • good stuff

  • Wow.

  • Don't know wheather to believe this or not. Seems a bit precarious letting the guys 'shin' along the HT cables. Also, what was the sparking from helo to cable, the helo was insulated from ground, but static might account for it. I don't know. Good video if it's real.

  • its real. no trick editing/graphics.

  • @roddyk05 I think the arcing you see between helo and cable might be simply them getting rid of static electricity in a safe way, since there's a lot of it built up from the friction between the air and the helicopter rotor blades. This is why, if you're rescuing someone in the sea by heli, you always make sure to drop the winch into the water before using it to winch someone up, as it discharges all the static buildup harmlessly.

  • @roddyk05

    It is realistic.

  • @roddyk05 Corona discharge due to sharp edges on the helicopter and the high voltage potential, and some is caused by the static of the helicopter in the wind wind, but the majority is because of the alternating voltage crossing zero and 500KV positive then negative, and the carona discharge causes the helicopter to have some resistance though the air.
