I've never heard a transition like this in real life. I'm glad the Internet has given me this. Nobody, in real life would go to Groove Armada - this amazing Groove Armada song.. Thank god you're here.
Just read your description, even with 1210's it's still a hard mix to master and with the CDJ's......timing is crutial...you have the timing bang on...just speed at the river up abit....hard on belt drives i know....but the satisfaction is worth it :)
Not a bad mix, at one of Fat Boy Slim (aka, Norman Cookes signing off sets) Groove Armada needs to be speeded up a touch.....otherwise it is the same places Norman use's....push it up 1 to 2 % and your there
It's a massive contrast, i think the vocal should be at least a bar before the cut of born slippy.
Try getting an effects box, so you can mess with the top end of tracks, this gives you a sort of get out option if you think the mix is gunna be a bit sharp.
I can't see how some people would reply that it was mixed bad, do they read the description at all? That was a really good mix. Good way to let everyone know its closing time with that ending. thanks
I was about to flame you for copying the Fatboy Slim mix, but then I noticed your description... It's a great try! I like the contrast between the two songs, on the one hand you've got Born Slippy and you want to keep going, but then you hear At The River and it feels like it's over.
well i thought that if people in the club were dancing to born slippy.. and they actually recognised at the river.. they would realise the contrast between the two songs and appreciate how well he has done to bring these two togeather.
I donno, dude. It's just not too good of a mix, frankly. Ppl in the club would WTF because you dropped the beat they were dancing to and switched to a much slower one in no time at all. Kind of rough... It's just IMHO though. No offence. Good luck with mixing!
i not going to tell you what to do, but when mixing stuff like this try to get in and out before peoplw know what hit them. trust me its the fatboy way. good job though
thanks for your comment, just to finally get this cleared up this is the END of a dj set, if it was in the middle of the set i could understand it being strange to have a huge come down like that, put it as a way of huge finale tune into a big hands in the air waving end. technically in a way you get a very trancey type feel when the to songs are together
Hey Man, u r really good with those, I don't like the two songs mixed together, just because underworld's one is kinda hard techno music, while groove armada's seems ambient music. Keep it up ;)
ok thanks for your comments, once again like i said in a previous comment there is no rule that you cant mix the 2 and if u listened right through you would of noticed it was the end of a set, but thanks again
born slippy legend choon, at the river also a a legend but a hard techy choon into chilled sun set its a big difference.... no offence mate ya did well to mix it but thats just my opinion.
not sure why i would be offended to be honest, also didnt realise there was some sort of rule that says you can't mix two different genres together, but thanks for your comment
i dont understand it... i heard this combination of tracks on essential mix of fatboyslim from year 2001 or something.. and that mix was really damn cool and clear... this is bad copy of some else... this is pure.. sorry
The beats keep running off!!! But awesome try at it! Good job brother!!!! Now get your dj wrench out and tighten the beats up! :)

i kinda get what everyones talking about
by the river, kinda ambient type music
where as born slippy, kinda deep house
but i understand what your saying, that theres no rule against doing something like that
it came out well though, sometimes mixing these types of genres just dont fit...

thanks for your comment, just to finally get this cleared up this is the END of a dj set, if it was in the middle of the set i could understand it being strange to have a huge come down like that, put it as a way of huge finale tune into a big hands in the air waving end. technically in a way you get a very trancey type feel when the to songs are together

wait.. wtf is up with the seemingly random kiddy effects at the end? random splotches of noise? Nvm.. fail

its called spinning back a record and messing around with the cross fader and not taking life to seriously and perfect, sorry to disapoint you
craigk2000 4 years ago
It doesn't flow perfectly, but you did a pretty good job.
I would have left out some of the "chugga chugga" sound, as just the added drums are a perfect effect.

thanks for reading the info at the side:
"Its slightly off due to my naff Numfark turntables not holdin pitch well (no quatz lock)"
i like your vids too

Nothing wrong with the concept. The genre and key difference don't prevent it working.
The internet is full of armchair experts who like nothing more than disparaging other people's work.
