  • 0:50 "Fatigue free, Enjoyable driving"

Try getting that in a late 90s Minivan, Any time I drive a 97 Plymouth Voyager for a few hours I feel exhausted; The seats were not designed with good posture in mind and if I try to sit in them with good posture my head nearly touches the roof and I compromise my vision out the windshield just slightly.

  • Lol, I like how they describe the colour; despite the fact that the film's in black and white....XD

  • LOL 18 different models?

  • More like Ford Failure

  • I am not even a big fan of american cars but I love the Edsel. It looks like no other car and was not bad at all. Some people thought so and then all the rest agreed. Tragic... The Edsel is one of my dreamcars but it must be the 1958 model :)

  • I own one , the 58 Bermuda and I love it , I would not change a thing

  • That car looks like a vagina.

  • the ranger and pacer look the same to me excluding the convertible.

  • The only thing wrong with the Edsel was the push button transmission. Forgetting that, it was an awesome car.

  • Wow - everyone has a strong oppinion on the Edsel. In brief, is was just another regular Big American Car, but the public was promised that it would be more than that. It was launched during a recession, when ALL medium-priced makes sold poorly. Also, comparing it to Plymouth & Mercury's first-year sales, Edsel actually did quite well respectively! Also, several year later, the central vertical-grill theme popped up on - PONTIAC - and sold well! I will forever love Ford's "unwanted Child"...!

  • @tigertail68 I will have to agree on that, I love Bermuda push button and all !

  • would love to see thse cars in color!!

  • I saw one like that in Havana year ago.. It was full with people, no way they could take one more passenger .. ((

  • I'd love to have one of these. They always were good cars - just poor timing, and poor marketing.

  • The Edsel was almost the last straw in the Ford coffin.. They were in deep trouble. This car was a disaster for them. They were in deep doo doo until 1964 when they built the first Mustangs.

  • the Edsel wasn't the last straw at Ford. While it wasn't a profitable model at that time Ford was hardly on the ropes. They had just come off of the big sales year of 1957 where they sold 1 million more cars than rival Shivelee did and outsold them again in 59. The worst time as far as them folding was right when the 49 ford came out. If it wouldn't have sold Ford would have folded.

  • @lilprincessred I mean't to say they outsold chevy by 100.000 units, not a million.

  • @lilprincessred That's more like it. Ford sold more cars in 1957, but by a small margin (less than 10%). In 1959, it was even closer, with Ford coming in #1 in model year sales, but Chevy #1 in calendar year sales (or was it vice versa?), so basically a tie. Also, those were the only two years between 1935 and some time well into the 1970s that Ford outsold Chevrolet at all.

  • @lilprincessred Well, you're right, and you're wrong. Edsel was not almost the last straw for Ford. Ford was a healthy company during the Edsel years. It was in the 1940s that Ford nearly went bankrupt. If the 1949 models had not been a hit, Ford probably would have gone under. How they ever managed to lose money during World War II on government cost-plus contracts is a mystery, but they managed. No other company was so badly managed as that.

  • I love how this advert is in black and white and they have to tell you what colors the cars are.

  • I personally think the 59's are 100 times nicer looking, these are beautiful to though.

  • The 1958 Edsel is my dream car, i am only 19 and I would not change any thing on it not even the grille.

  • @Jonathonantram ur lying, like a joke, wright, haha, ha

  • I Love Edsels! Unfortunately they were the worlds biggest marketing Flop

  • The Edsel was a quality problem. It never had a dedicated line. It was built on a Fairlaine line. Every 33 car was an Edsel, workers had to juggled tools and parts. They had test markets, everyone approved of the design. The first model had a push button transmission in the center of the steering column. They could never get the linkage right. People saw them sitting along side the road. Then they said the grill work looked like a horse collar, others said it looked like toilet seat.

  • @IFlick

you could end up driving backwords for only trying to honk :)))

  • that car is hideous!..i think the ford ceo at the time didnt like edsel cuz everybody knew the car looked odd......... ... cars back then were a joke to security .. 3 passenger front seat....lol...no seat belts...

  • @DRZREALEST

well you can have 3 passengers in front in mecrury sable for 1995 , for an example

  • @moscowandy.... and people still wonder why japan brands rule the mid/small size sedan category, it was just recently when the big 3 realized they were supposed to make real cars. like the cobalt or the fusion..

  • The Edsel was not a bad car. It had more bang for the buck than the '58 Ford Fairlaine... Nicer interior, and more "gadgetry". Most of the 1958 model cars had styling cues from the love-it-or-hate-it school of design.. The 1958 Oldsmobile... Awful! Edsel was better than that-

  • my dad owns one lol

  • That front grille!!! :D It looks like a woman's front bits

  • I'd love to own a car like that!

  • Buy an Edsel then. They can easily be found in the midwestern US states. Look at Craigslist for one or something similar.

  • Wow I found one for under a thousand Dollars! Which means some one replaced the piston gaskets with beer cans! Now all I need is a job so I can have more money than my parents give me!

  • $1000 US is decent, and would make a good project car. If it is a '60 model year or a '58 Edsel Citation, ask your parents to loan you money for it, and agree to pay them back, as those are the rare and valuable Edsels. If it is a '58 or '59 Edsel Ranger, then it isn't rare.

  • I live in Iowa, and have never seen one

  • I've searched the whole US for Edsels for sale, and I have found the most results for decent and cheap Edsels in the Midwestern States, Texas, and Pennsylvania. Granted, they are still rare cars, so you probably won't see one on the street, but if you want one, you should search, because you will find one.
