1. First of all, Roland is supposed to be based off the classic American western caricature. As good of an actor as Bardem may be, his deeply Spanish/Mediterranean look will kill the verisimilitude of the film(s), at least for the readers.

A TV series, on the other hand, could have 3 SEASONS to get everything in; if each episode was 1 hour, with 15 - 20 episode seasons... *Drools*
