  • Mormons, is polygamy good or evil?

  • In the Old Testament GOD GAVE WIVES to David through prophet Nathan.

2 Sam 12:7 ¶ And Nathan said to David, ...Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul; 8 And I gave thee thy masters house, and thy masters wives into thy bosom,

There you go. THUS SAITH THE LORD.

    Next?

  • "In the Old Testament GOD GAVE WIVES to David through prophet Nathan."

If, as you have implied here, polygamy is good, then why don't the LDS practice polygamy now?

  • God doesn't command it now, but He DID.

We also don't practice the Law of Moses anymore either. Some things are not commanded or in force all the time. God works that way. It is the Biblical pattern. We are to be obedient to whatever God commands at the time.

Like the Children of Israel were commanded, SPECIFICALLY, to go and slay all the Amalekites, men, women, children, and animals. All of it.

Jibe that with THOU SHALT NOT KILL.

They didn't say to PROPHET Samuel, BUT THE BIBLE SAYS...

  • "Some things are not commanded or in force all the time."

I think that you are saying that God says, 'My children, this is a good act, but don't any of you do it.'

Is this what you are saying?

  • "No, not saying that. Is this an attempt to put words in my mouth again?"

Firstly, there is a subtle strawman in your response. I haven't ever attempted to put words in your mouth.

Secondly, there is no way that anyone can reasonably interpret my asking you what you're saying as an attempt to put words in your mouth.

Thirdly, you seem to be attributing murder to the Lord God. Do you believe that the Lord God commanded people to violate His 6th commandment?

  • I AM NOT A MORMON... JUST TO PUT IT FORWARD OFF THE BAT.... Still though just reacently i was asked about at which point the bible banned polygomy, and doing research i could not find anything of clear value speaking against polygomy.... :( btw i have one wife and am not looking for excuse for a second lol.

  • Here you gp:

    Matthew 19

3 Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?"

4 "Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator `made them male and female,'

5 and said, `For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the TWO WILL BECOME ONE flesh'?

6 So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

  • Ok.... Divorce means you have to leave one and go to the other..... let me show you several scriptures that are directly ok with polygamy, vs allot of these indirect arguements.....

(Mat 25:1) "Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.

(Mat 25:2) Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.

(Mat 25:3) For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them,

  • (Mat 25:4) but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps.

(Mat 25:5) As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept.

(Mat 25:6) But at midnight there was a cry, 'Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.'

(Mat 25:7) Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps.

(Mat 25:8) And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'

  • (Mat 25:9) But the wise answered, saying, 'Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.'

(Mat 25:10) And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.

(Mat 25:11) Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, 'Lord, lord, open to us.'

(Mat 25:12) But he answered, 'Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.'

  • Jesus said this parable, he said heaven was like this! No dont get me wrong i do not think there will be marriage in heaven as the bible clearly tells us otherwise

  • You are blowing a lot of smoke without much content. If you read Matthew 19 carefully you will see that Jesus regards Adam and Eve (one man and one woman) as God's perfect will for marriage. God has let some things go (like divorce for any reason) because of the hardness of men's hearts. Allowing female attendants to come to a wedding feast is not the same as polygamy. That people will not be married in heaven has nothing to do with the subject.

  • It was the scribes and pharisees who brought up the custom of the brother marrying his deceased brother's wife and not Jesus. Presumably Jesus would not have agreed to that as an inviolable since He said it was virtuous to be celibate if that was your calling.. Unmistakeably, Jesus' teaching was to remain celibate or be married two one partner. That was for everyone and not just church leaders.(

  • you can see in the Bible that God never instituted polygamy - but warned against it.... it was always MANS idea to take plural wives.... the first one to practice polygamy was the son of Cain... go figure...

Gods way is monogamy - mans way is sometimes polygamy...

Just message me if you want to know more - cant write too long on youtube comments...

  • If anyone was wondering why this has a low star rating it's because mormons are rating it 1 star, they dismiss the info or don't even listen to it at all. So arrogant. It's not their fault. They're brainwashed to be that way. Very close minded and have to be right all the time even when they know deep down but they've lied to themselves long enough it's like a drug to an addict it's so sad. It's almost as if there is no hope for them so why even bother?

  • If anyone is wondering why there is a high number of thumbs up on comments that are so critical towards the mormons in this case, its because the non mormons are close minded, arrogant, and have to be right. It works both ways.

Who are we to judge one's belief or way of thinking if it leads to their happiness?

  • true... it goes both ways

  • If it leads to temporary happiness but at the cost of eternal judgement, does that make what the lds say to people important..

I would have to say a lie is a lie deceit is deceit, dont tell me there is good reason for either..

  • keep it up dude
