  • The Damned Forever xxx

  • best damned song ever

  • TonyRevenge you cheeky twat, that pic at 2.55 of Paul Gray was taken on my camera at the Town & Country Club London in 1992, i'm standing next to him (which you just plastered another PG image over my face). You like ripping off other peoples shit? Maybe you should ask first before mutilating other peoples stuff and trying to pass it off as your own. The nerve.

  • Fantastic song... remember all those years back when it was released it sent my head spinning - still does....great video collage too - covers virtually all apects of their career.

  • great solo, reminds me of dave gilmour's solo on fat old sun by pink floyd

  • The finest guitar solo ever !!!

  • Ignite / Generals / Stranger on the Town / Dozen Girls / The Dog

Gun Fury / Pleasure and the Pain ( w/ The Missing Link) / Life Goes On / Bad Time for Bonzo / Under the Floor Again / Don't Bother Me.

  • Shit hot album. Ive just thrown all my Lps and singles in the skips. Mid life stuff,,,,i kept a single by the chefs and this album. Quality stuff and all that shit. over and out.

  • @onionsonions62 haha! Brilliant quote!

  • There was this American actor who was the star of Christine ( Stephen King film), and had a part in Jaws 2. He was the IMAGE of Vanian!

  • @Noodles37UK Absolutely agree! Keith Gordon, you mean. I've said that before, though he's old and bald now :)

  • @Noodles37UK I thought i was the only one who ever thought that. !!! I've thought that for years. Keith Gordon is his name.

  • @wastedon4loko Yeah I know lol. Every time I saw Jaws 2, I was relieved Gordon didn't get eaten cos he looked like Vanian.

  • One of the best Damned songs ever. I agree, the solo by the Captain is inspiring, as are the harmonies by the band that lead upto it. He (they) are totally overlooked in my eyes. What a fantastic band!

  • Red Vinyl '86.

  • Great slideshow TonyRevenge.

  • The Damned are FAR OUT.

  • Tracey says it's 3-4 feet under your victorian house and the ceilings being so high makes the castle a wee bit cold to heat.

Then they all joined the camping and caraven club and threw their keeeeeys in!!

The Damned are and always will be the dogs bollocks!!

  • Dave Vanian kinda looks like wiL Francis from Aiden...I like :]

  • @XxforevergreendayxX I think you mean the other way around. :-P :-D

  • @TonyRevenge Oh yeah lol i forgot whos the older one ;]] haha

  • Quality!!!

  • Josef Fritzl approves of this song.

  • I always thought the guitar solo sounded like pink floyd's comfortably numb solo.

  • @timelleb I know what you mean......it's very emotional stuff - always brings a tear to my eyes. Not only is it my favourite solo by The Captain, it's my favourite solo by anyone ever. Top stuff.

It's a real pity that Sensible is only viewed as a novelty act by the media, cos his musicianship & song writing skills are sublime.

  • @RedBryn I've uploaded one or two songs. Check my uploads anyway.

I've met him. He put his right arm around me. I decided I'd take something from that right arm and gain confidence playing the guitar. Trust me, that inspiration worked. I just wish I could write Love Policeman, Croydon, Smash It Up or The Universe of Geoffrey Brown.

  • Nice work... Straight to fav's and 5 stars.

All the Damned history in five minutes.

  • love this song , love the album. cheers big bro for introducing me to quality music back then

  • @knavemen my big bruv got me into this band too. my first gig was the 10th anniversery t party at finsbury park when i was 16. like yesterday. :)

  • this song is entrancing

  • Mmm, strawberry scratch'n'sniff, lovely :)

Probably my no. 1 Damned song/album.

  • Yeah, I remember now.....this was the smelly album, crikey, I can almost smell it now !

  • very strange lyrics i read on metro one day and absenthe too, but then dave v was always a genius of mad underated porportions

  • 1:27 what a photograph,RAT FUCKING RULES!.Incredible Musician.

  • Absolute Quality.

  • can`t find the words to say how good this song is, thankyou. love the damned, love strawberries album, love dave, love it all....

  • my favorite Damned song..Strawberries is a mindblowing record.

  • 2:47...

They come to see the dungeons here,

The tourists flock from far and near

They do the town and try the beer.....

  • Lovely Money ,Viv bonzo dog doo da band Stanshall,,""How old were the mummified remains? They sawed his leg off and counted the rings you jerk, big wow...Lovely money..Damned to Death.

  • 1:00... Edward The Bear.

The 7" b-side was better than the album version, and Under The Floor Again may have influenced it.

Note Millar's incredible drumming on Grimly Fiendish's flip-side...

  • Can't believe you missed out 'machinegun etiquette' from the album covers!?!? ...Should have been at 4:52 between 'music for pleasure' and 'the black album'!!

  • I realized that after I put up the video on here.

  • Very good all the same! Pic at 00.30 is my fav ever of Dave Vanian. I recreated it in paint on glass when I was 13!

  • Strawberries was one of the best albums by The Damned - and as agreed with everyone else, one of the most underrated of all times.

  • it's such a beautiful song daves voice is so lovely =)

  • FANTASTIC. What more can I say?

  • Their later stuff is so underrated.

  • So true,I watched them live earlier this week ,they would wipe the floor musically with todays bands.

    How good was Strawberries?

  • Not a single drop-out on it.

From the opening song, Ignite, to the Captain's Don't Bother Me, right at the very end, Strawberries rivals the amazing Black Album that preceded it (sounding like the NME Lol!).

  • great song fantastic! thank you jet Boy for introducing me to its majesty! xxx

  • luv this bloody album & song... i feel like i was born too late & didn't even know of this band (& many others) til 2001, but... better late than never :)

  • Bought Strawberries red vinyl spring 86. It changed my life. Then i saw them at Finsbury Park, Sunday 27th July, 3 months later.

Anyone tell me how to get the better version of Edward the Bear on CD?

  • just saw the damned on Halloween eve and they played this song....great song and band

  • what a combination, daves sexy deep voice and the sitar! Fantastic! I can listen to it forever :)

  • saw some of their lyrics on metro website, this , absinthe, therapy, very weird and original, and of course entertainvanianing!

  • fucking awesome pictures

  • so fkn good

  • quality 80 ssssss
