That think Sr "built" was shit and something Jason created who prob never even rode a bike and Jr. has a huge fan base with the mass because the mass no nothin about bikes. Its a popularity contest, end of story. Jr is talented forsure but not on the same level as Jesse.
this aint riding... Real riding is when you put it on the edge, not when u have big ass mechanics and a big ass trailer truck behind ur wheel to help u out.
If ne one wants to ride cross country from Maryland lemme know
Such garbage. For "expert" bike builders, ALL of them build junk that fell apart on the road. What's the point? Why are they considered brilliant when what they build always fails??
@laxpol they break down because most of the motors and technology is from the 50's. carb problems and magneto problems happen, no matter how much skill you have.
@wojtas2392 I second that comment! I loved Larry's bikes and innovative old school designs. Few of us still love the metal flake and gold leaf art from the old days. I liked how he put those things in his designs. R.I.P Indian Larry
Bikes are about riding not fixing. It is possible to build a decent, reliable chopper but once you start fabricating and sacrifice strength and reliability for art, you better put that bike in the showcase and find something better to ride. I have ridden my chopped Harley dyna (too many mods to mention) all over Canada and the U.S. and even the most reliable bikes can snap abelt or break a cable but it is not too likely the seat is going to blow off or the engine mounts fail.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
pieces of junk, can't ride 500 miles without seeing the side of the rode. my 72' triumph can go from coast to coast with 20k miles on it. these things are called art, not a motorcycles. "wrenching is part of motorcycling" where did this guy come up with that b.s.. if you can't ride without a parts truck following you its time to buy a real bike. harley is building a lot of bikes that are solid, and reliable, heck of a good deal compared to these trash cans on wheels.
and I bet your ride is a lame one...you have no involvment in your bike other than filling it up with gas and taking it in for service every time someone tells you its due......its a thing about ownership...once you create something it becomes a part of you...so untill you are capable of producing a bike half as good as one of these you should just not say anything......
bootsky1- building something that leaves me on the side of the road like this, does not appeal to me. remember that didn't build the motor or wheels, or the bearings. i can. bending metal might be an art, but all the parts they buy out of a box they still can't get it right. the only builder i ever seen that can build a real bike is from exile choppers. west coast, occ, lane are all art dealers, a bike can't be ridden is called art. "live to ride" not live to wrench. p.s. i like lame!!!
Onemark- Zoltan has a good point. And so what you can build wheels and bearings, not a bike. Jesse im sure could build just about anything, including a damn good engine. He builds these because he loves too and loves the experience of riding a bike like this. not a triumph. As far as Lane goes your kidding yourself, the guy has a bach in Mechanical Engineering and has 7 pattents on specialized parts. on top of that the guy can design and build his own custom bike.
bootsky1- lane is a screw up form the word go, i had no interest of him until i saw him in the biker build offs, thats why i wouldn't walk across the street to spit on his bikes. and james goes he's alot better than lane, but he still can't build a bike that will go across a state line without breaking down. if junk is your idea of a bike more power to you
i may not like james bikes, but like him as a person. hes a nice guy and no has said any different. i like exile bikes but russel uses to many four letter words for me to be his fan. and what can you say about occ, its all fake, turned into a soap.
Im not totally familiar with exile but from what I know exiles bikes are decent. I agree that occ's show is a joke. but other than their show being shitty I think that they have a decent product. I still dont particularly care for them as much as I do James but i can appreciate what they do.
For all the people who are saying that these bikes are unreliable because they broke down in the film thats not true. The fact is that two of the bikes were very old Harleys and were rode very hard (what can u expect) and Jesses bike broke down because the engine was not broken in and he was riding it pretty hard.
Any bike can break down even a new bike. A lot of choppers now use non-Harley engines like Utlima or S&S. My friends with Honda bikes have had trouble. Nothing is perfect.
whats with the name calling you cock sucking bastard . i cant speak my opinion dumb ass. i just think harleys arent worth the money especialy when you have to put a litter box under them to catch all the oil it leaks and all the repair fees. hondas are built to last just regular maintence
Harley's are the most RIDDEN bikes out there.Alot of bikers that's all they have.Have to have alot of love, understanding of the machine.I have heard more than one actor/poser turd say that H-D's are a piece of shit. They should'nt talk about what they don't understand.
@yippee42 They've improved their quality quite a lot over the past 20 yrs from what I've heard. Talked to a Harley Biker one time who said he LOVED his HD BUT really hated how it broke down all the time. Eh, he liked working on it too...
@yippee42 harleys are the most ridden bikes because they are the most popular bikes. So everyone growing up that dreams about owning a bike has always heard of a harley davidson. What you pay for is the name. The only good harley ever made was the V-rod and thats because german porche engineer's designed the bike. Your better off with a Honda. I've worked on harleys and seen how certified harley davidson tech's are trained. Compared to a Honda tech. There is no question. Invest in a Honda
jesse is the fuckin man!!!! a true genius......and a psycho...that suicide shifter is nice......u dont see them everyday thats for sure..this was a great special on tv....thanks for the post...
That's a jockey shift... suicide shifters are placed behind the rider's knee, and sometimes behind the rider's ass. Other than that, 100% agreed. Jesse James lives a life many only dream about.
no such thing as a suicide shifter, your confusing it with a suicide clutch, its a foot actuated clutch and if your foot slips off while your stopped or you loose balance the bike is gonna shoot forward if your in gear. Jockey shifters are called so because when you shift it looks like a jockey whipping his race horse, but sometimes what jesse has is also called a jockey shifter
They do exist, and are pretty popular on fifties and sixties era Indians. Like I said, suicide shifters are mounted generally behind and under the seat, with a very short throw. In fact, a bike with a suicide shifter was recently featured in the movie Hell Ride.
@ChaosDave2 No, sorry, but you got it wrong. Tank shift is in front (like here), jockey shift is behind (like a jockey whipping his horse). There is no such thing as "suicide shift." There is, however, a "suicide clutch," which is what most hand shifted bikes have, wherein the clutch is actuated by a foot pedal.
@BlackEaglePhotos thank god someone in this day and age knows this i get so sick of hearing about a "suicide shifter" there is no such thing people.
you have a side shift or jockey shift
a foot clutch (what H-D used stock the cluch rocks back and forth and stays where you put it) or a Suicide clutch which acts exactly like a clutch in a car.
called a suicide cuz if your waiting at a light and take foot off clutch you are running out into traffic.
@ChaosDave2 Hhmmm, I thought "suicide shift" was when you still had a left bar hand clutch but had to reach across the tank to shift with your right hand off the throttle, so both hands momentairily are on the same side of the tank = sucide?! My shifter is below my left ass cheek and I call it a derby or jockey shift? Just a question to the floor I do not need to catch attitude folks! LOL
