Hi ! I use UMA25s with FL studio 7 and win xp. But when I play a note it plays after some while. And I can't play long notes or a part of song easily. How should I adjust them? Plz help me . thanks
@smgh555 Go into your music programs audio settings and change the main audio output. My computers soundcard does the same thing, but when i change it to BEHRINGER USB AUDIO it works.. try that.. or download asio4all driver. it may help... hard to explain :) now can u tell me how to use the R and B key on the midi ?!? :)
Hi, I want to get this midi controller, but I don't know what is the difference between this model and the umx250. Does someone know what makes one more expensive than the other? Thanks!
This is probably a dumb question, but can I use this to get a lag-free guitar signal in and out of my windows 7 laptop? I'd like to use this one tool to fool around with Reason on my laptop - AND use it to play with Guitar Rig using my guitar, but I am afraid of significant lag. Does it use ASIO drivers or something to make the lag mostly go away? I have a firewire interface with no lag in guitar rig on my pc - would like the same but with a laptop. Thanks.
i just got this and i want to use it as a synthesizer for gigging and that i cant get any sound to cme out of it at all i dont know if you have to put sounds in or if it comes with sounds i really need some help? :( im worried ive just wasted my money
I just bought this thing and i've been trying to figure it out how to install it forever, i have windows vista, and i have m-audio fastrack, energyxt2, and audacity installed. my computer recognizes the board, and i have the behringer driver installed. but i have no clue how to get to the singing monk thing, or how to make it work. do you have a few pointers?
i have one of these, would not recommend it to anybody. the keys dont travel as much as a regular keyboard due to slim design, the audio driver wont enable mixer slots in FL Studio and the small mic and headphone ports are fairly annoying too.
get an oxygen25 or something similar instead, i only got mine coz it was a bargain and only intend on keeping it for another short while until i buy an oxygen 49.
Im also an owner of the UMA25S. I have to say the keys are not fun to play with, the black keys are really hard and smooth playing isn't possible. But I don't play huge melodies like a Beethoven symphony so it's kind of OK... Only thing is that I can't seem to save my presets. I assign P1 to cut off frequency, P2 to LFO rate, etc.. But the next day I open FL studio and turn on my keyboard the presets are long gone.. Anyone help? Thanks in advance
Ppl asking the difference between uma/umx. UMX does NOT have USB audio interface built-in - it's just provided as a separate box (UCA202 if I'm right). So you have the same functions (more or less) but in two boxes, UMA is in one unit + it has microphone input (UCA does not have this) + that headset... quality of USB audio is not that good though (it has signal leakage from out to in, btw) - but the PRICE is the winner and it's really a good value. My two cents.
because it's a midi keyboard, it wont make any sounds of it's own. it was desiged to be used with software, good ones to try out would be FL Studio, Pro Tools, Cubase, Logic, etc. But they cost money, so I suggest downloading a Demo version to see if you like em. Good luck.
It is a controller. You have to have a program on your computer that makes sounds. I recommend Sonik Synth 2 because its very cheap and you get 5,000+ presets. Or you have to have a sequencer or sound module that can be controlled via MIDI
first of all: this keyboard cant make sound of its own, you have to usb connect it to a software program like Cubase, FL studio, ... the setting in your software can enable/disable the keyboard so first check settings
This May be abit of a stupid question but is a Audio interface something where you can plug your guitar into via Jack plug then record your guitar onto your mac (or P.C), or dose it just act as a amp for external speakers? Some of the Midi Controllers at collage (The Oxygen8 By M-Audio) have a Audio Interface built in and they do allow you to plug your guitar in, But i don't seem to see a guitar jack plug on this controller. Im Confused can anyone explain this to me? Thanks
it doesnt actually create the sounds it relays a message to a pc or an external synth to make them make the sound so yes you would need a PC or Synth to use this
i just brought myself a uma25s and i have no idea of what to do :( i want to use the uma25s as a vocoder i have installed the programs im just confused of how to use the plug ins and the vst files can anyone help me this thing cost me $260
@sonicstate Hi, I have an older Yamaha QY20. I am looking for a keyboard controller that is small and lets me record songs and new styles within the QY20's memory. I would also like to use the controller to play the QY's internal sounds and patterns in a live setting. Would you recommend the UMA25S, the UMX250 or something else. Thanks for your reviews. They are very well made and explain the ins and outs of products that, for someone like myself who is not to tech savy, can understand.
im thinking of buying this for a keyboard to use to make songs using logic express. is it worth it? if not, is there another keyboard that is less than $400 AU?
Yeah I don't see why not - the fact that it has built in audio will help you, although you could buy just a MIDI controller (and a bit bigger) and just use the audio out of the Mac
Also, I can't figure out out to reassign Notes. In fact, "Notes" does not even show up as a menu choice for me! Maybe I have a defective unit or out of date system software, but this has been a very frustrating experience for me.
If you don't believe me, record some pitch bend data into a DAW and look at the numbers. Compare to another (professional) MIDI controller. The UMA output 1/2 the pitch bend value of other controllers.
You failed to mention that the Pitch Bend only transmits 1/2 the full value of most pitch benders! This is not changeable as far as I can figure out (unless Behringer tells me otherwise)! If I would have known this in advance, I might not have bought it.
I also couldn't get the cool re-assign the notes to work like in your video. How do you do that? For me, the Note menu doesn't even show up!
Hmm, how do you mean. I did some tests here and it was just able to transmit +/- 1 octave to the recieving synth. I did have to change the patch in the synth to set the bend range to a larger amount (this is usual). The pitch bend range E12, allows you to set it from 0 to 127. lesser amounts scale down the amount of bend.
On my unit, I can not set the PB at all. It is set to 96 max in the display, NOT 127 as you claim. Behringer phone support said this could not be changed. Instead of bending 1 step, my synths bend 1/2 step. This is unacceptable! All my other keyboards send out FULL bend range. Why should I have to change (i.e. re-program) ALL my synths and VIs to accommodate this particular keyboard? Why can't it support the standard pitch bend ratio? (The octave buttons work fine, BTW.)
Nick, did your review unit function properly on the MMC side of things ? I got my UMA25S a few weeks back and can't for the life of me get the MMC transport controls to work. I've raised it with Behringer and am awaiting a reply. I select the MMC button, but none of the controls have any effect whatsoever. There doesn't appear to be many users at the moment so was wondering if yours worked ok ? I've tried 3 PC's running Reason, Live & Reaper. Thanks in advance :o)

In your opinion, would you prefer this or the Fame Tweak 25? Also, can this work via USB with FL Studio?

Your gonna need a host program, something that will run plug-ins and take a MIDI input. Ableton LE maybe?
