  • I really like your upside down garden but I was just wondering how you put the plants upside down in the containers.

  • @1228Jeremy first thing i do is cut a 2" diameter hole in the bottom. I then take a coffee filter and cut one slice from the outside edge to the center (it will kinda look like a ms. pacman). put the seedling down thru the hole with the rootball in the container. put the coffee filter between the rootball and the container to keep soil from coming out. fill the rest of the container with your soil and you have it! thanx for watching and asking!

  • I tried these last year (2010). Not sure about this method. Had a good crop, but the tomatoes lacked flavor. In normal growing the rain/water (and thus the nutrients) flows down to the roots. With this method, the water and nutrients leach and drain away from the roots and flows out of the container and on to the ground below. Upside down is a very interesting idea, and looks good, but the fruit and vegetables do not taste too good. I would like to hear other views.

  • @Scholargypsies Appreciate your opinion. I only plant them like this as I have a small back yard and they are easy to maintain. Do you have any vids uploaded? Once again, thanks for commenting.

  • This year will be the first time I grow watermelon. I'm scared. lol How hard is it to grow?

  • @MissVillainess I had NO success with watermelon. Pls let me know how you do!!

  • reduce the sun exposure for the strawberry plants.

  • Hey, great vid! I have a full garden growing of those invisible plants. I can mail you guys some seeds if you would like to try those out. Peace!

  • @Sventasis That would be awesome! I'll send you some invisible cash! Thanks for commenting!

  • Thanks for posting your video. I'm going to try some of your suggestions.

  • @jwdicks You are welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting. Let me know how you do!

  • they look great really green and healthy

  • Thanks much! I have found that the most important thing is to water them regularly. Since everything I have is in containers, they drink up the water fairly quickly.

  • hi...what kind of soil did you use? i just did mine and i used potting soil instead of garden soil...is that a mistake?

  • First..I don't endorse the brand, this is just what I use. I mix 1/3 Miracle Gro Garden Soil for Flowers and Veggies, 1/3 Miracle Gro Potting Mix w/ Moisture Control and 1/3 Bumpercrop. I sprinkle in a little blood meal and a little bone meal. I also crush up 2 egg shells and put them in the tomato soil. I am by no means an expert...there are a lot of better gardeners out there...that's just what I use. Thank you for asking and good luck with yours!

  • Thanks a lot. I appreciate it. I'm very impressed by your containers for sure.

  • Everything looks great! Good luck with everything! Have you fertilzed your strawberries? They look dry and nitrogen deficient. Just a guess.

  • No...I have not. But thanks for the tip. I know your strawberry leaves were as green as ever. Thanks again!
