hey can u help me im a bit confused i had gone to a shop and seen different laptops and i saw dat an intel i5 chip is 2.53 ghz nad an intel i7 chip was 1.6 ghz i dont get it iznt i7 supposed to be faster ?
@kapz987...between i7-860's & i7 920, you get betwee 2.8 & 3.2 ghz's. It all depends what processor number and specs you need, want, or have pre-installed inside your laptop.
@RDSDOTORG It seems to me the Beats audio software is just a re-branded IDT Audio Control Panel which is available on all laptops with an IDT Audio chip.
@DickKnowsBest Is that not thin and light enough for your? You must have some absurdly high standards. And how does it look cheap? The island keyboard and metal etching makes it look very sophisticated.
@TheAwesomeSauceShow...you're absolutely right. I was wrong in saying "Micro SD"...after it was posted, I thought I could clarify those mistakes in the reponses instead of having to do the entire video or editing it out. This notebook has been almost nothing short of perfection except for the battery life, and boot-up time. And, it tends to get quite hot when formating videos. Overall this notebook is awesome! In my next video I will build a server from selected hardware...look out for it.
@DickKnowsBest...you would be surprised how well hp built this note. It feels incredibly solid when you hold and carry it around. The laser etching also gives it sleek design. Furthermore, the reason I chose the hp envy was cost and the windows os 7 professional platform that I use at school for business networking and communications management purposes. The 1080p aspect is great also when I connect it to my hd tv via hdmi. When apple lowers the price of the mbp I'll buy one without hesitation.
@cantbebetter...I experienced a blank screen recently that would happen spontaneuously. After re-installing my graphics driver and updates, everything was all well.
@olifen86...Brightview? I know that it can reach 300 nits of brightness. It can get quite bright and I don't believe I'll have trouble viewing the screen outdoors in sunlight. The extra 9 cell battery slice did not come with it, I bought it seperately for about $135 with a student discount. Retail price for the battery can run you for about $149.99 plus tax from hp.
@RDSDOTORG Ok, I have the dv7-1095eo, that I got almost 2 years ago, and it has the Brightview screen but it really sucks outside on a sunny day. I wonder if HP has made it better since then? Did your Envy come with the external reader?
@sas123478...no I didn't! I should have! The reason I didn't was because, I felt as If I were going to be missing out on something. I've heard that all the bloatware could cause a propensity for heat issues. Great question, and recommendation for everyone.
@The64BitGeek...it would be nice but, SSD's are smaller in size and cost more. Although, it makes it up with the speed. But, I don't think I'll put in some SSD's anytime soon unless the size increase and the prices go down.
@ejthedj12...i'll make a video this weekend showing everyone how much noise the fans make when it's cooling the notebook down. Honestly, the fans run briefly and not for a long time. I'd say between 3 to 6 minutes when i'm converting a movie to dvd (disk). Annoying? That depends if the fans are constantly on full blast and you happen to be gaming.
I'm guessing that if you have it on your lap, you're probably running on your battery. If that's the case, it doesn't heat up as much when i run on my battery, compared to when i'm connected hardwired through my power source. I say that because of the optical drive. If you're gaming, burning iso's, or converting something to dvd,,,it can get quite hot! But, the internal fans won't let the notebook stay hot for a long period. In my next vid i'll record the temps with speed fan to give u an idea.
Yes...it get's hot when i'm editing my videos and when i burn and convert a movie over to dvd. I can only assume that it does the same when you're gaming also. But, keep in mind that this notebook is very thin and the power ot the ATI 5830 graphics card will generate a substantial amount of heat when you're gaming, video, and movie editing. Also, i would recommend investing in a notebook cooler. Note: this is considered the 2nd generation hp envy 15, because the graphics card was upgraded.
is this the lastest model cos i was going to get this after they start shipping hp envy to the uk with full hd screen and fixed the heat problem i tried it in shops even there you can feel how hot it gets compared with 13 envy.
ps when you making part 2 your videos are good so far
Yes it is...this is the 2nd generation that was released in mid February and it is a full hd screen. The hp envy 13 has a lower end graphics card amongst other hardware components that don't generate so much heat and power comsumption. When it reaches a certain temperature the notebooks heat sensors activate the internal cooling fans automatically. I've tried to adjust the fans manually through the BIOS but, couldn't because you only have 2 options and that is disable or enable.
@RDSDOTORG thanks for information im still holding back on buying one only cos of the heat i have had hot laptop before and when playing games it get far to hot :(
If ur a gamer done expect a cool running laptop. I know what u mean by hot laptops cuz i had 1 for a long time b4 i built my own computer. It will be hot since ur using ur graphic card and ur processor to its max, so dont expect a laptop running cool when ur gaming. Even for a MBP it runs hot. Ur best bet is to buy or build a desktop if ur a gamer. If u dont wanna sacrifice portability this Envy 15 is perfect.
