  • my uncles sheltie herds his motorcycle and truck

  • sheds a lot but i know three shelties and non are yappers not even mine. one doesnt bark at all.

  • My sheltie died in 05' after breaking his hip after slipping on ice, RIP Toby!

  • this dog came from the land of shet! >:)

  • I HAVE NINTENDOGS!!!!!!! : O

  • bloody ads!!!!!!

  • My sheltie will only bark if he has something to bark about, and even then he only barks one or twice. A well bred working-type sheltie will not be a yapper.

  • @TheOrangeStopSign Yeah, my old Sheltie almost never barked. He was also lazier than heck. after he got to be about 3 years old.

  • @TheOrangeStopSign That is good news. I do believe that any dog can be trained to behave/ not bark too much.

May I ask if you´d say shelties are very affectionate/cuddly dogs?

  • Like, If your watching Dogs 101 because your thinking about buying a dog! I am!!

  • @LOPEYBOI why buy when you can adopt and save a dogs life? also save you money! north shore animal shelter...no kill shelter, great dogs and staff!

  • my first dog was a sheltie and half lops a lotzo he was awesome now i have a australlian shepard blue merail who is 4 years old

  • i use to have a sheltie..... on nintendogs...

  • Jestem polakiem

  • I have a sheltie, She just sleeps and sings but then again she's 8 years old.

  • my deaf sheltie weighs 31 pounds o.o he's not fat though D:

  • I've got a sheltie that could bark for Scotland. Smart little thing though. It acts all big and tough but as soon as a stranger or anything gets near it, it tries to hide behind me. lol

  • My family adopted a sheltie when I was 6. Her name was Favorite. She was absolutely the greatest dog you could possibly ask for. She was not particularly yappy but had her moments. Sometimes our family would watch our friends 2 sheltie's when they were away. All three of them I noticed were rather stand-offish. I have no idea if this is a trait of the breed or not.But they were absolutely wonderful! At one time or another all three were show dogs as well. Never doubt adopting a sheltie!

  • I have a 9 month old sheltie named tanner. he's literally the stupidest dog in the world. he unlearns tricks and when you look at him, it's like, the lights are on, but nobody's home...

  • @Peeps2013 hahaha thats funny but I think you just need to be a bit patient hahah thats reall funny.

  • My sheltie doesn't bark at all so not all of them are yappers. They need lots of socialization at an early age as well.

  • My tri colour sheltie named Kylie, had me for 16 1/2 years. The smartest, most gentle, sweet "shadow" of a dog. She herded the chooks back to their house when there was danger, she self trained from the tone of my voice....went to the top group in obendience the first week, and was used to train other dogs, could jump over 5 feet, played "goalie" when we played soccer, had two beautiful litters of pups, survived cancer, and completely spoilt me for owning another dog...RIP, Kylie.

  • My little dog was a beautiful pedigree from Scotland. She was the best little dog you could possibly want. Sensitive, intelligent, loyal. She had it all. She left me when 16 years old and that was 20 years ago and I still miss her like the dickens. Go get an Sheltie. They are magic.

  • Did I heard right ? ... their gonna HURT you ? Or what word was it ?

  • @missally369 They will "HEARD." They mainly heard sheep...and owners. lol.

  • My sheltie doesn't shed as bad as they claim and it's easy to get up because it's relatively long. He is a yappy little sucker though, but diet n exersize can keep it to a minimum and good early training. The are quite sturdy dogs if well breed and NOT prone to health problems unless you get a puppy mill sheltie.

  • @1:11 bi coloured sheltie: you get over there! sable coloured sheltie:-gets there-

  • Hiccup at 2:31 ?? :-P cuteeeeee

  • I want one!!!!!!!!!

  • While I don't have one myself nor do I plan to get one, I've grown up with shelties so I have a special relationship with them.

  • Mine is not energetic at all! Its so lazy.... Its also a role model for my super-ultra hyper Daschund!! xD

  • I really like this lillte dog :D

I know it's a herding dog but I will train agility withs this cute dog :D

  • mine doesnt bark either. since ive owned her, (6 months) ive heard her bark 5 times.

  • my sheltie doesn't bark. since they're so smart you can just teach them not to

  • 1:42 whats up with that dog

  • This is so sick, in every video they make it sound as though all those health problems are normal and were always there. Animal Planet should be ashamed of that.

Being prone to epilepsy is neither normal nor good, it is a defect, plain and simple.

  • I grew up with a sheltie ^,^

  • i zoned out for the ad...

  • I loooove my little sheltie. When she was a puppy, she belonged to my grandma, but I got her after she died, so she's my little baby. But I still wish I knew where she got that habit of running around in circles when she wants to go outside.... XD

They do shed and bark alot (personal experience on both fronts. We're no the only people in our family to have shelties =)), but because of how fluffy and cute they are you can't help but love them. :)

  • @tehepicinsanity omg my sheltie runs around in circles too!!!

  • oh i love bi blue *-*

  • @Ailovresh The bi blue Shelties tend to be more prone to sickness because they got a defective gene or something in them. They also seem to go blind much easier than let's say a brown or black sheltie.Just telling you in case you DO get a Sheltie:) you don't want the sheltie to get sick,so just a warning.

  • @isolde749 no of course not :D but they're looking very cute, don't they? haha, anyway, if i get a sheltie, I just take the one who likes me most, don't care about the colour ^^ my labrador is also black although i think chocolate is better but i love her anyway of course :D

  • @Ailovresh okay, that's wonderful! just was warning you in case:) (I love labs too, their beaautiful dogs, take good care of yours)

  • @isolde749 Haha yeah i do but she's really fat & lazy, that's our whoopie <3 and she's 12 now :( in case she will die someday we have Sammy... but we will be sad anyway!

  • so cute!

  • SO FLUFFY!

  • Love shelties! Mine is now 5 months old and soo smart! Love him!

  • i miss winston my shetland sheepdog died 3 years ago. He herded us all the time and loved to run the windows and bark.

  • My family used to breed shelties when I was a kid. How i miss them...

  • D: I MISS MY SHELTIE!!! =C

  • Omg sneakers! I miss u! :)

  • my sheltie sat with me while I watched this

  • @rocker761001 Mine did too.

  • I loved my sheltie...but we had to put her down today. she was 15 and she is older then me. she was the best dog i could have asked for and i will never forget her </3

  • Shelties are the best dogs I have ever had. Sadly, my favorite dog ever and my best friend was hit by my neighbors car yesterday. It is such a tragic experience for me. We did everything together and he was so obedient even without any training. Nothing will be the same but time to move on.

  • This video warns us about shedding too.

If you are wearing a black dress and a Labrador rubs on you. You're gonna need a sticky tape to remove all those fur. Their short hair flies off too easy and sticks to everywhere.

You wear that black dress and a Sheltie rubs on you. You'll just have to pick up few strands of long hair. Their hair is longer but they sort of bundle up as a ball of dust, which is easier to clean up w/ vac cleaner.

The diet has a lot to do with the shedding as well.

  • My sheltie does not bark. Seriously, she is so quiet, I seriously thought she had a hearing problem. (No her hearing is fine). She wouldn't even bark at the doorbell or vac cleaner. I have to play pretty rough with her to get her excited enough to get a bark out of her, then again she just barks few short bursts and that's it.

Because of this video warning us about barking shelties, I almost didn't get this breed. I'm glad I did, because she is just so pleasing to have around. Beautiful dog.

  • Shetland sheepdog is a great family dog! And doesn't bark so much at all.

  • I will testify to the "herd ALL things". My rocky will herd us all aroud the house or direct us to what he wants. He also herded us back I to the house after we pet the neighbors dog through the fence. So freaking cute.

  • I miss my dog...

  • Sooo, where do i get a pond with ducks???

  • @missbs1 she said herd not hurt

  • Comment removed

  • @missbs1 Herd... not hurt.

  • Actually, I had my Sheltie Rozin since I was 6 months old. We had to put her down last week, but she didn't bark too much, especially as she got older. They will bark at anything strange or out of the ordinary. For example, Rozin had a love/hate relationship with the vacuum cleaner. She would try to herd the noisy machine, and barked ferociously at it when it didn't do as she was ordering it to do. They also have the cutest run, a sort of bound with a circular spinning of their tails. Best dog:)

  • They do bark and they are very smart dogs. I have one and he barks at everyone. Even if the person is down the street. He does herd everyone and is energetic.

  • LOL THEY DON'T FUCKIN BARK AT ALL.

  • i brought my dad's "proudness" of my rattie down a tiny notch when i looked up top 100 smartest dogs on google and found them next to 78 XD

  • they are beautiful and good dogs but there is a house close to mine with 5 sheltie's and a house about a block away with one and when the one starts barking the others hear it and they start barking so they can be VERY anoying

  • I adore Shetland Sheepdogs.

They are so smart, extremely loyal. If I were to own a small breed, the Sheltie would be my first choice.

  • i LOVE my sheltie is he is so sweet :) and what they said about shedding and barking is so ture, everything in my room is covered with his hair and his favorite activity is running in the backyard and barking :P

  • They don't mention how long they live on average do they?

  • @Simenbjo about 10-15 years

  • Comment removed

  • Shelties are also prone to kidney failure too.Which had led my own sheltie to be put down.........in early May of this year. --_--

  • @artgal80 feel sorry for you :(

  • aww, cutness overload! sheltie puppies!

  • When I first saw a sheltie, I was like "I WANNA HUG IT!!!"

  • @tslopez1 LMAO but.... that is true

  • Have had 5 shelties in my 30 years. Among all of the dogs I have owned or been around, they are loyal to a fault as well as insanely easy to train. Though the barking can get a bit much. Though I still long for a blue merl.

  • Awww I love my sheltie, hes so loyal to me. I love him so much" :D I'd recommend this breed to people with alot of space , and patence :D

  • hahahahaha energetic.... hahaha scottie is the laziest dog I have ever seen

  • awww cute

  • everybody around me thinks sheltie is a mini collie..

  • 1:11 black and white shelty!

  • One of my favorite breeds. I love these!

  • Gorgeous Dogs.

  • i have a friend with 1 shelty and another with 2. They rarely bark unless someone knocks on the door (just like any other dog) and all three are super nice don't snap growl they just lick you alot if you call them over. But hey i guess my friends just got lucky in some of these cases (such as the barking issue and health issues)

  • I just got this dog today (: hes my new puppy bestfriend(:

  • I have a 10 week old sheltie pup , he has learned to sit, lay down and give paw in less than 2 weeks . I'd say they're smart dogs :P

  • This is so true!

  • I used to have two collies, Heidi and Mikey. Mikey passed of old age and ran away to decease, and Heidi had fallen down the stairs in the middle of the daytime and broke her back, she couldn't move, so we had to put her down :'(

  • do they bark they much???? if they do, can they be easily trained not to???

  • They're so precious I live with two!

  • my aunt has one of these shes so cute but would climb on top of your head haha :P

  • lol i have a pond in my backyard hold on let me go and check... nope no pond so i dont have to worry!!!

  • @mastifflove710 High energy = play all day. They want to play untill the sun goes down.

  • I have a Sheltie.

    - He never barks

    - We almost never groom him, but his fur is wonderful

    - He got his first health issues when he was 11 yr old.

    - He is nice to everybody.

  • I love shetland sheepdogs. I have a sharpei but i love sheepdogs!

  • почему нет русского перевода?????

  • the Sheltie on the left was totally hideous..

  • I just adopted a 5 year old "sheltie" from the Humane Society named Mia (: and I love her. I was wondering why she was circling me....

  • @MeggyPrincess101

Yep.. circling is a herding behavior. When I'm out taking a walk and my sheltie gets excited and starts running, she'll circle me. She also loves chasing the local geese back into their pond. She seems to think that's where they belong, not out chilling on the grass. If, God forbid, she sees them hanging out on the grass, they quickly get chased back into the pond.

  • Sup guys? 0:30

  • I love my sheltie!

    Sheltie=best dog in the world!

  • nintendogs is for DS, NOT ATARI!!!

  • @Ookaminokemono Maybe they couldn't get a DS?

  • well last week my shetland sheepdog passed away

  • I have a shetland sheepdog. He's name is leo. he's so cute! :D

  • Brings back memories of our sheltie called Kyle. He loved to try and herd our cats, but never quite succeded, it was hilarious to watch!

  • my sheltie is only 12 weeks old and he can already sit, come, wait(put a treat on the ground and say wait) and lie down.

  • I HAVE ONE!!! HER NAME IS BELLA, SHE THE CUTEST DOG EVER!!!!!

  • poll: what's your favourite sheltie colour? mine has to be the blue merle and the sable :)

  • holy shet I want a shitland.

  • I HAVE ONE OF THESE DOGS!!!!

    THEY ROCK!!!

  • NINTENDOGS :D 0:34

  • I hope to get one of these! My Mom's cousin is trying to get rid of my great grandmas!!! 8D

  • I have a sheltie/golden retriever mix named sprite. He is one of the smartest dogs in town :D and he was a rescue!! -3

  • Pikpik is/was actually Shigeru Miyamoto's Sheltie. Pikpik was an inspiration for "Nintendogs", as well as "Pikmin".

  • I LOVE my little sheltie. She's the sweetest thing. Everyone loves her. She's smart and beautiful and has the best personality. I've never met a more "submissive" dog. She's pretty obedient, except when we're walking off-leash and she wants to go say hello to someone. She LOVES people.

They do herd. She herds my cats. There's a few ponds near where I live and she decided that the geese belong in the pond, and if they were out chilling on the grass, they were quickly herded back into the pond.

  • I got a sheltie named sonny from my grandparents, he acts like he's adhd and jumps everywhere and bites me. XDD

  • @ShawnStilesXx Haha I got my sheltie too from my grandparents! Sassy is the runt of the litter! She has an enfection in her teeth and gums and has blatter or kidney stones.... I am trying to get my parents to let me get a doberman for her as a friend! Check out some videos of Sassy at SassyTheSheltie her channel.

  • I've had two of them the one recently died the other is still alive they are so terrible with people the old fart actuly walked in front of me and bit me D:

  • Yes

  • The dog at 0:31 reminds me of my cousins former dog sulley

  • OMG ADORABLEEEEEEEE <33333333333

  • I thought the insperation for Nintendogs was Little kids, loving dogs, who want a dog but cant have one. ._.

  • did she said shit land islands

  • @vich1012 Me and my friend at school make jokes about that place.

  • How rich are you when you have a pond with ducks in your backyard?

  • @chriserony Well she be edu-macated n want u to know ya heard!

  • @chriserony That doesn't mean you're rich.

  • @Anonymous1226 How much do you make?

  • @chriserony I won't tell you how much I make because that's a personal matter. But i will tell you that I'm just a regular, hard-working, middle class American & there are a bunch of ponds in my neighborhood that have houses built around them.

  • @chriserony hahaha!

  • @chriserony Not really, if you live in the country.

I live on 75 acres, not a penny to my name!

  • @chriserony You are the 1%, then. I think.

  • They have a pointy fucksy face.

  • Thumbs up if you want Dogs 101 - Caucasian ovcharka.

  • I love shelties. My family has one now that's going to be 3 in June and before her we had another one that died in my first year of college but was around 13 years old.

  • Shelties are adorable. Love their soft ears, so sweet!! :D

  • Do they shed more than the average dog?

  • I loooooooooooooooooove shelties. :D

  • I have 2 Shelties and they only bark when someone is at the door, when you are playing with them and they get excited, and if you ask them if they would like to go outside. I would say that is pretty normal when it comes to dogs!

  • I have a shelty and I loooove him so much!!

I don't think he barks so much at all. It's a wonderful breed!

  • 10huskys gratz i wish i could get another dog mine died :(

  • i just got a shelty puppy 2 days ago!

  • @10huskys awww! how is it? how is training it and such??

  • @MsHMChai

Training Shelties is a breeze, because they are VERY intelligent, they learn tricks REALLY quickly. It's said that after saying the command 6 times they understand what you want. That pretty much agrees with my exerience with my sheltie. Also, combined with the intelligence is the desire to please you. Mine is the most submissive non-alpha dog I've seen.

  • @czarinaanya

And I haven't put that much time into training my sheltie, like I should have. I am NOT an experienced dog trainer, either. THis is the first dog I'v ehad that is "my" dog that I've worked with on obedience. BUt she learns so quickly that she's mastered many commands. Everyone is impressed with how obedient she is.

  • @10huskys What Is His/Her Name.?

  • @AmbehrAnqelx3 his name was flapjack...i have videos of him b4 he died v.v

  • @10huskys Why Did He Die.?

  • The funny thing is, the laziest and quietest dog we've ever owned is a Sheltie. Go figure. He's a darling though.

  • mine is quite barky and loves my family and I very much! <3

  • I love mine so much!

  • Although nowadays I'm more partial to cats, I still love dogs very much and the Sheltie is my absolute favorite breed! :) I grew up with one, and she was truly my best friend throughout my childhood.
