I played EQ,EQOA,and now EQ2 ive played TONS of free to play games, and at least a dozen sub based games, EQ2 is the best out even today! It still captures the sense of adventure,danger,and reward it always has!

With that said all the community features that makes you so attached to community, are just great. The game feels much more like a living world then most mmo's imo.
@huldu QQ more seriously... The tutorial island, really? My guess is that you never made it much farther after. In any MMO it's always the end game where its the most fun. Sure the game is by far not perfect, but it is definitely better than any other MMO out right now. It went F2P to get more players. The biggest thing that is hurting the game right now is it's lack of advertising and publishing. It never ran commercial ads the way WoW does and will probably never have the player base it has.
@JpRules123 That is the great thing about EQ2, you buy the newest expansion and it comes with every previous expansion that came before it. The newest expansion out right now is Destiny of Velious and I just picked it up for 15 dollars myself. Amazing deal.
For crying out loud that looked so dated. EQ2 went "f2p" for a reason. WoW has not because it has no need to with 12 million subscribers. EQ2 has always been a very boring game, mostly due to the immense amount of zoning which destroys the mmo immersion. The only part that was ever any good in EQ2 was the tutorial island a few years back. That was EQ2 *best* piece of work ever, it was flawless. It's a shame the rest of the game couldn't keep up however.
@oneton45a it sounds like something from immediate music, but that's probably not it - you'd probably like immediate music if you like this soundtrack bit though
I just might go back to EQ2 it is the best pay2play MMO out as of to date... Wow's got the most players & it's a good game too but their last update made it almost identical to EverQuest & anyone that's played both know only question is when will wow get true Guild halls? We've had em 4+yrs now lol
@Welbeloved Pretty sure there is nothing that WoW can do to omake it even close to EQ, let alone identical. It may have some of the same features, but that is what happens when a game copies another.
There is a Free to Play version of EQ2 available as well. it runs on its own server and has limitations on what you can do, but it is pretty heavily populated and by far the best free to play experience there is. As for the normal pay to play servers, nothing even comes close.
@Trueflights I don't want to play EQ because I don't understand wich one I have to buy, there's like 22 expentions and I hate to buy a game that I have to buy additional content to play.

@Xentric55 stop at the official EQ2 website and look at EQ2 Extended (EQ2X for short). you can download the client right from there, make a new account and play. If you have an existing account, there is a way to copy your old characters over to the free server (not sure if there is a fee for that though). There is no monthly fee to play on the EQ2x server (Freeport is the name of the actual server).
