  • The funny part is that none of those parts are even made by Cannondale.

  • That's not Cannondale's fault you idiot. Your rear changer got wrapped up in the spokes because you landed sideways with the changer in 1st gear. If you came into my bike shop with that I would tell you to go back to BMX.

  • I did that, what happend was you crashed before and bent the derailer when you shifted your derailed got caught in the spokes

  • Wanker

  • SPODE!!!!!!!!

  • That what happend when you use sram mech and Crackandfail

  • @szarybmx

yeah you obviously know your bikes........ cannondale got the that tag line like 20yrs ago when every ones frames were breaking. sold c-dale for 7 yrs and hardly ever seen one break

  • karma

  • wrong bike for that.... low I.Q.

  • 1 in a million chance

  • damn fool. it wasnt even the bike! It was the fact you were too cheap to buy a chain guide.

  • You are a DUMB ASS. It was the derailleur that broke you retard, not the bike.

  • umm, cannondale is a great bike. sram on the other hand is shit, get shimano xtr and you wont have a problem.

  • wow a stair set on a xc bike thats a fucking awesome idea....fucking dumbass

  • "Perfect landing"

    Lands sideways

  • You are a freaking idiot. What Cannondale said is totally true. Jumping a Scalpel which relies on flexing chainstays instead of pivots for its suspension like that is asking for trouble. If you want to jump get a dirt jump bike or a burlier full suspension with more travel.

  • I'm virtually certain that both Cannondale and SRAM would be delighted by your decision to stop using their products. You are exactly the type of loser that nobody (including riders who know what they're doing) wants to deal with.

  • Wow your an idiot that's why you don't jump on an XC bike. and when you land sideways like you did the sideways force on the rear mech sent it into the spokes.

  • "I'm never buying a SMART-car again because the wheel came off when I took it over some boulders."

  • You're sense of entitlement is absurd! You're on an XC race bike with a long cage rear derailleur and a whole lot of extra chain to wrap around those three chainrings up front. You landed sideways and almost hit your stupid face on the stem! No wonder your chain got sucked into your spokes and pulled your derailleur in with it!!! I bet the mechanics at the bike shop and everyone at Cannondale were laughing at you when you tried to plead your case!

  • buy a bmx bike if you're not going to use your brain

  • U r a fucking dumbass!!! If u wanna be doing jumps...learn to stick the landing and get a bike thats meant for that.

  • Learn to ride your bike you tosser.

  • dude the part costs like $50 bucks and your complaining about that after spending 4k on a bike! Just man up. I had the exact same thing happen to me, but it was the SRAM Carbon XO RD +$280 that broke cause of a stick!

  • you're so stupid first your bike isn't made to take the kind of punishment. Second your fork is so weak. Third canndale made the frame not the derailler. forth it looks like the chain was messed up. fifth, you "perfect jump and landing" was not perfect at all. sixth it looks like your derailler hanger broke which happens alot if you do stupid crap like this.

  • Actually you should be embarrassed by this video. If I were you I would delete it.

  • This isn't Cannondale's fault. I still ride my 2000 F500 and have no problems.

  • Don't like the bike anyway. Sorry :(. I have a cannondale rush but I am getting a new bike soon :).

  • My ask is why the heck are you doing jumps like that on a $4k MTB? You should be on a dirt bike, or BMX...if I jumped by Cannondale CAAD 4 like that, I'd expect something to break! If I turned up at Le Tour on my Subrosa, I'd expect to be dropped sharpish. I'd not use a hammer to stir my gravy.

  • not big deal to fix it

  • cannondale makes bike frames!!!

  • @alexcurta and whole bikes

  • And how old are you?

  • And by the way.

    look at your fork!

its fucking weak, you have to make it much harder!

PS: i am sorry for my english, hope you could understand what i am saying xD

  • Cannondale makes bike frames not components. The frame looked perfectly fine. I have owned many of Cannondale bikes and have never had an issue with them. Next time you go freestyling on a mountain bike, at get a chain tensioner...

  • Luckily derailleurs are not too expensive, that was your fault for having it in such a low gear. You lessen the chance of this happening by having your chain on a smaller cog. All you got to do now is tension the loose spokes and get a new hanger and derailleur combo.

  • would a chain slap guard thing help so the chain doesn't do that

  • that was good i wathed it twice...................dumbass, Cannondale makes awesome bike, next time buy a bike with the right style of eq. before you go off fucking around....................and a chain stay sounds like a good choice for you too..............hahahahaha

  • Sorry, but you are a stupid guy!!

  • Yup, not intended use. This bike is a lightweight XC racing bike. If you would've researched this before your purchase you would've seen that this bike would not be covered under such usage. These things are not kept secret.

  • go with shaftdrive

  • Stop riding bikes. crybaby.

  • Stop riding bikes, Crybaby.

  • Brilliant camera work. You captured the moment and aftermath perfectly. Thank you so much for the enlightening shot of the ground.

  • this exact thing happened to me but i was just out riding my road bike, i was 25 miles from home, it was almost dark, and my phone was dead .... it was a dooozzzzyyy!!

  • The shop you got it from should help you out with it. bernhardweitze's comment is correct.

  • Do not land on an angle lol! You slammed the rear into the ground, deliberate damage.

  • perfect landing my ass. you landed on an angle. dont try to jump an xc bike next time

  • GIVE ME THAT AWSOME BIKE U FCKING IDIOT AND GO TO THE DRIVING LESSONS!

  • Only a ginger would wear spandex and tennis shoes.

  • Cannondale is perfect, this guy is stupid...! Buy the right bike... and you will never had any problems you funny chickn!

  • SRAM isn't actually bad.

  • that happened to me once not fun

  • haha nice idiot. ^_^ greets from poland.

  • thats what you grt for having a cheap derailer and wearing spandex

  • Wow. The derailleur hanger is purposely made to be weaker than the frame. It was a purpose design. This was designed so your frame doesn't get jacked. This bike is fine. Get a chain, derailleur and hanger and your good as new. Ohh, I hear you now- it cost alot. Welcome to mountain biking.

  • Am I missing something? the frame looks ok. and for the record sram sucks. let me guess that was a titanium bolt they used on the derailuer that snapped.

  • You should change the title into; "GINGER KID DOESN'T KNOW WHAT CROSS COUNTRY MEANS"

  • This is the stupidest complaint I've heard so far. Bashing the Sram RD off your XC bike and blaming Cannondale! Pffft! No responsibiliy taken for your own actions. Just poor.

  • xc bikes aren´t for street dude... first buy the right bike for you... and then you can cry.

  • hes a ginger

  • The derailleur arms are designed to snap a specific breaking point. same thing happened to me when I hit a bump just a little too hard. New cables, derailleur, wheel, chain etc. fun stuff

  • Or jump from a plane !!!!

  • Don't jump !!!!

  • normally you don't jump with a lefty

  • that happened to me on one of my road bikes last week, i was 82 miles away from home and a tree branch got wedged broke my deraileur -_-

  • lol

  • Idiot!

  • user error, wrong gear

  • Its your fault...learn how to land

  • Ill buy it for 300

  • you're a stupid wanker

  • Wrong tool for the jump, not Cannondale's fault you don't know when/ where to ride a XC bike.

  • Dude... what are you whining about? The bike isn't broken: new hanger (and maybe X-9) with new pin in that chain and you're riding again. You're the one took an XC mountain bike and tried doing street tricks with it. Stuff is gonna break. The bike (everything Cannondale made) still looks in fine shape!

  • And this is why BMX stunt riders NEVER use geared bicycles. If you have to do stunts like this get a single speed.

  • Although now relegated to serving as my rain bike, my 1996 Cannondale road frame is still going strong with 1-2K miles per year. I'll probably fail before it does.

  • just need a new hanger and chain link

  • not the bike! is the rider...

  • lol CannonFAIL and SCAM amirite guyz?! In all seriousness though you're a douchebag who doesn't know squat about bikes or riding and don't deserve a $100 walmart special let alone that bike.

  • This is why I like single speeds. No derailleur worries!

  • enjoy walking home

  • There is nothing wrong with the actual bike company ( cannondale ). Front my experience working as a bicycle mechanic in a shop is that the chain jumped inbetween the cassette and the spoke and just ripped the changer from the hander pulling the whole lot into the spokes

  • The frame is okay.

  • Cannondale не виноват))))

  • Don't birth a redhead.

  • SHOULDNT HAVE PAID 4 GRAND FOR A BIKE...FUCK THAT!!!

  • Bet you wish you had said that you were riding cross-country and not shown the video now...

  • AND IT WASNT THE BIKE THAT FAILED

  • seat-up dork. stick to the uphill

  • And that is why you don't jump an xc bike with xc parts!

Dont blame sram. I've had sram components on my dh bike for 3 years now, and they work great.

Moral of the story, ride you bike for its intended purpose, and don't blame the bike if it breaks while your riding something outside the ability of the bike

  • @helvetiadhfr09 I don't think it had anything to do with the type of bike, I think it had more to do with the flat landing on concrete. I jump my XC bike regularly no failures.

  • @MrElDiablo409 yeah guess thats true. it just seems sketchy jumping an xc bike to me haha

  • "This is an obvious component failure in my opinion."

I agree. Cannondale doesn't make components though. Don't blame them. A sucked-up derailleur is not an uncommon thing when riding hard.

  • @bogdog999 P.S...And they were correct. The Scalpel is a lightweight cross-country racing bike. If you want to jump like that, buy a freeride bike with at least 6" of travel..

  • god awful landing thats what happened

  • The mountain bikes as Cannondale don't built for use street or other use that don't mtb!!! Is natural that break...

  • FUCK- the hanger is intact and so's the deraileur- I'm sure that bike would have coped if you weren't such an idiot, if anyone's ever seen Cedric Gracia on one of these then you'll know what I mean. YOU JUST DIDN'T TIGHTEN THE DERAILEUR!!!.

  • What are you doing for Act 2? Slopestyle on a carbon road bike?

  • So you crank down while your cross geared and you blamed the bike?!?

  • Sweet spandex brah!

  • take this video off, dont be a fool

  • anyone that trys any sort of drop with a lefty fork and basket-pedals should expect catastrophe

  • Since when are XC mtb's build to take a beating? Buy a street/dirt bike with DH components if you wanna do drops on pavement.

  • the derailer broke, not the bike.. you idiot, stick to watching porn!

  • buy a d/h bike if your gonna do that shit bro! i wouldnt even call that an all mountain!

  • KILL HIM KILL HIM KILL THE EVIL GINGER

  • You got like 5 ft of air that time!

  • I had a Cannondale with a loose valve cap once.

  • STUPID AMERICANS :D

  • the camera guy is santa claus because hes laughts like this, ho ho ho ho, and the retard who broke his bike is napolian dynamite because when he said fuckn a he sounded like him

  • come on man it just was the chain

  • its cause you're a ginger.

  • No shit it's going to break you landed wrong and if you do a hard landing you will damage the shock, etc.. but yeah bikes are just for cruising and off roading not to fuck it up like this.

  • Owned 'dales for 21 years. Never had a problem.

  • fuck sram...im having problems with my elixir r brakes...never had problem with shimano

  • Man i have a 2004 Specialized Hardrock that costed me 400$. I do jumps like those quite often and never had a single problem I never broke a bike component.

  • where is your chain position..? if the chain position is close with the Freehub and you jump your bike, the RD will shake and the chain could hit the spokes. in the other hand the spokes could pull the chain and so the chain would pull the RD as well, that's why the RD damaged

  • what a dick.

  • retard, this is a cross country race bike, optimized for minimum weight and pedalling performance, you cant expect it to hold up for shit like this..

  • SRAM for the fail

  • Yesterday i crashed into a wall with my car...DONT buy a MERCEDES!!!!

  • @bon3zable Don't buy a Merc' anyway. But if your a wank driver do buy a Merc' :-)

  • oops

  • I think you'd be better of with a $300 rigid single speed.

  • thanks for the advise.

  • WHY THE FUCK DID YOU SEND THIS VIDEO TO THEM!!!! are you a retard, of course they are going to say get stuffed!!!! I am suprised the bike took that jump so well, and i might just go and buy a cannondale today!,

  • Shure that this is a cannondale part that broke ? I don´t think so.

  • derailleur obviously not set up right to start with and the sideways momentum from the bad landing made it swing into the spokes, it can happen to any bike not just cannondale's, a good investment would be a chain guide to stop it happening again.

  • Who rides a 4k bike with toe clips? You just made my day!

  • Well, we're quite happy with our Cannondale tandem :)

If you're going to treat your equipment like that then you need to set it up properly and accept that there are going to be failures

  • If you got four grand for a bike, then pony up and buy a new derailleur they are only 200 bucks. I broke one on the trek, and the trek.

  • Lol i had the same problem !

  • What the hell has Cannondale got to do with a broken Deraileur?

  • Sorry, bdcrispell but you're an idiot. Just so you know all the guys at C'dale are still laughing their asses off at you; the fact that you thought this should be covered by a warranty and sent them the video is just priceless. Well, at least it you brought some joy to others.

"Make your own assumptions, but I never intend on using Cannondale or SRAM products ever again."

I think you're the one making assumptions...

  • As a bicycle mechanic with certifications and year of experience I can say that it's not the bike's fault. Look man, you derailleur wasn't adjusted properly, looks like your low limit screw was too far out because your chain was wrapped up between the spokes and the cassette. While it may be the shop's fault for not having the gears adjusted properly, it's definately not Cannondale's fault. It's also possible it's your fault if you bent the derailleur hanger prior to this incident.

  • umm horrible landing, your fault not the bike.

  • fuck well funny hope u get u bike fixed

  • nice fork man 0:15

  • well, i definitely goin to buy a cannondale. That Scalpel frame passed the ultimate test!!!!

  • for all i know, cannondale saved your balls.

  • at least u didnt get wrecked up like that.

  • U still filming this?

    yea good stuff

    art of trolling

  • lol it has nothing to do with cannondale, you need to talk to your tech who adjusted that and also thats not a bike to really jump

  • So youre riding a XC bike like its an urban jump rig.........

  • @LUK0BA Yes, maybe he should got to the seller of his brain and get a refund for that ;-)

Because of guys like him you get warnings everywhere.

  • Dont buy a Cannondale? Are you serious? I think this Jackass should stick to fruit booting. If you ride you know that parts can break. If you ride hard then you know parts will break. Terrible landing by the way. I really wish you had walked into my shop with this video so that I could tell you how much of an idiot you are.

  • @hater4130 Lightweight components always flex which is bad if you do things like this.

Noting wrong with the landing just the wrong bike to do it with.

  • looks like the chain got where the protector should be... did you removed the protector intentionally???... it already saved me a couple bucks a few times....

  • wow just wow

  • 1. You're going to take a high speed jump onto a hard surface with a bike intended for XC trail riding and racing?

    2. Did you forget that your chain-stays do not even have a pivot point? They just flex to accommodate 80-100mm of travel!

    3. (@ssc280) Agree-Toe clips really?

    4. SRAM and Cannondale have impeccable customer service - No one would warrenty missused products.

    5. You're a Dumb-A** - Might have gotten away with it if you had not filmed it and just lied and blamed the shop's adjustment.

  • sram suck.cannondale are good just that sram rear deraliur moves too much that it hit the spoke

  • sram suck

  • the bike is not a bad bike dude, check you components and for that matter, your riding.

  • I'm sorry but as a bike tech i can tell you this has nothing to do with Cannondale. What broke was your derraileur. Cannondale makes frames and specialty components (headsets, lefty forks and cranks.) if anything the only fault Cannondale has, is choosing the wrong company for their build kit.

It seems like the chain jumped too much and went off the cassette, which you can blame your mechanic for not setting the limit screws right.

  • @duder215

I had to change 2 sram derraileurs on my friends bike already, they both ended the same way as one in the video

  • @goter666 thats cuz your derailer hanger is bent of your not adjusting the limit screw isn't adjusted right it has nothing to do with SRAM

  • @duder215 You should know how to set your own limit screws anyway. Especially if you start putting the bike into situations like the one in the video. Blame the store clerk, he sold you an XC rig instead of a DJ. I laughed. Thanks.

  • SRAM stuff isn't all that great and that bike wasn't really intended for that. I blame you.

  • i have bein this situation

  • Next time, use a carbon fiber road bike -.-

  • @moicced lmao!!! don't say that he will

  • You can tell from this idiot's language that he did not have the emotional maturity to ride around the block, much less do stunts!

  • I must say I agree that this is your fault. Jumping a 100(and I believe 80 in the back)mm bike 3'ish to flat is both completely idiotic, and well, dangerous (clearly). I could hit that jump all day on my bike and if it broke, which it wouldn't, it would be warranted. You know why? Cause I ride a bike with 160mm front and 180 rear travel. Don't blame Cannondale, they make great bikes. Blame yourself for using the wrong product for the task.

  • Bicycles are made for riding not for flying you imbeciele, what else do you expect.

I would say U-N-D-E-R-S-T-A-N-D your mental limitations first before you enter a bicycle (that is, if i was your shrink).

  • why do you think people call them crack and fails

  • why are you blaming cannondale? if it was the frame that broke, I wouldve agreed with you but clearly its the derailleur that went out, and the chain, thats just stupid. Why would you buy a $4000 bike for these kind of stunts anyway?

  • cannons are not made in america anymore
