In a highschool setting, take maths for example, you are given a set of instructions on how to calculate a solution, if you can remember the solution, it doesn't take a genius to sub 4 into x and 5 into y. If a woman remembers the instructions easier, and can apply it, then she would be deemed smarter than a male taking the same test, who maybe couldn't recall the instructions.
