ohmigosh!!! I never knew anyone else who had ever heard of this album...I hunted down a copy a couple of years ago....I grew up listening to Don and others of this time...makes my week to know there are others out there!!! thank you
This is a good day for me.The last time I listened to Bowman,it was Dads records in the mid-80s,along with several pre-jello puddin pos,fat albert Bill Cosby albums.
Thanks so much for putting this out here. It was one of my daddy's favorites. I didn't realize he did songs from real experiences. I'm watching The Wilburn Brothers Show on RFDTV right now featuring Don. He's great!
Don had some 45's that never made it to LP.....I'm listening to a copy of his version of "Jole Blonn" right now....he also had a different version of "Dear Harlan Howard" that I'm assuming came off of a 45-I heard it years ago on an oldies show on local station KTMO but sadly don't have a copy of it anymore....there's also "My Voice Is Changing" that I have on a 45 and I think he had one entitled "Little Pedro" but I don't have it :-(
i changed my security105 to broadway105 ok umstill waitin for chet atkins will you make me a star song thanks again really a fan of the old songs like ben colder etc thank again for the memories
I love this song my mom used to have all Don Bowmans albums when I was a kid growing up this is great this song and chet atkins will you make me a star thats a good one also
Don's latest album is pretty good too. After talking with his daughter Jackie for awhile now, I realize that nearly all his songs come from real experiences! Click on 'more info' and check out his myspace page. His album "Very Funny Stuff" is available there! I have my copy and there are songs that were new to me! thanks for checking in!
Thanks for these, been looking forever. Do you have Little Diesel Driving Devil? Please post everything you have. I grew up with this stuff playing on the console stereo anytime my truck driving dad was home.
Another Bowman fan checks in! I have all the albums and some singles. I have LDDD on vinyl, but no phono player. When I find a good one, I'll grab it. For now, I'm just pulling these from tapes I made for listening in the car. "Freddy Four Toes" is being uploaded right now, so look for it in a few hours. I plan on uploading EVERYTHING Don did eventually. Bear with me, I'll get there...
Thank you all for putting Don Bowmans music out for all to hear! I learned about him about 15 years ago, and am having SO much fun turning my friends on to his humor. PLEASE load all you have on here, ungkay? I'd LOVE to hear Dear Fred, and Mr. Dj again! 1TigerBird, and bandi26, I salute you and all your efforts. I can't wait to get Dons NEW CD! Peace, to ya all.
This one and "That'll Never Sell Records" were true Bowman songs. Looks like Willie co-wrote one song on this album and there are a couple of other co-writers credited with some of the other songs. I'll post the credits in the "About This Video" section, and maybe you can help me id the other writers. But I think the "Nelson" credit on "Just Because" is a dead give-away. Maybe you can help me id the musicians too. The piano player is just super! I see no credits on the album for them...
My late wife turned me on to Don Bowman, I wish she was here to hear these one more time. Thanks for putting these out there!
