Senator: NASA budget ignores presidential commission on manned space flight

I am not a big fan NASA. They always say they need more money and always have delays going back to the moon. this is why I am not a believer that we went to the moon because of the delays and 'costs' of getting there.

Let's put this in proper perspective. One year ago, Obama signed the $787 billion stimulus package. But now we can't afford an extra $3 billion per year to maintain Constellation? Stimulus money could provide that $3 billion per year for 262 years.

I thought that LEO would be given over to commercial companies and deep space exploration would be handled by the government? I didn't think that Obama would try to abandon the government funded program COMPLETELY! This is unprecedented. Even the 70s had the STS! And what's with these innovative new technologies that are being talked about? Yeah, we had NERVA before, but they pulled the plug? What use is a hyperdrive if no one is willing to build the starship Enterprise?

and Beyond LEO should be done by NASA

I agree.  We need all of our senators to think like this. Everyone needs to contact their representatives and urge them to save the constellation program.

Thank God for a Senator that understands Human Space Flight. Rushing to retire the shuttle is a massive mistake.
