So let me understand this, there is a treatment for this syndrome. Why??? These people are probably healthier than you or I. So, now we need to go and fix something that isn't broken. What we should do is find a way to create this syndrome in the "normal" population. These folks will probably live longer than us!
technically the levels of growth hormone are ELEVATED because, feedback inhibition is lost in Larons dwarfism... He was right about the receptors part though... IGF-1 therapy is a good way to attack this disorder but, it must be done while one is a child...
Amazing, I just saw this in late night 60 mins News. These dwarfs are simply amazing. They are proportional as well as they have immune to diabetes and cancer.
In a small rural village in Europe, the villagers have a genetic mutation that allows them to be resistant to diseases caused by high cholesterol. Despite binge drinking and fatty food, and their thick, clot-looking bood vessels, they are perfectly healthy and fine and lived till a ripe ol'age.
It should not be surprising that their life expectancy is very old, since smaller body types deal with aging well in terms of tissue and bone as well as circulation.
It brings to mind the Indonesian island of Flores and the palaeoanthropological discovery of the meter tall remains of what would later be named 'Homo Floresiensis'.
youre probably find that these people living in remote villages are not exposed to the crap food and toxins that we are in our so-called 'civilized' parts of the world.
Look at people in Europe a few hundred years ago, they were also partly better off from a health + nutrition point of view.
I didnt hear about people dieing of cancer and diebetes 2 hundred yrs ago.
And that's why I think we've stopped evolving. think about it. All the crap that we've been ingesting, putting in our bodies have shifted the way we develop. As for cancer, What if that was the Key thing for us to develop or evolve. maybe cancer is what cause us to go from the ocean to land. As for the people from the middle ages, they died young from sword, arrows, magic missles and fireballs. They didn't get a chance to grow old and develop cancer.
Your mom's a stfu. fuck you too!!! you fucking piece of white trash!!!!! yeah go ahead and eat you all you can you skimpy whore and end up like big fat mama
these people indeed are special and wouldn't it be fantastic to find that one gene perhaps that would cure cancer among other deadly illnesses~great vid!!
Seems like we are getting closer and closer to finding the cure for cancer... Thanks Ecuador for the great contribution..........

Laron - Larynx...?
Any connections, I wouldn't presume so.. I'm just curious lol x
amyrollin 2 years ago
No, it's named after Zvi Laron, the man who discovered the syndrome.
JuliatheCoolest 2 years ago
Ah well, haha good guess I suppose lol. But yeah would make sense to be named after him :)

Hopefully Hollywood manages to avail from this finding, and is able to properly exploit it. I'm sure they'd be great in comical movies.

they aren't dwarfs, they prefer to be called little people. the term 'dwarfs' is insulting to them
nataliep101 3 years ago
Don't encourage that, dwarfs are dwarfs because they dwarfs.

That's not how evolution works, we have stopped evolving because weak people are reproducing instead of dieing.
