  • bad ass blazer! is this the same blazer that says rice killer on the intercooler?

  • @Marachuan thats 190HP at the crank without pullies fans and drivetrain.

  • @bonegoodson that 190HP straight up when it is new. Blazer, Jimmy, Bravada and old school Envoy all the same make body and engine type with all the vortec engine in them that are 4.3L. My truck put out 11.60PSI without a turbo super charger and all the bullshit people put on their car. All I have is a K&N Air Intake and it put out 11.60PSI seriously my OBDII reader can read vaccum and that what it said.

  • @MileyCyrus192 yeah 11.6 psi of vacuum which is the opposite of boost. This truck is running 8 psi BOOST from the turbo forcing air into the engine. So if you want to make power you need to put that bullshit on your car.

  • how did your trans hold up to this mod? just wondering, i have a 2000 jimmy slt with very low miles, the trans is very solid im sure it would do fine with this setup as long as i don't go too crazy with it

  • myu dads blazer sounds like that only its 4x4

  • still slow

  • definetly wana change the pistons and rings....turbo adds extra heat and pressure. remember, the lowside of the turbo comes off the exhaust manifold. well, most do.....

  • whats with the huge dip in the dyno graph? is that where it transitions into boost, like its flooding out? good torque numbers though.

  • Stock hp is more then 138hp. Its 155-150hp at the wheels. You figure a 20% loss on the drivetrain of an engine rated at 190hp puts it at 152hp. 138 is low. 155 is more correct for stock. Without a tune, those rearmount turbo setups (Like STS) put 100hp more at the wheels. Would make sense that the car stock is 150ish, and you end up with 250ish rwhp.

  • is this truck a rear mount turbo?

I always though of doing one on my blazer or s10, they got a great spot were the cat is, The flange for the cat. would be perfect to bolt a turbo to, then just run some flex pipe up to the engine. and a turndown off the turbo, and of course the oil scavenge pump to bring the oil back to the valve cover. It looks like its what he did, i see a blue line looks like a oil line.

  • you say no tune? what you just bolt the turbo and pipe'n on and go?

DID you have to mess with MAF? anything?

  • just tear that shit out its always no good ;)

  • lmao, i love that sayin NO GOOD, OR JUNK, LOL, so your not running any of that stuff>? how the hell does it run?

  • magic of course! just kidding. mines note even turbo lol or really anything except exhaust and short ram. but yeea possibly buy a high flow MAF?

  • just take the honeycomb out the maf

  • how did you do the turbo, intercooled?

  • alright well so its adding 60 hp to the truck?

cause if been looking around and wanting to add more hp to my blazer.

  • guess i should turbo mine too =DDDDD

  • did you make the kit yourself? I've been looking everywhere for one, and can't find shit....

  • check out lmc truck parts.

  • i have an 99 blazer bone stock and when i got the paper work back form Pep boys it said 300hp on it is that right?? its a 4.3 vortec and on the bummber it said its rated to tow 3500 no joke so idk??

  • 4.3 Vortec stock is rated at 190hp

  • but its got 250 ft.lbs

  • Comment removed

  • 190hp at the crank, not at the wheels. And they under-rated it, its more like 195-205hp anyways.

  • in 2005 ish they raised it to 195 hp and 260 ft.lbs

  • what kind of wheels are those they look good and i want to get some new wheels on my blazer

  • hey i want to turbo my ranger with a 3.0....wat did u have to do to prepare for the turbo????did u have to do anything???

  • replace connecting rods, piston heads, pushrods, camshaft, and crankshaft... maybe new block

  • BTW the 4.3l engine in your blazer makes 190hp and 230ft-lb torque stock not 138hp. that is with out factoring out drive train loss. but still not a 50+ hp loss. 255 seems reasonable seeing how 8psi really isn't all that much for such a big engine.

  • lol. i dyno'd the truck before. With my heavy 17's with 265-70-17 tires, and 3.23 gears the truck was weak as hell on motor.

errr... i wouldnt know that it would make 190 flywheel hp.... you kidding me.

  • Ya Your right Bdog2be you might loose 15-20 hp in an automatic to the wheels but not 50. the 4.3L is a strong lil motor. If you said it was week as hell 02vortec something is wrong with that engine and i would have over hauled it before turbocharging it.

  • its 190hp at the crank. not at the wheels!

  • yep.

  • @bdog2be usually a 20% loss through drivetrain

  • Random question: where did you find / who makes the clear parking lights? I have an '05 BlaZeR2 and can't find them anywhere.

  • apc i think is where i got mine they look very nice

  • wrong APC made them with orange sides but clear fronts. Ebay special is were you can get the full clears, that's were I got mine as well.

I need a new set though. I also need some new headlights, mine are starting to yellow out.

  • yea mine are starting to get that foggy look to we have had them for 5 or 6 years now

this is how it is now

    h t t p : //farm4. static. flickr (d.o.t) com/3274/2613795397_216823b1a8_b (d.o.t) jpg

saidly the dexcool bug bite it and the motor blew this weekend :(

  • That's not too bad at all. Mine are far worse than that. Plus I have love bug stains on mine. I severely hate those friken bugs with a passion, if you don't wash them off every day the acids from them eat your paint like it's cool! I already have to repaint my front end becuase of 5 years in South Florida and having to drive my truck daily through that crap.

  • what did you have to do to the fuel system

i have an 02 s 10 pu 4wd and want to turbo or supercharge it

  • A guy from my town has a 00 blazer with a 6.0 swap with a 73mm single. Makes about 550 whp and ran 10.82@122 Its a stock motor too. And he drives it every day.

  • I'm not buying that 13sec 1/4mi $hit either. 300hp (12psi) aint moving a 3500+lb truck down a 1/4mi in 13. Maybe you mean 1/8mi?

  • went 7.7 @ 84mph in the 1/8th. 1.7 60ft on a pegleg. torque my friend torque and average horsepower. dont ask me how. the truck ran like a bat outta hell. I sold the turbo kit now, i burnt up some exhaust valves on 13psi but truck still runs and is daily driven.

  • @02vortec LOL at lazzer, 3500 lbs isn't a lot. My Olds 88 weighed more. A Trailblazer SS weighs 5300 and does 0-60 in 5.5 and get a BorgWarner 88mm turbo and it'll do the 1/4 in 9.56 watch?v=KeXatsRABIA

  • um wait... it's a 4.3L and 12psi only makes 300hp? wtf...? 12psi on my 1.8L makes 250hp. Something wrong here. Oh yeh... It's AMERICAN that's right. "my bad"

  • ya its only makin 300hp but it makes that at 4500 rpm so thats like 500lb-ft of torque whats your jap crap 1.8l make maybe 180lb-ft if your lucky.

    horsepower= lb-ft x rpm/5252

so either the more toque you have or the higher the rpm you go the more power you make. your 1.8l makes hp becasue it can rev to 7500rpm

  • Did you forget that vehicles have transmissions? It doesn't really matter what your crank torque is at any given rpm. That's why the term horsepower was developed. Example: -All things equal- If I put a cummins diesel in my car it'll be slower even though it's 1200lbs torque. Gears my friend, gears. (rolls eyes) Less work faster, more work slower. It's all the same thing. "horsepower" fukin noob.

  • To go on... If I did 180lb-ft that means my rpm would have to be 7294rpm to make 250hp. I peak torque at 5200rpm. You do the math. (252.5). "its only makin 300hp but it makes that at 4500 rpm so thats like 500lb-ft of torque" Crunch those numbers again there boss. See what you come up with. (350). So your engine is 2.6x bigger but only makes 1.4x the power as a 1.8? Sounds like junk to me. Respond please so I can pwn u some more.

  • if you werent such a noob you would know that the peak torque of a vehicle occurs much lower than the peak power. so the torque will be much greater at a lower rpm, it's probaly like 475 at 2400rpm.

  • um...whut? lol I'm the noob? Go learn a bit about engine dynamics before you go making statements.

  • coming from you, who thought that the peak power and torque are both at the same rpm

  • When did I say this?

  • in your 2nd reply to my first comment about ya it's only makin 300 hp at 4500 rpm and 500 lb-ft. you said that the torque would be more like 350. yes the torque is 350lb-ft at 4500rpm, that is the horsepower peak.

  • "its only makin 300hp but it makes that at 4500 rpm so thats like 500lb-ft of torque" That is your quote. I said to make your claimed 300hp at 4200 would be 350 torque not the 500 you stated. Anyways...........................................................MOVING ON!

  • That wasn't what I meant. I meant there's no way it's 500. Go do some math.

  • @ the wheel man..... 200hp is what you think. you might make max 160 @ the wheels. mine dynod really weak stock. but i dont even care about dyno's any more @ 10psi where i should only be making 280whp i ran 7.7 second in the 1/8th @ 83mph...

  • 1/8th? tee hee hee how cute.

  • i was think of Doing this to my 99 Astro with the same engine...what parts do you have in yours and how much was it..how is your 4.3 making 138HP stock? Mines making 200

  • do a search rearmounts are pretty common these days. Its mounted basically under the passenger seat @ the moment, in between the transmission mount and frame cross member.

  • nope its a bone stock long block..... all i did was make a turbo kit, the motor is completely stock, they are making over 1200horse power with a fully built engine i have since up'd the boost on the truck, im up around 12psi now making over 300whp and over 400ft.lbs

  • how did you set the turbo in the rear how is in monted

  • go to

    ststurbo dot com

i didnt use there kit but it will explain how mine is mounted

  • its under the passenger seat. intake runs under driveshaft under driver seat. Down pipe dumps right @ turbo. Boost pips runs back up under suspension. never hit it on anythign even with 3" drop. cant even tell its there. up to the intercooler and the the TB. its much more complicated then that but you get the idea.

  • nice how much money did you put in to th e turbo an d did you do forged pistons and did you do cam and head work

  • comepletely stock motor. stock pistons, rods, rings, crank, block, cam, heads, valvetrain, etc.

about $2700 in the turbo kit

  • NICE!!!! would you b interested in doin a similar setup for a 2.2L??? or at least giving detailed instructions on the best way to do this.. thanks!!!

  • check out s10forumdotcom, you can do it like i did mine but i beleive you can use a DSM turbo manifold, i think it might bolt to the head, but definatly ask over on s10forum, you can just do a rearmount like i did which is cut off the exhaust right after the trasmission crossmember, weld a turbo flange on mount turbo run dump, guy cat, run boost tubing, still need fuel managment, now thats a very simple run down you need alot more info then that. that doesnt include 99% of the stuff left to do.

  • lol i built everything my self...... DIY is the only way to go. and 13.1 is way to lean for a FI vehicle.... leanest i will go is 12.0.... im running 12psi now. truck runs 13.0 in the 1/4 mile still needs alot of tuning, running really rich still

  • where did you find that turbo and what year of blazer is that?

  • yeah, you can tell it seems lazy (fat) once it's up to 13:1 or close and final tuned post up another

  • is this your blazer? I got a 98 blazer ls 5speed with the 4.3 vortec looking at putting a turbo on it.

  • interesting.

  • - THE HUGE DIP is where he let off of the dyno brake- most of the time he was trying to find a spot where it wouldnt down shift so it looks a little rough

  • How about a 3rd gear pull without changing gears.

  • once again i didnt dyno it...... jesus.... dynos suck anyways. truck ran 12.7 @ 102mph. on 13psi now..... i guess its making a little more then 255whp.
