  • Absolutely incredible race. Most horses would never ever be willing to squeeze through the type of opening that You went through. It was an amazingly gutsy move by both horse and rider. Not to mention, she skimmed paint for much of the stretch.

  • I was there for this race. But the best filly race ever on the NYRA circuit was the Mother Goose with Meadow Star and Light Lite. I dont know if its posted here but thats an even better race strategy wise. It was maybe 1992? Bailey ruled the Spa.

  • How could you not love this. Greatest sport hands down.

  • The best call of the meet

  • what a stretch drive..

  • Thank you so much for posting this race, I still miss Carson Hollow - what a wonderful filly she was.

  • Exquisite. Thank you for posting this. A phenomenal run by both fillies.

  • What a gutsy little filly YOU was. How she kept going with that tiny opening, I'll never know...

  • God, tears, everytime. Still wish Carson Hollow had come out on top. Such an amazing race and a brilliant call by Durkin.

  • Was hoping that this race would be available. Brings a tear to my eye thinking how Carson Hollow soon passed away not too long after. Boy it's great to find racing fans. That 2004 Remsen was pretty good. but IF anyone could find the Read the Footnotes v Second of June they'll enjoy that one tremendously also. Race took place at Gulfstream Park but I'm a little hazy on the year.

  • prob the greast race Ive seen. Greatest call as well

  • My favorite stretch drive of all-time is the 1989 Preakness with Sunday Silence and Easy Goer.

  • Ah yes, great choice. I really can't make up my mind which is my fave. I guess I'll have to watch them all again [gotta love it]. Take care.

  • @ketcher2 My fav is the 2009 Belmont. Not Summer Bird, DUNKIRK. Gutsiest stretch run I've ever seen. And he had a fractured leg when he ran it. Dunkirk=Ninja.

  • Here's another interesting thing about that day at Saratoga in 2002. bigfatgreekman might remember this: there were co-features and the other one was a head bob photo finish also. Not as exciting as the Test but an excellent race in its own right. It was the Diana Handicap, a $500,000 turf race with Tates Creek nipping Voodoo Dancer by a nose.

  • Just posted the Diana...fantastic race. Thanks for the heads-up. Take care.

  • No, I didn't remember that, but now I'll have to check out the video. Thanks.

  • Both Races were won by the great Jerry Bailey. This guy was King and knew how to time his rides perfectly.

He did not have strength but he had patience when he rode his horses.

  • Man, your videos are fantastic. This was a race i have been looking for for a long time. It is probably the most exciting race i have ever seen live. If I can make a request, could you post the 2004 remsen stakes with galloping grocer and rockport harbor?

  • Sadly, different fortunes for these two fillies. You became a champion before retiring to the breeding shed, while Carson Hollow died of complications from colic surgery less than a year after this race.

  • I agree, a wonderful career for You, very sad indeed about Carson's Hollow. God bless.

  • "You" are amazing, cf1970. I mentioned this race last night and barely had time to wake up and you had posted it. Much appreciated.

Maybe the best race I've ever seen in person. I was near the rail and they looked like they were joined.

I rooted so hard for Carson Hollow and this might have been the only time I (briefly) disliked Jerry Bailey for pulling out a race. Incredible he got through on the rail, especially after Spring Meadow got cut off.

  • Thanks for your kind words. You're welcome. I noticed your comments on your fine post of the 2003 Test and dug this race up for you. Thank you for the heads up about this superb race. Wonderful stuff. Take care.

  • Hehe. You...I kinda like it. It is different to be sure. What an amazing race this was, wire battles are terrific. Take care.
