@Skater85382 I understand your point, but(t) if that was ENTIRELY true lads would have an F1 engine (OR sound recordings) under their beds...instead of all those girlie mags, what?
The whole reason you are seeing the flames out of the exhaust isnt because there is something wrong with the motor. It's because they are pumping soo much fuel into the motor that some of it passes through the motor unburned, but when it reaches the exhaust pipes it gets ignited from their heat. Besides, they wouldnt test an F1 motor on fuel thats of lesser quality than what they run during a race. What usable data would they get from a motor running on shitty fuel?
The engine wasn't misfiring. They were running it through a simulation of a track, and the spark was cut on gearshifts. It's also normal for engines to backfire on the overrun when the throttle closes.
Good post, like all the other F1 engines, I really enjoy watching this shit. I read in a Toyota F1 magazine it takes something like 70 man hours to make one exhaust and theyre good for one race (apparently a thing skilled persons can do better than machines).
que es musica? lo que te hace bibrar, sentir, lo que te emociona... entonces esto es de las mejores sinfonias del mundo. deberian sacar un cd cada año con el sonido de los motores en cada una de las fechas que se corra, seria un exito
Maybe you already know this... but some other people might not. They run simulations on the dyno of each circuit. It simulates (as close as possible) what the engine would be doing as the driver lapped the circuit. Very cool.
You are correct in that they do run simulations of each track on the dyno, however I think that for durability testing they usually run the Monza simulation as it has the greatest duration of time spent accelerating (and therefore at high revs in 7th gear), and it the most stressful circuit for the engine.
omg that is sweet. Did you know that an f1 car idals hotter than when it is moving because it does not have fans? That is why they use the fans before the race and dont want to long of a wait at the start.
i love see the tubes glowing in the dark! :-D

would be good if they could give you a internal view of the exhaust port to see the exhaust valve!
donkracing 3 years ago
Not for much, but at 17,000 RPM +, I don't think you'd see much of anything.
Ferrariman60 3 years ago
It's better to be a little richer than leaner right ? You try to make an engine that doesn't misfire a little @18,000 rpm's
jasonNorCal 3 years ago
If there was a problem like that they would have stopped the test, and if anyhting the fueling is more consistant for testing purposes.

was there an over fueling or valve problem on the right bank, as you look at the video different flame patterns?
dvkal 4 years ago
chances are the fuel is not as refined as the race going fuel is, hence why it is not buring correctly
vectorm1299 3 years ago
Maybe they were setting the computer. Or they have an odd firing order.

Look at the size of the fuel line running to the front of the engine. We use lines that size on helocopters.
