to me the appearance rely more on uing previous Frame info than to focus on Learned model (say appearance , Histogram etc) that's why dots can easily be stolen away by passing occlusion..

sorry i was being sarcastic it really uses 3D infrared cameras which can scan an entire view port and calculate its 3D form with very good accuracy.
