There are so many things that people seem to ignore when watching this video and claiming the GT-R sucks. The GTR didnt launch, he just floored it, while the diesel had to brake boost. The GT-R clearly won. Im not sure any of you have been to a track before, but the arent actually racing to see who reaches the end first.... its about time and trap speed. The GT-R had a marginally quicker ET, but blew it out of the water on trap speed, meaning it had far far stronger mid track acceleration.
@philritter21 Flooring it is a launch in the gtr GODZIRRAAA!!! Unless you turn off the VDC, which isnt much faster and mostly just makes for a rough takeoff thanks to the crazy wheelhop. Impressive vehicles, weve had 1 2009 gtr + the 2013 on order at the shop here and plenty of cummins pickups, both amazing in their own right, but to see a 12v move like that... hoooooly schnitzel haha

@carmastrikes This video was loaded to youtube in 2009, and that Dodge is a 90's model. They probably purchased that truck used for $10,000 or less. I can get a truck just like that for $6000 right now...
@800hennessy 5 grand maybe to get a high mileage older cummins but you gotta put some money into it to make it that quick and with that brake torque im assuming its auto and those things blow up with alot of power to them without a build and thats about 3-4 for a tranny alone so its prolly at least 15 spent, maybe more maybe less but definately not 5
@branswiss3 My best friend bought a truck identical to this one except it was a single cab. It had a messed up fuel pump or something simple. He bought the entire truck for $800 and it had like 275,000 miles. It also had a bigger turbo. And fixed the fuel pump for a couple hundred dollars.

Giant Dodge means shaped like a brick and probably weighed close to 6,000 lbs and isn't AWD like the GT-R. GT-R won, but not by much at all. So you get something that can run with a GT-R while costing less (including mod cost), less maintenance cost and you can use it to tow loads that are 10,000+ lbs.

I would be ashamed if my 120k doller car cant beat a 8000lb dually. If you pause it and zoom in right at the 40 sec you can see the cummins beat it by about 3/4 a car
Maybe I'm mistaken here but it looks like the GT-R was slightly ahead on the cross line in addition to the 1/4-mile time. You might be able to see it if you're quick enough to pause the video right at the top of 00:39 immediately before it hits the 40th second.

Well i live in the Detroit and have a Bachelor Degree in Automotive Engineering and now i work for Chrysler as a Regional Sales Manager and use to work for Ford and i think that makes me know more about vehicles than you do. Diesel truck are builit to last and you can trash them up and they will still keep going.

Hell, tie the Civic, GTO, Impreza, and GTR together on one side and the ram on the other. Bet the ram would drag all of them, even with 2 awd cars against it. It's not that the truck is blazingly fast, it's that the trick weighs over 6000lbs, can do real work and still be fairly quick, even competing with the $100k GTR. And I bet that truck could be built for less than $10

@VindicatedNinja my powerstroke weighs a good 500-1000 more ibs then that cummins and makes about 590hp and runs 12.5s. a 12 sec dually cummins is probably making around 500-550hp
no way did the truck jump the gun, and look at the end of the dragstrip see where the concrete dragstrip ends? thats where the sensors are for the finnish lights, the truck made it across first, go ahead play it over and pause it just before they cross over, the truck goes through first.
I am a fan of both, and as much as i respect the Ram I must say that it jumped the gun> Running 103MPH in the 1/4 mile is impressive for a truck but the GT-R should have ran low 11's and over 120mph. it fell short by a large margin. These GT-Rs normally take EVERY-thing off the line, no matter what. the gt-r also has a 0-60 of 2.9 seconds..sorry the big ram cant pull that off!
@svt89 not really cause a few more mods and that GTR is running faster then 12's , its arguably more comfortable inside,and you can also road race it, with that being said People underestimate the straight line speed/power of turbo diesel trucks they are bad ass,but the overall variables are just not there compared to a sports car
@fresh81steez Turbo Diesel trucks are some of the fastest vehicles you can get. They have all the power of those expensive spots cars with the practicality of a truck. If you want to see a really fast truck, get some weight reduction.

@oop531 and how many 5th wheel trailers could that Impreza or civic or gto pull? That ram could easily pull a 15k lb load. Hell, tie the Civic, GTO, Impreza, and GTR together on one side and the ram on the other. Bet the ram would drag all of them, even with 2 awd cars against it. It's not that the truck is blazingly fast, it's that the trick weighs over 6000lbs, can do real work and still be fairly quick, even competing with the $100k GTR. And I bet that truck could be built for less than $10

@Milehighsnake98 ya you got some points there the trucks are badass like that but when it comes down to racing i just absolutely dislike trucks and would go for the car or bike. BUT also i dont see any truck that can handle on a track as wells as cars can, drag race ya trucks are good but when it comes down to corners they will most likely crash and burn, literally if they hit something. also yes they weight a lot but they got a big ass engine with 2x the HP than cars so that cancels the weight.

@9312valve My bad, was thinking of the petrol engine Dodge makes. Btw, the GT-R can be driven very easily as a daily driver all though I have no argument for the towing capability. P.S. The GT-R only has two turbos and only has half the displacement of the dodge, just for future reference.

The gt-r is a what 2009 or 10 or maybe an 08 but that dodge is 5000 pounds heavier and 9 to 13 or 14 years older depending on if its a 12 valve or 24 and why can't these tuner car fags give props to a diesel when needed? I am a fan of both, and as much as i respect the Ram I must say that it jumped the gun> Running 103MPH in the 1/4 mile is impressive for a truck but the GT-R should have ran low 11's and over 120mph. it fell short by a large margin. These GT-Rs normally take EVERY-thing off the line, no matter what. the gt-r also has a 0-60 of 2.9 seconds..sorry the big ram cant pull that off!

Stall converter, anti-lag, 2 step are all forms of launch control. When JOHN and TONY are in their top fuel cars and you hear them tach up then launch guess what that is.
