The followers on the Chip Mags are dog shit. They bind up and won't let the mag drop free. I found out I replaced the follower with the ACT mags and it works like a dream. My question john is with the wilson combat kit do you sacrifice one less round. I tried the cobra mag & met-gar follower and it will turn it into a 9 round mag.
@johniac7078 I tried doing that with the cobra and the met gar followers same bs. Get 9 rounds in, but no more. The follower from ACT-PSI seems to work flawlessly. I contacted ACT to see if I can order the followers only, I want to convert 15 CMC mags to that one. Thanks for the reply, I have 2 SW1911's and love them both. No problems
@FirepowerConcealed No probs. Most of these mags are all the same when it comes to outside case and it's irrelevant what the case looks like as long as it fits into the magwell and the mag locks in. Follower is the most important part and the cause of failures to feed and failures to lock slide back. Just buying WC follower + spring fixes all these issues.
I havent tried a lot of mags but the 8 round kimbers dont lock the slide back on my Springer. So now I have 9 of the 7 round factory Springer mags and have no issues.
Interesting bro... Haven't had any problems with them... But just opened my eyes on that... Give you a shout this week on the guns. Hope you and the family are doing well!
I've run fine so far with Chips but def notice the loose follower compared to Wilson so I can see your point. Never really been of fan of chips to begin with. I wish Wilson made a 10rd mag with a black sleeve like the Chips.
i'm not one to talk crap on a companies product but i have 3 chip mccormick mags 2 10 round power mags and a 10 round powermag + all 3 have problems. all 3 mags loaded with 10 rounds have problems most of the time feeding the first round. if i load 8 or 9 rounds they work most of the time. once in a while the slide wont lock back on the last round. i don't know whats the problem with them. wish they worked 100% they would be awesome.i think they should change the follower on them
I've had a chip McCormick power mag 10 rounder. I don't like them. I've had problems feeding the last round and during my shooting courses once they dropped hard on the floor the base plate nearly came off
Don't have any Chips but I've seen that type of follower in some older SA mags and in older 1911 mags in general. They just suck. Over the years I've been buying only Wilson Combat mags and have also converted all of my old mags by buying WC spring + follower. You can buy them for $7 at shopwilsoncombat. Well worth it.

@MrMuscleBilly Not really sure, but maybe if you did, you could shave down the follower a bit?

Nice to see that some people don't treat their guns and mags like grandma's fine china.

I threw mine away &use ACT 8 rd. Paying for a name&non-quality indicates they're out only for the $.

No doubt, that is a very poorly designed follower. Maybe sell them on Ebay, & get some Mec-gar or Wilsons, if better followers don't work well.
