  • Worst. Guitarist. Ever.

  • good job. should make another one. smells like teen spirit solo is so good. underrated guitar player fer fucking sure. if you like melody and not finger wiggling

  • i love the SERVE THE SERVANTS SOLO, if i'm not wrong tht one is the faster of him, and the most rocking!

  • Kurt Cobian?'

    is Kurt Cobain

  • so much more of his guitar shit out there, his solos were it

  • great job

    fucking love this

    part duex?

  • and sappy??

  • @Musicadictos

    read description lol

  • 3 minutes of video but there's no guitar solo. just some heard a bad guitarist trying to do "bend" technique.

  • @mgokalparslan Why'd you watch the video, then..? I mean, if I don't like a musician, I don't really check them out...

  • @Iguanatronable

i don't listen them much. i also know they have no talent, or ever written nice guitar solos. when i saw the headline, i checked maybe there's a good guitar solo. result: dissapointment. besides, don't you ever listen stupid music when you're surfing, or walking in the street?

  • @mgokalparslan you sir are a moron, kurt cobain did some of the best bending in the industry

  • @nayco4196 no -no he didn't lol (coming from nirvana fan) just cuz u like someone doesn't mean they are the best or even some of the best

  • in bloom, heart shaped box, about a girl, and smells like teen spirit, need to be replaced with sifting, endless nameless, aero zeppelin, and scentless apprentice, because the ones you put in the video are easy to play and just his popular solos.

  • @akecleon1 sorry i mean serve the servants not scentless apprentice

  • people try to say kurt wasnt a good guitar player but i think he was awesome just cause his solos sounded so trippy and so much like the riffs of the song

  • Great job, but you are right,.. his best solo is in "Sappy",.. it is not easy to get it right,.. and it is very soulful,. very deep..

  • who is the solo?

  • Great solo's come to life when Kurt Cobain plays them. All Nirvana's Guitar was awesome, and most of it was Kurt, because dave was the drummer, and Krist was the bassist. Nirvana rocks

  • listen to children of bodom and you know what is a solo. curt kobain wasn't really known of his solo skills...

  • @bigfishship Death metal blows.

  • @DeftonesFan867 It's not any fucking deth metal! COB is a solid rock band! a HARD one...

  • @bigfishship children of bodom? wtf i hate 3 minutes solos

  • @jakmgrunge Yeah I hate good musicians too, I totally feel ya

  • i don't hear nirvana because of the solos, i think no one does

  • The best solo is by far on blew :P

  • very nice

  • fuck yeah, I love the pennyroyal tea solo

  • The solo's he did on the songs "Blew" and "Serve the Servants" and "Sappy" are proof that Kurt could solo with the best of them.

  • wheres aero zepplin? lol

  • guitarists play because they want fame and to make music. Real guitarists played because they were depressed. thats what kurt had and a little too much. R.I.P

  • ha ha in bloom's the best one

  • hey, that guitar part in about a girl is really a guitar solo?

  • but he actually only knoew how to abuse power chords, he wasnt muxch of a good guitar player they are still my favourite band

  • the solos from blew and spank thru are pretty good too.

  • I think there's quite a good agreement in the guitar community in that Kurt was actually not a good guitar player; in fact, the level of complexity of his songs is rather low. However, I think the merit of Kurt is that of putting lots of crap together that would sound fairly good in the end. It is in this sense that this video actually makes no sense.

However, it is my belief that the true value of Nirvana is in their originality, creativity, sensibility, passion, conviction, social role, etc.

  • @helltormentor81 I agree, Kurt Cobain was infact not that great of a guitar player, but Nirvana's originality and song writing was amazing.

  • My favorites which are not featured here are Come As You Are and Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle

  • number 12 greatest guitarist on the world

  • he man love buzz intro is bass guitar!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice vid, but why is come as you are missing?

  • blew kurts best solo

  • @99unpredictable The Muddy Banks version had my favorite nirvana solo. He plays it a lot different.

  • i must say, IN BLOOM solo is the greatest.. cos i think its hard to fill solo melody with chord progression like that song, especially with grunge soul. Its little easier when you fill it with brian may solo style or zappa style, but it doesn't fit with the song and nirvana's character. I hope u know what i say ^^ .. But overall, nirvana's songs are full of soul, we all agree with that. :)

  • a guitarist that he reminds me of is George Harrison sorta because George didn't need huge flashy hammer-on solos to make the song better and thats how Kurt is. hes not an AMAZING guitarist like Van Halen or Pete Townshend but he definitely gets the job done. George had a great feel to his solos and so does Kurt.

  • My best solo is when i smashes the shit outa his guitar :) (Just my opinion) :)

  • making noise...thats all this is. i'd say kurt cobain is the most overrated guitar player ever

  • @whiteliongate I´d say your the most underated target for hitmen

  • sifting is by far the best guitar solo kurt wrecks it, token eastern song is good too

  • @yihd

    you need to die.

  • @yihd Then die

  • kurt cobain's songs bring feels of sadness... i-........ can't explain it... am i the only one feeling this way?

  • @TheAppieJj i used to feel sad and sometimes still do but only when i hear sad stories about his life then listen to a sad sing like something in the way but if you do that you're only setting yourself up to fail, try listening to in bloom or lithium

  • 1. Sappy

    2. Serve the Servants

    3. School (Live)

  • i would have put the Aero Zeppelin solo

  • that "solo" from love buzz isnt guitar its bass u tard

  • since it didn't have the song and album title I think it was just intended as an intro.

  • @budbro69

  • Oh, you should of added the Scentless Apprentice solo, in my mind, the best feedback solo ever!

  • well done for appreciating that! kurt used his guitar like it was a from of art, expressionism. he never really did many conventional solo's, which i loved. many people shred the art out of a solo where as feedback and keeping it simple can totally justify a song and the emotion. well done again!

  • 1. pennyroyal tea solo

    2. in bloom solo

    3. school/ teen spirit solo

  • if he wasnt dead(and im fully respect him)he wasnt on that list...billie joe is so much better and he didnt get on to the list...

  • and i*

  • Rolling stones is far from being a reference, really. Digital Dream Door's list makes more sense, but playing guitar is the only sure way to fully appreciate how good other guitarists are.

Cobain was an average-good riff maker, no more.

  • there's no denying kurt was a brilliant singer/songwriter, but to me he was an average guitarist (maybe just above average). he did deliver brilliant riffs, but his solos were mostly sub-par (i really like in bloom though, and school sounds pretty good)

  • Kurt Cobain wasn't a very good guitarist. He knows how to play, no doubt, but to call him your favorite guitarist is just plain ignorant. If you want a good guitarist, turn to Jerry Cantrell or Mike McCready. Kurt's talent was different. It wasn't his guitar, but his melodies and lyrics. His music and lyrics captured the feelings of depression and aggression like no other. Of course, Alice and Chains and Pearl Jam did this very well too. Kurt's talented, but shouldn't be mentioned with Kendrix..

  • I mean Hendrix, my bad

  • @NevasterDarkness Music shouldnt have a tick-all-the boxes when it comes to musicianship. Its all about sound, not how many/how fast/how this that and the other, its purely sound and arrangement. Kurt did what he felt was needed and no more or less was required.

  • That's very true, I will not deny that, but he wasn't exactly able to do more. Take a look at John Frusciante. He could play a simple solo like Scar Tissue, and then completely go all out on Dani California. Then there are minimalists like Tom Morello. While he couldn't exactly solo traditionally, he was unbeleivably creative. Kurt couldn't really do more than Come As Your Are. I agree with you though, musicianship is about what sounds best.

  • He's one of my favourites along side hendrix, and trust me, i'm not ignorant.

  • kurt cobian

  • Kurt Cobain was a shitty guitarest, a hell of a poet, but a shitty guitarest.

  • kurt was a good guitarist because imagine slash playing his music lol kurt was a great guitarist i dont care what people says

  • kurt cobain was 1 of the best singers best song writers but he was not the best guitarist, BEFORE U HIT THE THUMBS DOWN BUTTON!!! listen to this i bet kurt could never play like slash GNR or mettalica, but i bet they could never play like kurt either. Kurt Cobain was a 1 of a kind R.I.P. kurt cobain

  • kurt had feel ...... FEEL is the most important thing... and his solos made so much sense... they werent just technically induced noise....

  • codehendrix is right, its the feel and passion of the music that makes someone a great guitarist, and Kurt had feel in EVERY single song, no matter what album, Kurt is under looked as a guitarist, Kurt didn't want to show off, he wasn't about that, he was about writing melodies too took people into the song, which he did. It doesn't matter how simple a song is, its about if it sounds good. Like the solo to School, he could dish out a good solo! Kurt is one of the few worthy of holding a guitar.

  • @codehendrix yea truth

  • @codehendrix Yea just like how i can Feel my hand when I prepare to give myself a "stranger"

  • kurt is the best :D

  • the best grunge guitarist and singuer ever born

  • give this guy a break jawsus

  • kurt cobain. let him be remembered as a good song writer but not a guitar great.

  • u cant compare nirvana and the foo fighters because they r 2 totally different bands with totally different styles and kurt was an amazing guitarists and one of the best song writers definately because who else do you know that could write "my mother died every night, its safe to say dont quote me on that" and put it in a song

  • I don't like this list. Not offense, but you've got all of his easy solos from the mainstream albums and thrown them together. I'll tell you one of Cobain's best solos: Aero Zeppelin

  • Kurt Cobain was a great guitarist

  • No he wasn't

  • 12 en la lista que hizo la revista Rolling Stones de los mejores guitarristas... Mmmm...

  • Is maybe a better lyric's writer?

    Fuck you.

  • but kurt still good....

  • so u say kurt cobain isnt a good guitar player... do u know how fucking stupid you sound thats a disgrace to the ramones, the pixies and grunge music. and second of all no offense to the foo fighters but they arent and never will be even close to nirvana as far as musical talent goes

  • how can u compare nirvana to th e foofighters, ... do u know how fucking stupid that sounds, and as far as comparing artists, there just merly influences, kurt was a creative genius leave it at that,

  • Kurt understood that sometimes less is more, being a great guitarist is more than shredding or seeing how fast you can play. His simple style is actually quite innovative.

  • sCHOOL SOUNDS HARD TO PLAY. stairway to heaven has an easy solo? Fuck off cunt it ain't that easy

  • Well, I thought Sappy was Nirvana's best ever solo... well all of the different improvizations of Kurt playing Sappy's solos were amazing... as well as Span Thru's solo from Muddy Banks was sick... and... Breed? lol... any Nirvana solo was sick... besides Come As You Are which was awesome and original but... not enough but was enough... weird...

  • good recopilation =)

  • the name of the video is greatest (coolest) Nirvana guitar solos... not hardest Nirvana solos...

  • the video starts with a bassline

  • A solo doesn't have to be hard to be good. The Stairway to Heaven solo, which people think for some reason is the greatest solo of all time, is easy as shit.

  • hah you dont know much about music do you ?

  • You dont need any scales in solos lol! man the band was one of the best bands of his time but none of his songs had a hard riff

you dont need talent to have talent! but of course its your opinion and i am not going to bother changing it

  • dude who gives a shit who are people lookin up on youtube? him right? so shut the fuck up!

  • nah dude, on there records he never showed his talent try to look up some live or rare solos of his, he's not my favorite, don't get me wrong but he is amazing.

  • how about the solo in "Stain"?

  • The Dive demo is the best..

  • Where is White Lace and Strange or Sappy or Come As You Are?

  • Kurt Cobain...a very very underrated guitarist...put a lot of emotion into his playing...Nirvana rocked the 90s and they still rock today...My favorite band by far!

  • i agree completely, this Kurt Cobain was a legend. you have good taste my friend.

  • serve the servants and come as you are missing come on!!!

  • Where's Come as you are solo ?

  • The reason Nirvana are completely epic is that they share the music with the fans, it's so easy to play and so simple, anyone can play it, and it still sounds epic.

  • white lace and strange solo is my favorite

  • slts is like the easiest but best sounding solo i ever did..

  • The solos of nirvana songs are very easy to play. But sounds excelente NIRVANA 4EVER

  • blandest,i think thats it,has a unbelievable solo,if your calling him a basic musician, listen to that fucking solo man, youd know hes more than basic

  • thank you :)

  • smells like teen spirit is the best song and solo in the world

  • the solo to pennyroyal tea is the best

  • Kurt wanted to write easy songs i heard in an intervirw

  • He wasn't the best guitarist ever, but his riffs and the feeling of melody were the best ever. He put a natural feeling in his music and that was the key to be never forgotten, if you say he was a shitty musician or guitarist oh well, do some songs and make them popular or sound like Kurt's ones. Kurt is the man cause his music is a great influence of many people. His private life shouldn't interest us at all.

  • all good for people to say " oh thats easy i could do that" but the key is to write such catching and cool solos not just to play them

  • His Verse Chorus Verse solo is my favorite.

  • Why can't these faggots nowadays come up with guitar solos like this. I'm a hip hop dude so my opinion doesn't mean alot but I know good music when I hear it.

  • cause they cant, all thay can do, they buy guiter n amps n hit the strings with gay picks

  • you're not looking in the right places

  • thats the beauty about it man, it didnt have to be good musically, it just sounded good. Who cares if you have to be good or not to play it? Nobody, and at least its playable and not bullshit screamo. :D now sit down, roll up a joint, and listen.

  • Actualy, I think we can all agree that the number of copies an album sells doesn't exacly makes it good. Or we would have to face that Britney Spears kicks ass...

Still, the Nirvana song are quite simple and quite catchy. That's important in a band.

However, greatest guitar solos implies some realy kick ass solos and Nirvana just doesn't have them. Try compara them to Deep Purple's Sometimes I Feel Like Crying or even Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms...

  • actually kurt did kill himself. he escaped from the mental institution he was in, went driving, and then shot a gun through his head. that is all true and u cant say otherwise cuz no one else wouldve killed him

  • funny how you say that because the shotgun he used had no fingerprints on it. Watch the 10th anniversary video on his death. I dont think it should be filed under a suicide with so much evidence pointing against it. Even Cobain's grandfather, Leland Cobain, believes Courtney had something to do with it.

  • Their is strong evidence that Kurt Kobain could not of killed himself his was high on heroin and horse tranquilizes he wouldn't of been able to pick up a shotgun or hand gun.

  • thats the biggest bull shit i evr heard, no matter how much shit ure on u can still pick up any gun and shoot ureself in the face?

  • true but the gun he used(a 12 gauge shotgun) was to long for him to pull the trigger unless he used his feet and his shoes were on when he was found. he shot him self in the left temple just so u no.

  • yeah but a lot of people have shotten them selves with shotguns, i hear it all the time on the news and they had it on oprah once, not like its impossible

  • true im not sayin its not possible expecially if the entry point was his mouth but it was "supposidly" his left temple so it makes the trigger farther away from his body.

  • he never in a mental instatution he was in rehab do your homework before you make yourself look like a retard

  • lmfao, shut the fuck up u stupid bitch, ure really gonna try to tell me he wasnt in an institution, u dont evn kno how to fucking spell it, so shut the fuck up lmfao, yeah try to call me a retard

  • you shut up you peice of bloody fucking shit he was NEVER in a mental ANYTHING it was fucking rehab you retarded peice of monkey SHIT FUCKING KILL YOURSELF YOU DAMN ASSHOLE BITCH

  • you shut the fuck up and what the hell, a monkey? u go kill yourself, the world would be a better place without you you monkey shit

  • nah man... spank thru, radio friendly unit shifter, and oh the guilt. as for new wave solos go.

  • kurt didnt kill himself!!

  • oh hell yes he did! i saw it on tv

  • if any "noob" could come up with it then they would sell more then 50 million records. And anyway, his solos aren't very improvised because he basically solos the same way live as he does on record.

  • ya and your thinking is completely right in my mind.

  • BB King's solos ARE improvised you moron.

  • Probably another off the top of my head would be The Man Who Sold The World (acoustic ver. on Unplugged in NY). Little somewhat solo jam that begins after 2nd chorus til the end of song.

  • I would say that In Bloom (Nevermind version) is my favorite. Others after that in no particular order would be Blew (Bleach version),Serve The Servants (In Utero version), Sappy (No Alternative CD version)which was released on CD's hidden track as Verse Chorus Verse. These 4 would definately be included in my top 5 anyway.

  • about a girl

  • Im blooms the best for me but i think all of them are fucking awsome

  • in bloom's sub pop version is better

  • The 80's music sucked. Its all techno keyboard, phasers, echo, weird lyrics, and a fast drumbeat.

  • no its not dumbass. you probably werent even alive in the 80s, so shut the fuck up!!

  • oh,sorry, there were hair bands, low horsepower supercars, the explosion of cocaine use and the wet look, yeah, the 80's were deffinetly great...:/ and no,I wasnt.

  • awesome

  • Nirvana is the greatest who cares if Kurt is gone besides he was murdered

  • He have good solos, with very good musicality. In my opinion is not so good like Jerry Cantrell, Mike Mcredy or Mark Tremonti but best that many guitarrist which their fans (I will not say who are them, but I think that everybody knows who they are!) think that for they use a lot of technics and play very fast are good guitarrists, basically they do only one thing: noise! GRUNGE AND KURT FOREVER

  • AMEN!
