how old do you have to be to do cadet program?

this may seem dumb but i'm from the UK and we dont have this kind of thing over here. are the Cadets armed like the regular police officers?

@pyro999maniac No, they aren't, because they aren't 21 years old (the federal age requirement for carrying a handgun). That's why they remain cadets until the age of 21.
