  • One of my favorite songs from 76 it feels like i'm starting high school again, the very first day of high school this song was on the radio just as i was going to leave and i never forgot this song.Nowadays the radio stations don't even play this song unless you have the cd or cassette tape.

  • open torso suited marimba player Bo Wagner... LOL

  • @DrFlippin Ah yes, the '70s !!

  • The guy on the vibes is absolutely talented!! One of very few, if not the only, solo done on xylophone / vibes in the 70s rock era. Greatttt tune!, reminds me of my summer vacation down south in Pensicola back in '76.

  • @TheEldoradoKid

One of the most distinctive and memorable songs ever. The website says it's a marimba, but I don't really know the difference lol.

  • @MrUnc82alum Ahhhh yesss the Marimba! of course! Do you remember the Baja Marimba Band that was kind of a "second stringer" to Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass? Anyway the guy here is just a crackerjack at playing it. Bad clothing malfunction though; I dunno if he is working so hard that he needs the air conditioning, or if he is really trying to impress the ladies (this was the disco era afterall), but he needs to zip up that jumpsuit!

  • Sorry to those who believe this is a live version of this song. It is indeed the studio version (play them back to back, it's obvious), overdubbed atop video footage of their Midnight Special performance.

  • @mikper7 Yeah, but an A+ on the lip syncing. Milli Vanilli could have learned something from this.

  • sick xylophoning awesome

  • Guess what! I got a fever...and the only prescription...is more xylophone! LOL

  • Incredible vibe solo!

  • Jonas, Miley Cyrus, ni Taylor Swift cannot record something with a high level of musicianship like that. The harmony of this kind of song will kill them automatically. a great thing of old decades is that you had to be talented and creative to make music. Today, Industry lost north, south, west and east with people with a hole in their stupid brains.

  • One of the best songs forever

  • Damn this song is stuck in my head.........

  • They simply don't make it like this anymore ,love it!!!!!!!

  • Best Xylophone solo ever!!!!!!!

  • the marima player's name is Bo Wagner..i think he is a doc now in CA.

  • Love it. Such memories from my youth!

  • This is summer time top down driving along the southern California coast music....

  • This song is my #1 all-time classic!!! me & my fiancee' R having this played at R wedding.

  • I just read in here that this song is about drugs and getting a bj ..plus its on the Internet about it... Damn I liked this song growing up.... Now I know why he laughs "ha ha " he says ....

    Oh well!!!!!

  • Thank You Starbuck! I'm from Baltimore, and Love to drive across the Chesapeake Bay! Every month, I post this video on my fb page to celebrate the beauty of the Full Moon and the greatness of this song! Indeed, Moonlight Feels Right! One of my all-time favorite songs!

  • this was Aja before Steely Dan!!!!

  • good song but that video rock tour thing is kinda annoying

  • I love I love I love this song!! <3

  • coffee place namesake

  • great sond thanks for sharingººººººº

    OZMOSIS

  • Just heard this on an old air check of a radio station in 1976. The DJ said he'd love to see it do really well and to go to number 1, however, it never was a hit in the UK, but went to number 3 in the US.

The whole song is about sex and drugs. A "tricky French connection" is him scoring some cocaine. "Dropping the top at Chesapeake Bay" is him unzipping his pants. The "moon" is a euphemism for his penis, and the "tide rising again" is an erection.

  • @Enerjee All that while wearing those freaky burnt orange socks and platform white sandals, dude has a pair! One question if the moon is what you say it is, then what's the moonlight? ;>)

  • @jko3139 - well your wink would suggest you know the meaning of "moonlight". If the "Moonlight Feels Right" for him, then it's a perfect fit.

  • Now that's a cool white boy : )

  • Is that Chewbaka playing the xylophone ?

  • @aerocoupeman No, Chewbacca would have a bandoleer strapped across his chest....and just a tiny bit more hair.

  • I just don't know what it is about this song, but I have to get a fix of it every day! I was 14 when this came out, loved it then, and I still love it. What I like about this type of music is that the vocals stop to let us hear the music...I'm not sure what it's called, but vocals today seem to just run on and on with no breaks for instrumentals. One thing I love about this song is the bass line and drums...they stand on their own very well. Add the two synths and the xylo-rimba solo...WOW!

  • That's a Xylorimba. It's an instrument that's the culmination of a xylophone and a marimba. Gives more range than using one or the other. Anyone know the players name? Most awesome mallet solo in a pop tuner ever!

  • I REMEMBER WHEN I WAS AN EARLY TEEN, BABYSITTING EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT. I WOULD WATCH THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL. THEY HAD THE BEST MUSIC. DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF THEY HAVE CD'S OR DVD'S OUT THERE OF THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL? I WOULD LOVE TO TAKE A TRIP BACK TO THE 70'S.

  • @caligirl4life17 Yes they do have dvds of the Midnight Special. I saw them not to long ago on a paid programming show on cable.I forgot how much they cost but you could probably find and order them off the internet. I mite get them myself cause i was a teenager in the 70s and this show brings back a lot of great memories.

  • god i so miss wonderful pop songs like this one... the 70's was truly a golden decade of pop

  • Like this song, but the best part about it is that it when it was popular, those were the best days of my life.

  • Two Minimoogs! The Moog synthesizers are what bring this song such charm. I would count myself lucky to have just one Minimoog.

  • Unbelievable xylaphone!

  • ONE OF THE BEST SONGS OF THE 70'S WITHOUT A DOUBT

  • @denisboy1966 Agreed... this song would make the top 5 70's list for sure.

  • i remember this song back when i was in kindergarten. i even found (and bought) the album at the local goodwill a few years ago. cool song. gotta love the 70's...

  • Fucking lovely song !!

  • This is a good song!!i I use to sit and listen to this music, mom and her sisters use to play this stuff on the stereo, vinyl LP's!!!! Gotta love the seventies!!!! Still love my eighties!!!!

  • Far too much coke.......

  • i agree bad ass zylophone solo, forgot all about it until i heard the whole song, great key board riff to,

  • Absolutely Awesome to hear this again....unbelievable vibe solo too ;-)

  • Take a toke and step out for the evening .

  • first time i've seen the singer. TOTALLY isn't what i thought he would look like.

  • dude on the zylo kicks ass. too bad most of the turds that pass for artists these days don't have that kind of musical ability. how much talent does it take to scream "where are all my bitches and hoes" at the top of your lungs?

  • @63oscarb you realize this, probably my guess is you are a musician, but this zylo solo is classic, imagine the level of musicianship to perform that, the whole arrangement is of all the parts in this song are so well thought of,so glad to hear others like you comment like you did cos sometimes,i feel i am all alone on these topics, cheers..

  • @63oscarb yep and they need Auto-Tune to do that.

  • Thank you, Paul F. Tompkins (via Never Not Funny ep.928), the drummer does look like he's out of "The Dark Crystal" and the singer does look like a character Joe Flaherty would play. Check out the man in the cat suit on the vibes!!!

  • Thumbs up and pass the 'ludes! Let's hop in the hot tub and swing baby...

  • He also comments on his own shit on amazon.com. This dude needs a reality check ;)

Anyways, whenever I'm feeling down my boyfriend pops in our "Moonlight Grooves" cd and it never fails to make me laugh and put a smile on my face. Also, zoogster lingerie is shitty. I don't recommend it.

  • I ordered some lingerie from Zoogster Lingerie and it came with a free cd called "moonlight grooves". I played it for shits and giggles and laughed like crazy. "Moonlight feels right" was the first song on this cd. I honestly thought it was just some turd in his basement making shitty music until I looked it up online. Can you imagine my face when I found out this was a hit song over 30 years ago and this Bruce Blackman motherfucker is still trying to push it on people? Wtf?

  • Thumbs up if you're here because of Paul F. Tompkins!

  • @oedipax4 nearly had an aneurysm at the marimba solo!!

  • The 70's was the golden age of music

  • @suria49 "It" was a Golden Age..U can take that with you to the grave..For me, this brings to mine a certain night. Parents went on vacation, home alone and a Friend came over that night..I remember this night distincly because it was one of those beautiful moonlight nights in Southern Cal..it was almost like yesterday when I hear this song

  • i like his footwork and sandals under the keyboard

  • Great video. Love the greatness of the Xylophone solo. Always been a fan of the song but even more so now!

  • Julio TU!!! muy bien, mis respetos,años buscandola y del disco atado a ti me enlazo a tu video...gracias....millones de gracias.

  • This is one of my favorite 70s tunes. Just something about it.

  • Of all the xylophone solos in popular music, this one's the best.

  • He even lip synchs the laugh, now that's dedication. Neon Sign, Xylophone solo, Cheesy hat, this song has it all. Long Live the 70's !

  • Nice!!!!

  • The lead singer is pimp!! lol

  • This is one smooth song!!

  • Great audio & video quality. Too bad julio had to go and ruin it with his f'n spammy- ass floating logo thing.

  • marimba or otherwise, you gotta dig that solo!

  • i love this music...it really captivates what was going on in the mid 70s...its strong on all counts...seduction..the sea...and a romance...love it

  • When this guy chuckled during the song, did he think he said something funny? What am I missing here?

  • @boykorda He said the tide will 'rise' again, get it?

  • Seems like a douchebag

  • They parlayed the profits from this song into a small coffee shop in Seattle, the rest is history

  • @kissed61

Hey man, that was too much. :o)

  • This song brings back great memories of a carefree summer camping with my best friend's family! We would hear this on the transistor radio! They were the best days of my life!!! BobbyK

  • by the way of the leg movement, id say that he must have to take a major piss.........

  • mad xylophone skills

  • @Damon98335 A marimba, not a xylophone (but yeah the skillz are mad!)

  • @Damon98335 mad skills but a marimba is wood xylophone is metal

  • this dude is freakin cool... reminds me of my dad's friends from back then :D

  • Burt reynolds lead vocals! Burt Reynolds!

  • @thecoolestdad Actually, he looks more like Gallagher. I'm waiting for him to get up and smash a watermelon after the song is over!

  • @thecoolestdad LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's a great song , it's funny how a song can remind u of a certain person of your past, Her name was Linda and I can still see her playing volley ball

at the beach it was spring and a little cool ( temp Wise) but boy was I hot on her!!!!!!!!

  • @wspencerable Yeah, I totally agree with you. I just got home from the Army when that song came out. It was a great summer, and a civillian again. Got a job as a bouncer in a popular night club, babes galore!!!

  • the drummer is on some of that good 70"s ka'cain and my man on the xylophone is killing it with a badass solo!

  • Has anyone ever heard this song in San Fran while drinking- wow!

Try it with headphones while chasing a trolley and reading the poems of John Robert Haney and taking one last toke- pure gorgeosity!

  • I like this song. But man am I glad I wasn't old enough to have been interested in guys in the 70's, were they all so furry? And the drummer's hair 1:18 - 1:28.....inexplicable! Is that an Ewok on his head?

  • Best xylophone solo EVER. The guy's concentration and speed is incredible

  • @bcakapinky Bo Wagner. Amazing....he deserves a medal or something!

  • Pot & music was better in the 70's

  • Love this song!! A classic for sure!!

  • Gallagher had a gig beside smashing watermelons?

  • Real music,not commercial.

  • Take note kids. No sampling, no step sequencing, no computer editing. How many kids nowadays have the talent or patience to play a full guitar track, let alone a xylophone solo in real time. recording on an Otari 2" and editing with a razor blade really made you try harder to get it right.

  • That cat owns that Marimba.

  • Did Burt Reynolds and Gallagher have a baby?

  • @constantrvlr you made me laugh :)

  • @constantrvlr Hilarious!!!

  • @constantrvlr omg it looks just like them !!!!

  • @constantrvlr Hilarious!!! roflmao

  • @constantrvlr That's funny!!!!

  • @constantrvlr lol but he does look like a blend of those two lol

  • @constantrvlr lol..burt was around but gallager didnt hit it big untill after this...funny though cos they all lookl related lol

  • I really wish I had a time machine.........

  • I second that!

  • Great Xylophone solo!

  • i loved this song back in the day!!! great song..

  • he always reminds me of some guy from the game, The Super Mario Bro.... absolutely no offence. thanks for a wonderful music ! love it ! :-)

  • ALTHOUGH THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE SONG FROM AN INCREDBLE ERA,.....DOES ANYONE NOTICE HOW ITS THE EXACT TRACK FROM THE LP.THATS BECAUSE BACK IN THOSE DAYS WHEN THEY PLAYED ON A SHOW OR DID A VIDEO,IT WAS AN ACT,AND THEY LIP SINCED IT.MOST OF THE TIME THEY FAKED IT.NEVER THE LESS IT IS A CLASSIC IN A TIME WHEN MUSIC WAS GREAT.SO GLAD I GOT TO LIVE THROUGH IT.

  • Every time I hear someone say "xylophone" when it's really a "marimba", I die a little on the inside :(

  • Midnight Special was corny as hell

  • Smooth......timeless classic. This groovy sound captures

all the magic of the 70's---, so that we all can dig it!

  • @Silvesterknaller2008 LOL, I remember this song coming on as a young 20 year old. I seem to also remember it coinciding with a pretty little blond named Vonda - a dark service road next to a set of RR tracks - a red 1971 298ci mustang with fogged up windows .... well lets just say the song brings back wonderful memories for me too:)

  • @PooPooOnMyNewShoe

I saw that Mustang down by the Railroad tracks years ago but I remember it having a 289ci engine.

  • @renwest51 Hahaha , oops 289ci. I think it could have been "engineless" that night and I would have not cared. lol cool song btw.

  • Someone ought to fly to Costa Rica and kick that asshole in the nuts for fucking this song up with his stupid ad.

  • @smokiebird06 hahaa, lmao

  • DAMN SON , HARD IN THE PAINT 2:00 DAT SOLO

  • Too much Julio, esta bueno hombre ya basta!

  • I feel 12 again...

  • This precious song brings back great memories of camping with my best friend's family at Hither Hills State Park, and Wildwood State Park during thos wonderful summer days! My best friend used to alert me to the bones being played in this song! Well, I dedicate this song to Anthony----and especially his mom for being so great to me during those 3 years of camping from 1975--1977! Those were the best days of my life! BobbyK :+)

  • Awwww buckle up, we tripping through the 70's aginnn...!

  • FLASHBACK !!! OMG !!! i'm right back to 1976 ! Chills !

  • I spent a week of my life in high school learning that marimba solo.

  • genial!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 70s had the BEST music and WORST fashion

  • @sugahface Fashion changes along with the music. Look what we have now, if you call that "MUSIC."

  • @surfside48 ...It changes with the times not the music Hun and yes i do call it music, there is a lot of great bands out there today to pick a few..stained,metallica,puddle of mud,i could go on for days, : )

  • I remember seeing them on mike douglas show.after moonlight feels right they also sang there other hit everybody be dancing.hard to believe 36 years later i would be on a computer looking at this great moment.

  • I first saw these blokes on the Mike Douglas Show in 1975 when I came home from school. Second grade and was digging the singer in the same white hat. Check it out, that show does exist..... I've loved this tune for 36 years and it will forever be a timeless classic.

  • "Moonlight Feels Right" by Starbuck reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1976.

  • @TimFrith24 I'm glad it reached #3! Last of my 8th grade year and went to Myrtle Beach with a friend and his family and this was a hit then!! I'd loved to have played this in marching band but wasn't in band until the next year. We never was sent the music for it.

  • Lovely feel good song, dusts down my happy memories of 1976

  • Just a simply perfect tune like no other. * * * * *

  • I think his last name is actually MORON ! for putting a retarded add in a classic video......
