songs those days were so divine and out of the world!!! S Janaki is a legend. She deserves a bharat ratna! Just listen to these kannada songs Shiva shiva enneda nalige yeke(Hemavathi) Bhuvaneshwariya nenemanasave(Mareyada Haadu) Jayagowri jagadeeshwari(Swarna Gowri) Nagisalu neenu (Gaalimaathu) Omme ninnanu(Gaalimaathu) Nambithe ninna naadhadevathe(Sandhya raga) All difficult songs to sing.... But S Janaki has rendered so beautifully
excellent janaki . I seriously don't have words to explain how i reacted after listening to your rendition. Genius born on earth , Noone can match upto you Lovely <3
Very conveniently people have ignored the genius of the maestro, the great Karukurichi P.Arunachalam-they have all showered praises on all others but this one. It will take years for someone like him to come before we reach the heavenly abode.
This song is simply great .50 YEARS after the film is released we listen to this song becuase of the superb singing by madam s.janaki, divine nadhaswaram by karukurchi arunachalam, music by s.m.subbiah naidu and of course good acting by actress savithri and gemini ganesan in this movie.
I am a little disappointed to see the highest rated comment for praising the star's lip movements. I am a big fan of Savithri - She is the greatest actor of all time - but let's give praise where it is due - credit goes to S. Janaki and to the even more wonderful Nadaswaram
This was a song I used to hear near dawn as my mother got us ready for school. Talking about circa 1961. I relate this song to dawn. The percussionist was brilliant feeding the main instrument.
Complete close up shots for this song.No actress dare to do this these days.
Very difficult to sync the lip for this difficult song sung by some one with no/little music knowledge. Savithri amma is perhaps the greatest actress in India.
I could feel and realise the hard work they put in and their dedication. Absolutely no gimmicks. Pure class. I am blessed to see/hear this . Absolutely brilliant.
No/little technology those days. But still this song mesmerizes us. I salute and bow in front of these the legends Karukuruchi Sri Arunachalam, Savithri amma, S. Janaki amma, Gemini Ganesan.
No retakes for recordings those days. So greats are Karukuruchi Sri Arunachalam and S. Janaki amma.
This song is very interesting and melodious, each and every nadaswara artist tried to leaarn and play in every concert, like marriage functions etc., This song is in Telugu also started like Neeleela padeda deva ,thanks to keep it in this video.

One of the best songs ever made in Tamil movies in the last century. Great master piece . Even for S.Janaki, to repeat this might be difficult. RE MIX culture now a days, in movies, has set-in. They should try this song , in one of the new movies, so that it gives an opportunity ,for the younger generation, to hear and appreciate this music. In my view, this song is equal to, if not better than Jai ho ! !
golden words can not repeated.
For those of you listening to this after hearing it on Airtel and too young to have known the original song in its heydays, check out some similar and equally beautiful songs, especially Paattum Naane Bhaavamum Naane and other songs from Thiruvilayadal. You'll really appreciate the raaga alapana and instrument blending towards the end of the songs, not to mention the incredible singing, like in this one. Please ignore what may seem as weird acting!
i first heard this song in airtel super singer 2 .its sung by alka.i'm really thankful for her.i would have missed a greatest song in my life if she wouldnt have sung it . wat a song.within this short period i have heard this song more than a thousand times. a pristine voice of janaki combined with the nathashvaram is really amazing. i'm sure a song like this one can not be composed anymore. also the acting is incomparable. today's actress should watch this song and learn.thanks for uploading

i am 49 years old i hear this song when i am 8 years old on gramaphone and until today i was searching for this song, resonly on asianet idea starsinger anju sung this song and i got the movie name and heard today fully, while hearing my eyes were shedding tears , no comparison for this song, jacob zachariah from kuwait.
The song is about Lord Muruga and his beauty. The song has been sung praising his outlook and his abilities as a Lord of the tamil language. The song comes from the movie "Konjum Salangai" sung by Mrs. S.Janaki.
Even though their mother tongue is telugu, janaki's tamil and savitri's lip movements are awesome.... so only she was called Nadigayar thilagam... even we have a replacement for nadigar thilagam, the space left out after savitri remain vacant in indian film industry.....
@goodboyla This song is prayer song in Tamil to Lord Muruga taken in Sanctum sactoram of a temple with master piece with legendary Nagaswaram-long pipe like flutelike organ by Karukkurichi Arunachalam Music by SM Subbia Naidu sung by S Janaki a superlative team.

Karukkuruchi's Naathasvaram is the easy part because he is Karukkuruchi Arunachalam. But imagine Janaki singing to his accompaniment even at her young inexperienced age.

@shreemahesh True!:) they cant even talk well, how could you expext it:) them to do.. hehe they only know how to display thier body like a doll in show case:)
S.Janaki ammagaru- words fail to describe your unbelievable vocal talent. You are a super woman, so to say. No other female playback singer can perhaps sing such difficult songs with so much ease...Calling you "Great" is far too inadequate. When is the Govt of India going to honour you with a suitable Padma award?
awesome ! want 2 one more song ''Senthoor murugan kovileley oru sethiyai nan keten'' will anbody help in this ? if u ,will be gratidude 2 them...shiva
truly great music , both vocal and instrumental. they neither compose nor sing songs like this any more. shame on all the current artists and music directors.
the song is fully occupied in my mind.i dont know how to thank the uploaders of this wonderful song.need not to say that this song is freely flow from the voice of janaki like a beautiful stream.karai kuruchi have done his wonderful (music) nathaswaram...by sivashanmugam
my name is raj and working in dubai, in fact, this video has given a warmth for my feelings and passinations. Thank you all concerned to make the video a grand success
Thank you very much for posting such a wonderful song! The song combines with the voice of Janaki in her early days and The Nadhaswara (Nagaswara) vidhwan the great Karukurichi Arunachalam! It is very sad that our country has forgotten the great artist!
goodboyla, the song is in praise of Velan, the south Indian manifestation of Karthikeya. The lyrics essentially wants the God to come and bless her. The invocations, meaning more or less the same, are stated in different ways.
The song is arguably the toughest film song to sing, specially when Janaki throws some extremely difficult octaves to match with the wind instrument (nagaswaram, an instrument usually used on auspicious occasions).
I am cannot express my gratitude on hearing of this song this is life time wondering song i thank youtube on displaying this song old is gold the ever brilliant
I am a 56 years old Sikh and a Punjabi in Malaysia. i used to hear this song on my neighbours radio when i was young. its been imbedded in my unconscius memory ....until today i hum it unconsciously...its a simply great musical piece ...tho i dont understand a word of the lyrics.can anyone tell me what is it all about
@goodboyla They used to play this song in the temple near my home everyday when I was a small kid. Now i'm 26, I wanted to listen to this song for a long time.. now I searched it here and its feeling amazing to hear it again. I think our case is very similar. :)
Its a Song depicts about lord Muruga (subramaniam), second son of Shiva . This song was sung by s.janaki a veteran singer many languages . The lyrics meant the lord to come to the world . I am really glad you liked the song .... As we do not have language for music.
Hi, I cannot express my gratitude to you for putting up this song. I have been searching high and low for stunning song by Janakiamma. I am in awe of her. I thank YouTube for this brilliant forum and you for making this gem available to fans like me. Again thank you a million times.
When I watched Singara velane deva in the sixties, I would have never even dreamt of having this wonderful oppertaunity to listen to this clip at home. Nathaswaram and the voice never left my mind since then. I am fortunate to have found this clip. Thank you.
'Un isai yendra inba vellathile neendhuvatharku ododi vandha ennai yematradhe shanta' LMAO! But I lub the song thou, S.Janaki at her best :) I thought Savitri did an ace job in the song, its difficult to lip sync such songs without the knowledge of music - pallai odaikira swarangal! :D
Combination of Karukurichi's Nadaswaram & S.Janaki's melodious voice make this song all time hit of Tamil film Society.Kudos to all those involved.Best regards from Shyamala Ramakrishnan,Toronto,Ontario, Canada.
yes, the incomparable nadaswara chakravarti Karukurichhi Arunachalam. The voice and nadaswaram were separately recorded and combined. In early 1960s that was considered amazing!
thanks a lot bbsarav for uploading this song i have heard this song manytimes but this is the first time i am able to watch it .thanks again karukurichi arunachalam's nathaswaram is really immortal as well as janaki amma's voice

S. JANAKI, a versatile singer. Also, S. JANAKI is my all time favourite singer.

its really a fight between the vocal brilliance of Janaki with that of Nadaswaram brilliance of Arunachalam...but the winner is both of them....

Thank you very much for posting such a wonderful song! The song combines with the voice of Janaki in her early days and The Nadhaswara (Nagaswara) vidhwan the great Karukurichi Arunachalam! It is very sad that our country has forgotten the great artist!

God Bless you for posting this fantastic epic musical composition.
Never expected to be able to ever hear this since I left my beloved county.

goodboyla, the song is in praise of Velan, the south Indian manifestation of Karthikeya. The lyrics essentially wants the God to come and bless her. The invocations, meaning more or less the same, are stated in different ways.
The song is arguably the toughest film song to sing, specially when Janaki throws some extremely difficult octaves to match with the wind instrument (nagaswaram, an instrument usually used on auspicious occasions).

yes, the incomparable nadaswara chakravarti Karukurichhi Arunachalam. The voice and nadaswaram were separately recorded and combined. In early 1960s that was considered amazing!
