I completely agree. Aretha and Hudson add so much soul, feeling, and power to their voice and songs that makes their musicality one to reckon with. You can feel all of Aretha's emotion in this song and all her songs. Other gospel legends such as Mahalia Jackson, Donnie McClurkin, Cleavant Derricks, Kirk Franklin also share these. But the only other place you will find this kind of soul and gospel is in God's House.

Sigh. Wish she'd just sing it straight. The melody is all but lost in her vocal acrobatics. Ability in all honour, but how about a little restraint? Less is more, and all that jazz.
She sings in some particular stylistics, and it fits it, not other type of music. That's nice, old type of rich gospel/soul singing. I always try to listen to music in it's context . Oscar Peterson played rather more, than less, but still he was one of the greatest. But, he played bebop/hardbop style, and it's one of it's characteristics. If you want some other type of gospel, just play another performance, there is so many of them here.
It's all good--her emotion shines through and guides those extra notes to weave a sonic tapestry. This is real SOUL. None of that fake stuff you hear these days all processed in the studio with electronic pitch correction.

I have tremendous respect and admiration for Aretha Franklin. I feel that she had a difficult life and used her God-given talent to uplift humanity, much like Mahalia Jackson. Miss Jackson was old enough to be her mother, but one day listening to the child Aretha sing, Mahalia said "this one's going to be great." It certainly was true. Aretha is a balm in Gilead.

The way she approaches lyric along with her technique and passion! Wow! I don't even have the words. Another singer i like a lot is Jennifer Hudson. Some say she screams, but i love that raw energy. I completely agree. Aretha and Hudson add so much soul, feeling, and power to their voice and songs that makes their musicality one to reckon with. You can feel all of Aretha's emotion in this song and all her songs. Other gospel legends such as Mahalia Jackson, Donnie McClurkin, Cleavant Derricks, Kirk Franklin also share these. But the only other place you will find this kind of soul and gospel is in God's House.

She sings in some particular stylistics, and it fits it, not other type of music. That's nice, old type of rich gospel/soul singing. I always try to listen to music in it's context . Oscar Peterson played rather more, than less, but still he was one of the greatest. But, he played bebop/hardbop style, and it's one of it's characteristics. If you want some other type of gospel, just play another performance, there is so many of them here.
