I think that this law, and any law that seeks to 'crack down' on illegal immigration, is such a blow because the people that are immigrating illegally are FLEEING their own countries because of the awful awful awful conditions there. They simply do not have money or time to do things lawfully. The bit on immigrants taking our jobs is BS, but what we need is an easier, less costly way for desperate people to become legal citizens.
to my understanding, the law is that police can ask people they arrest in commission of a crime for ID which I don't find unreasonable but I haven't made a really deep study into this. I don't have a strong opinion on immigration laws themselves but I really don't think that people who come to this country illegally should have an easier and faster naturalization process than people who are trying to become citizens legitimately...that being said, awesome video

The problem is that it relies on reasonable suspicion that a person is an illegal immigrant, to ask for their papers - and that can be a very open-ended standard ("reasonable suspicion" could be "he had dark skin and an accent," for instance). I could see how it could be a HUGE hassle, putting it lightly, for lawful immigrants and people just visiting the country (many of whom don't need the papers).
