Im a very big fan of this car, the z06, and basically all corvettes. For this reason i am very angry after I watched another video of some european (french) magazine putting the zr1 against a ferrari 458 and a nissan gtr. The z06 did the 400m (1/4 mile) in 12.1 seconds??!!! WTF?!!! over here it does it in 10.85.

@arbigales That's because they think that the can purposely make the Corvette look slower over there so people will buy Ferraris and other euro cars instead of the corvette, even thought the corvette has better performance in every category and not to mention the ZR1 is cheaper than most of the euro cars.

Produced in 05 and 06 but still hold the same $ value to this day when re-sold, while on the other hand on autotrader I just saw a 10k mile ZR1 at a Honda dealership for $82995... 25k drop in a year..but you're right, the FGT is "crap"

talk about a nicely prepped track!. it makes me wonder how much faster it would be wihtout having to shift into 4th? I know that when I'm dead even with another car in my M6 LT1, if I powershift I gain about a foot and a half right then but if I let off the throttle and shift quickly I stay about even and then you see/hear these guys that take forever to shift and loose about half a car. anyway, that was a wicked fast run.... still trying to imagine how that felt.... watch it again ha

To anyone who doesn't believe that a stock ZR-1 can run this fast, the true measure of horsepower at the dragstrip is not e.t., but mph. Check the enthusiast magazines, and you'll see that a 129 mph trap speed is in line with a ZR-1 that is running in October at a low altitude track in Maryland. This run, with a very well-practiced driver, could well be legit.

No GTR has come near 10s bone stock so it is not even close. not to mention, the ZR1 gets to 300 km/h 20 seconds faster or about a train length in difference. Also like was mentioned, a 5 year/100K mile powertrain warranty speaks volumes about the confidence GM has in the drivetrain holding up with 600 lb-ft going through it.

Sorry, but it is 100% stock unless you count after maket floor mats and carbon fiber shift knob. Another stock on has run 10.73

Thanks. It was a good track so I don't think I chirpped any but I was not power shifting at all. I am not sure what my average time is but it has been to the track 3 times. The first time my best was and 11.05 (that vid is on ytube), then 2nd time I ran the 10.85 you see here , and 3rd time my best was only a 10.92.

In your opinion, is 1st gear too tall in the zr1? Watching some of these videos seem s like it.

Too bad GM didn't make 3rd a little taller for the 1/4 mile.

What does it top out in 3rd?

I would say that 1st gear is not optimum for drag racing but I think it has to be that way for it to be usable on the street with the amount of torque the car has. I think they also wanted to get to 60mph without a shift. 3rd tops out at 126mph from what I remember.

I always love commnents about how they'd thake vette and GTR because they are so much cheaper than supercars but can still run with them.

You guys will never be able to afford a $100,000 car and if you could you would probably be able to afford a $150k or $200k legitimate supercar that actually has some name and prestige to it.

The ZR-1 is a different clientele than the "supercar" driver. a see a "supercar" more as an accessory. like a Rolex or arm candy.
