ive done wing chun for ten years and mma for three i know its not it intensely and ive found good chi sau mua thai and ju jitsu really work i have aquestion what about if he throws a wild punch up while you chain punch him down to one side because chain punches kepp your protection low because of the height of your arms ps respect for not being blinded by keeping to tradition and realising we have to move with the times mma does work
@jezthegit in this case the purpose is not to trade shots. so if they start to throw wildly, I would just continue to the clinch as planned. I feel that any technique all styles can work, it's just how much work you put in. The world is huge, with lots of people training hard.
@jezthegit In Wing chun you just go into the chain punch right? Or you block then the chain punch comes. In JKD you kick or do something to get an opening then bring in the straight blast. The Chain Punch works well if your doing it with proper body mechanics moving your hips iwth the punch, relaxing your arms etc etc.
I think your concept is a good one. Yes it would be better if it were street tested. This is what more people need to do. To many people are affraid of change. You can train traditional and once you have mastered it change things up for yourself. If real world situations you use what works for you. If you think about technique you've already lost. No time to think only react. Train Hard..
@MrChiSao thank you for your response. I question many times when a school or instructor really pushes that their stuff is street tested. I try to do what I can at my lab in a safe and intelligent manner. Just some food for thought :)
Street Certified? Have you actually used this in a REAL street fight? At the very least have you SPARRED all out ( with protective gear ) utilizing your theory? I do not mean any Disrespect, but...what one practices, needs to be used in Real Life or at least spar 80% all out...
a theory is a hypothesis that has survived being tested over & over. this is a concept. I'm putting it out there for those who would like to do the testing. I have no means of testing it, a street fight is illegal & I don't beat up my students. All I have is my knowledge, experience & practice, so I have no problem calling this merely a concept.
You are a constnat source of amazing new insights. It had never occured to me to use the chain punch like this - but now that I have seen it I immideatly recignize how usefull that is.
I'm really not happy with how this video came out, but oh well. hopefully people can understand what I'm trying to explain here, and if not, good luck to everyone on their practice and hard work!
I may be wrong, but to me it looks like a tool to constantly keep the pressure up, while constantly inflicting pain and damage to the opponent, and being ready to exploit any opening the other guy offers. Since you are already very close chances are slim to nil that your opponent will produce a false opening to lure you in.
So it combines high pressure swarming with skilled boxing.
Great video, though the sound is barely audible at times. I've been thinking that Wing Chun would be of some value in MMA, but still, your adaptation comes a bit surprisingly to me, though it starts making perfect sense. I'll give it some work, then try it in some of my upcoming sparring sessions... and tell my partners - mainly thai boxers - to blame it on you :-P
Just some playing around with my brother so far since holidays kept me out of the gym. I favor chopping away my opponent's right hand and then a left hook just naturally finds its way to the jawline. By the way, this works in a ground and pound situation (me being on top), too... still, there is a lot to experiment with here.
glad to hear that you have been experimenting with it! I have a free ebook about it on my homepage at k4s.i8(dotcom) it might give you some more insight, take care and thank you for your comment!
This is a great lesson.

MMA world is full of low IQ, over testosterone, steroid brain retarded people. This one is yet another prime example. MMA = Moral, Mental Atrophy!

I would rather show them the beauty of traditional martial arts than to say negative things.

Thank you and wonderfully put Silk, I trust that you would be able to make good use of it!
