  • I understand that everybody loves to get excited, but we get so caught up in the hype that we become religious and exist off of how the prior generations worshiped God rather than coming into relationship with Christ for ourselves, we ease our conscious by hearing a preacher sermonize a repetitive message wrapped in various ways We do not reach for higher revelations, we do not seek Gods presence we have started to seek who can whoop the best That is heartbreaking!

  • @CelestineBoi-I must agree with you. But I must say that when both put in the proper place then it will allow two generations to be merged together to worship

  • @ministerdw - Thanks for that bro. - I like both styles of worship but as a Minister myself I just think that we should inspire change by the level of power of which we opperate - that takes sacrafice but I promise God will always send a sign at the end of the message - also- I don't care if he whoops or not I just noticed that more emphasis was put on his style than what he was saying - so to me its a destraction from the message thats just where I was coming from

  • @CelestineBoi I completely agree with you sir. AS a preacher myself, I agree that whooping is enjoyable, but if there is no substance, how can the people eat. Lets stay focused on the word. The word in itself should be enough for us to shout, not the organ, not a whooping preacher. But because JESUS CHRIST LIVES HALLELUJAH!. praise God for this preacher and all of our clergy.

  • Can somebody tell me why they sing when they preach? I love the sermons but I've never understood whyt they sound like they sing? Serious question.

  • It's a combination of the - "The Art of Preaching - Homiletics with a twist of Celebration" or in a more modern term "whoopology. After the preacher hs imparted the word into your life, he himself celebrates in his own way and his own style of closing the sermon on a "Spiritual Praise.".

  • Pastor Wood's sermon is an excellent example of traditional Black preaching oratory. Many Black preachers {and some non-Black preachers} use a half-singing/half talking cadence for their sermons. Some singing preachers will incorporate one or more songs in their sermons. Google Black church memories for an online discussion of this and other Black church traditions. Btw, pastorwiggins, thanks for helping me connect 'hoop' with 'whooping'. That word wasn't used in my Blk Baptist church.

  • its a black thang! its called whooping and its gravy on the sermon

  • sweet Jesus

  • Laud have mercy - to God be the Glory! Excuse my english...Now this don't make no dog-gone sense for Pastor Woods to be closing like that. Preach SirPull it Woods and Preach anyhow.

  • @mcbcdlwa Martin Luther King gave his life that people would not say that word . .

You can have God's anointing if you desire it and pay the price but the Lord will give you His own gifts for you .

That's how he got it by praying and fasting and crucifying his flesh and giving up the world and giving God his time and life and body . Romans Ch . 12 verse 1 .

  • Say It Tim!
