  • Methadone is a great thing for many many people...If abused, it can be bad news,(like any other narcotic, or tobbacco, or alchohol ect...)

  • I'm sorry for this Mother, but I'm sure the Son knew what he was taking it isn't like someone tied him down and forced him to take methadone. Methadone has really improved my life and I know many more people that have overdosed from Heroin than from Methadone. When someone dies from Methadone it is usually because they are not on it regularly and have bought it on the street either to get high or to try to stop taking another drug.

  • @KevinVancouver2 You're right. This mother has a webpage that has a video on the front page and every single case they highlight involved people taking drugs that weren't prescribed or the patient was taking more than prescribed and one case where a detox physician wasn't certified to work in addiction medicine and had no or inadequate training for Methadone detox.

  • This is mixed bullshit, methadone is **WAY** worse to get off than even Heroin,it does work, but like I said the withdraws even surpass addiction to benzos....the other thing I find "weird" is how the "doctors" always amp up your dose saying things like,"....well,your on 20 mills...lets put you up to 25,we don't want you feeling un-comfortable..."

  • ...its like they don't even know the full affects of the drug, nor do they care. Its about the money-THERE *IS** a **minimum* of at least a FOUR-HUNDRED percent mark-up in price per dosage they add to the cost,in fact,up here actual licensed doctors have left their family practice and are now methadone "doctors" .

So you just know the moneys DAMN good, real good.

  • @rebaskins Nobody has ever said otherwise. I have seen people at that clinic turn around their lives and go from prostitution and other petty crime to full time employment and a normal life. There are a lot of problems with the clinic system, but Methadone itself saves lives, saves money, stops the spread of disease.

  • @rebaskins That hasn't been my experience with methadone withdrawal - I find the heroin withdrawal much more severe. The methadone withdrawal is milder but lasts longer.

  • I was on methadone for 4 years, I got on saboxone, all i have to say is The worst day i have had on saboxone is better than the best day i have had on methadone. Methadone and opiot drugs gives you a false sinsation that everything is ok. that is quoted from a doctors. Then i would take more or other drugs because i was clouded by methadone. I understand it cost a lot but look at what you spending now.

  • @catfishgetter Suboxone also has that effect (false sense of well being)

  • This kind of media coverage gives people who takes this kind of medication as prescribed for legitimate reasons a bad rap. It is disturbing that people sell these medications and/or abuses them. Just keep this in mind folks. Not all people who are prescribed pain killers are drug dealers or dope heads. I am glad that these clinics are cracking down on people who sell and abuse.

  • @ryanb788 There is not a single person here being caught selling methadone. If you look, they are doing these exchanges right in front of security. They are most likely selling bus tokens which was very common there at that time.

  • @christo930 I didn't notice that thanks. I really doubt most people who would sell meds would be doing it right in front of the clinic, which doesn't make sense to begin with. The clinic doesn't dispense the methadone (at least all pain clinics I have seen) . If anything I would suspect if they did have the nerve to sell somewhere it would be in front of a pharmacy. The footage is hilarious though. Especially right in front of security. The media will do anything to make a story.

  • @ryanb788 Also, something you can't tell from this video is that there is a separate exit from the clinic that the patients have to exit from when they leave the medication booth. NOBODY walks out of that front door who has methadone on them. Also, take-home doses are only given to patients who have been drug/crime free for long periods of time. It takes about 1 year just to get the first one.

  • @christo930 are you naive or just stupid? the girl they interviewed just said thats what was goin on when she was there

  • @funkymoneylove She didn't say that any of the activity caught on tape was a drug deal. There is security right there. The pill dealing does go on, but it is much more discreet that that. There are video cameras everywhere and nobody walking out of the front door of this clinic (at the time of the taping) had Methadone on them. You must exit through a different door after being medicated, I know I worked there.

  • @christo930 her exact words were "its kind of hard gettin clean when you walk out and theyre selling drugs right in your face...mostly pills and their takehome bottle." oh, a different door, well a seperate exit would make it impossible to walk around the front of the building again right?

  • @funkymoneylove I don't deny that there were drug sales going on at the clinic, I deny that anything caught on tape in this interview is a drug deal. Also, this girl was kicked off the clinic and an ax to grind.

  • @christo930 yeah well unless you were one of the people standing out front it really doesnt matter...its safe to say all these handoffs arent bus tokens, especially the guy selling the half drank soda, thats all.

  • If taken as directed and not mixed w/other opiates it works great, I am sorry of your loss but he put that methodone to his own lips.

  • @dwrockerforlife I agree. The media tends to demonize Methadone but nearly all of the deaths are attributed to misuse of the drug, not use of it.

  • get off methadone immediately ,get sick then get on suboxone, its a life saver and you can actually quit opiates for real.....methadone will never keep anybody clean.fact

  • Fuck Yall

  • pay attenction....before taking suboxone/subutex/buprenorfina must have passed/spent at least 36 hours from your last dose of any ather opiate last heroin oxycontin or others especially metadone if you don't do so you will have a very severe withdrawl crisis of many hours pay much attencion when you've been at maintenance of metadone for several years

  • Parkside is a great place!!!!

  • @brentcherie Are you a patient there?

  • Im glad I got put on suboxone. Methadone is very dangerus. Fuck that shit..

  • @morphine30roxy Suboxone is an opiate too, honestly it is just as bad as methadone, the marketing reps for it new this thats why its more expensive, in the end your just getting ripped off

  • @crookshanks576 Suboxone does have fewer side effects. I know people who have to take stool softeners when on Methadone and nearly everyone gains weight.

  • @crookshanks576 wrong wrong wrong....lived it ....did it and taken every variation of opiate sickness and suboxone used correctly works, period bro

  • being on methadone is no way to live...i was on the shit for almost 5 years and now i've been off for almost 6 months. it hasn't been easy.

but when i look back on how i got on methadone and started mixing it with xanax and klonopin, that shit ruined my life.

trust me...there is a life after methadone. and it's well worth living!

  • @austinr420 The fact that you mixed it with other drugs doesn't mean that it might be right for someone else. I hope you are doing well off the stuff.

  • dumb fuks should make them take the drug in front of them.

i cant leave the chemist with my dose, i have to take in front of them.

they should do this at these clinics but i guess they're just really dumb or really lazy.

    silly set up they have.

  • @MAKER6450 They do, not only that, but they have to talk to the dispensing nurse before they leave so they can't spit back. It's the earned take-home doses they are being accused of selling.

  • @MAKER6450 Lets face it everyone hates us an thinks were the scum of the earth..Why do they what we ingest so much..Why not make it like alcohol regarding driving wise..Or why cant we get methadone prescribed ?? Like a month or two pscript..Suboxone is like 500 dollars a month plus 100 for the doctor..'

  • @QuashDemocrats i live in australia and we dont pay to see doctors.

suboxone cost $80 a month where i live.

  • methadone saved my life. end of story.

have gone from 140 mg a day down to 32 mg a day now and will be off completely by this time next year. was a heroin addict for almost ten years. addiction is not a disease. and ohff it was a back injury and continuous refills from a doctor that led to me needing something with a little more kick. so fuck off. you are the scumbag. there is also a big difference in thinking you need a drug and your body being physically addicted to a drug.

  • Why are you calling me a scumbag? I am advocating for Methadone treatment for people who need it. Maybe you should read the sidebar, or maybe you are speaking to one of the other posters, I don't know. Good luck with your taper.

  • @POLYMORPHLEGION it saved my life too.

i was shooting everything i could get my hands on.

methadone has stopped me from seing dealers, spending money and using syringes so they are all good things to me.

i see more good than bad from methadone treatment.

methadone saves lives...dont believe the lies.

  • OHFFS09,

You clearly are displaying your ignorance, lack of information, and prejudice. Let me guess, you are a teenager or in your 20's, and think you know it all. Let me tell you, you do not. Harm reduction is the only thing that works. Would you prefer to have an addict break into your house and steal money, or kill you for money, or would you rather have them in treatment so they can refrain from doing drugs and get clean. Drug addiction affects all of us! Drug treatment works, moron!

  • To hell with the drug addict's they got themselves into that mess not my concern or problem.

  • People don't live in a vacuum. We are all affected by things that happen in our community. Crime goes up, diseases are spread, taxes increase, quality of life issues...

It is far cheaper and more effective to treat the problem than to ignore it or lock-em-up.

1 addict with a $60 a day habit costs society 10x that amount easily.

  • Bullets will always be cheaper just shoot them and leave them for dead.

  • Ok, we'll make the suggestion to our congresspeople.

I love when people like you talk about social problems. We'll just kill everyone we don't like.

Let's see how you would feel if you or someone you love gets into some sort of trouble like an addiction, a mental illness or maybe some criminal activity. People's attitude ALWAYS changes when it's about them. Even good ole' Rush had a change of heart when he got addicted to oxys.

  • There is a big difference between a mentally ill individual and a scum bag fucktard drug addict or criminal. The mentally ill person deserves help as for the other two FUCK THEM.They made themselves that way no one held a gun to their head's and told them to break the law.

  • Do you know how many of these people started off on prescribed prescription pain killers?

I personally know a young man who got hit by a drunk driver and went in a coma and got addicted to morphine in the hospital / rehabilitation. He lost his job as an paramedic and is now on methadone. Is it his fault? What about the older lady that gets addicted to her pain meds and is going to 3 or 4 doctors? Never broke a law in their life.

You think you know everything, but you don't. Open your mind.

  • Oh and you do ?never said that I am open minded just don't want my tax dollars being used to treat idiot's.There are more important things and people that need the help.I am going to guess that you yourself are a drug addict or used to be one.

  • No, I used to work in th IT dept of a Methadone clinic.

This stuff is usually paid for with local tax dollars and sales taxes and things like that. Welfare insurance does cover it, but welfare insurance is handled by a private company who issues insurance to recipients and the premium is paid by the federal gov. So technically, your tax dolls don't usually pay for this.

  • a drug addict is mentally ill and spiritually poor, you're probably addicted to something, food, sex , etc. too much of anything is sinful . don't knock or judge what you don't understand. I'm a recovering addict, me staying clean depends on what i can do for still sick and suffering addicts out there.

It could be a member of your family that you really love, me and my n.a. family would give them all the love and support they need to get their lives back together

  • Drug addiction/alcoholism has nothing to do with "spirituality" and I think the powerless, 1 day at a time approach is self defeating. The only powerlessness someone should have is to stop trying to "control" it and just give up using all together. The 12 steps are loaded with religion and self defeating behavior.

Addiction is a medical problem and should be treated as such. You wouldn't 12 step for diabetes!

12 step programs have not shown to be effective at all in alcoholism/addiction.

  • Watching people fail in 12 step programs is heart breaking. Many people want genuinely to quit and turn to a "program" that doesn't work and they they blame themselves because the program tells them that it is 100% effective to those who apply it right. I can make a 1 step program that works for people who follow it 100% of the time..

    Step 1 - Don't ever use.

    A perfect program, right?

Rational recovery is much better then NA and it offers people real hope and the tools to do it. NA offers God.

  • And your point is what exactly that I should really care

  • Who asked you to care? Our tax dollars are always going to go to something we don't agree with. I don't agree with tax dollars going to blow people up but the military goes around blowing stuff up. I despise tax dollars going to churches but it happens anyway (faith based initiatives).

Lastly, many of these people return to productive lives after treatment.

  • If you are being sarcastic, I suggest you read the sidebar. I worked at this clinic for some time and I am very familiar with the inside layout of the building. The really funny thing is they repeatedly show red methadone in square bottles and this clinic uses yellow methadone in round bottles.

You can't just assume that people handing each other things are illegal, especially when done right in the open in front of security. Until it can be proven to be pills, they are tokens.

  • I contacted the local news station and explained why most of the report was wrong, but it had already aired so what could I do?

Go to harmed website and tell them how wrong they are. I created an account and tried to tell them very nicely but they don't listen. If you aren't an anti methadone nutcase they don't want to hear you. They had a video at the time and EVERY single case was about methadone abuse and nobody in it was taking it as prescribed by a doctor.

    sorry about the mistake.

  • People who dies almost always die because they were not taking it as prescribed or under a doctors care at all. Polydrug deaths are the most common (of a very rare thing) with the most common 2nd drug being alcohol and benzo's coming in a strong 2nd.

Point is, don't take methadone unless prescribed by a doctor who is familiar with any other meds you might be on.

  • There is nothing going on outside of this clinic. What you are witnessing is the sale of septa tokens (bus tokens). The layout of this clinic makes the soda thing IMPOSSIBLE to be methadone. Right inside the door are soda machines. The medicating booths are on another floor and you must leave the building from an door UPSTAIRS and walk down steps on the other side of the building. This was bad reporting and nothing more.

  • Mine too -- along with hundreds of thousands of others in the US alone. Just do a little research -- don't be drawn in by all the hysteria. I've been on it safely for over 9 years with NO untoward effects. I feel badly for anyone who loses a loved one to ANY drug overdose -- but it is the ABUSE and MISUSE of methadone which is deadly.

  • ok so if your dr gives you methadone and you sell it would they set out set out of it and bash it???

  • I'm not sure what you are saying, but if a dr writes you a prescription for a controlled substance and you sell it, you should go to jail. Methadone needs to be taken under the supervision of a Dr. It can be dangerous and only a Dr can determine the best dose and dose scheduling for you. Any drug taken in ignorance can be deadly, that is why some drugs are prescription only. Even OTC drugs can be VERY dangerous, like Tylenol, when not taken correctly.

  • Methadone is more addictive than heroin. Heroin addicts should go cold turkey.

An "opiate withdraw is the most horrible feeling in the world?" Then don't take heroin, idiot! That feeling should be the b**ches incentive not to take drugs.

  • I like how this video talks about Methadone deaths increasing 400% in the past few years, but what they don't mention is that Methadone prescriptions have gone up thousands of percentage points due to the demonization of oxycontin and percocet. Insurance companies love methadone because it's cheaper and the doctors like it because it keeps the dea out of their offices. Methadone prescribed for addicts is probably the most regulated medication is existence.

  • Believe me, a lot of white people die, including Jews, that nobody cares about. This woman is well connected, well funded and comes from money. She absolutely will not accept that her son CHOOSE TO ABUSE Methadone and the Methadone dose he bought didn't even come from this clinic and it's very far from her area. She runs a website called harmd and they ban anyone who doesn't demonize Methadone or any other pain killer.

  • when they say "paid for with your tax dollars" that surprises me. Every clinic I've been to and heard of was a private company, like Colonial Management Group, or Central Florida Treatment Centers. And we pay for the methadone ourselves ($13 per day). Show me a clinic where I don't have to pay for my MMT, and I'll be moving to that state/city this week!

  • If you don't have insurance a tax funded company called BHSI will provide 4 months of treatment, after that you are expected to get insurance or pay cash. It is not tax payer funded in any normal sense. BHSI pays for a lot of different services at any profit or non profit agency for mental health or DandA.

  • As I stated in the comments to the right, the sales were most likely bus tokens. That is why they are done in the open with no attempt to hide it. Drug deals are taken away from the immediate area due to camera's being all over the place at that corner outside the clinic. The girl buying the drink is buying a drink. There are vending machine right inside that door. After getting methadone, you must exit through the back door which is not on camera. This video is VERY misleading.

  • One other thing, the video says that your tax dollars are paying for this clinic. That is not true. You must have insurance or pay cash.
