I honestly don't think that Brazilians in the industry take her seriously as a Bossa Nova artist. She was however marketable in Japan because of being a real Brazilian of Japanese origin.
Brazilians out there, please help! Does anyone know what 'no peo' means when Lisa and Paolo sing : Por ali no peo Donga fez о samba. I couldn't find that word or any similar one in any dictionary. Perhaps it's the name of a place?
@RomeuAlmeida Thanks. I know about Donga, Romeu, but don't know what 'no peo' means, and neither does my friend from Portugal (she thinks it must be something Brazilian but, again, I can't find it in any dictionary).
@unikatnoime As I'm not sure, but I think ’peo(peu)’ means Senador Pompeu. You can search with the keywords 'Donga'+'samba' +'Senador Pompeu' and can find some archives.
@calor2002 Finally, finally, something that sounds and looks very plausible, if that's the way people shorten the name of this street (situated in Rio, I assume). Indeed, I found both occurring in the same article. Thank you. Do you know why the English version mentions Gamboa? Also, it says "walking by the docks where Donga made the samba" etc., but in this article it says that Rua Senador Pompeu is in the centre of Rio... which would not be "by the docks". Or would it? Best...
@unikatnoime Maybe it's spelled peu. In Brazilian Portugues "no" is a contraction (the combining of 2 words).
I think, I THINK "no" is a combination of "en" (which means "in") & "O" (which is the masculine version of "the"). So, "in the" / "en o" gets contracted, (or abbreviated to) "no".
"No peu" would translate to "in the__(something-or-other)"- what ever "peu" means. In the peu
I maybe a little wrong 'cos I know that "em" is the word for "in", but I'm pretty sure that "no" means "in the"
This is a bliss. Never heard of this woman before, but I'll be looking for more of her videos from now on. The musicians are fine as well. Nobody jumped into a crazy jazz solo, which is great. Don't you just hate it when many otherwise good instrumentalists ruin a wonderful song by overdoing it? You don't have to jazz up the bossa even further. It's jazzy enough. Keep it simple, bitches!

再婚しちゃったからどうしようもないけど、結婚したかったなー(無理無理!)ちょうど10歳私が若いんですけど女性ボサノヴァだったら小野リサ以外必要ないですね。ジョイスもアストラッドも。
